  • In this video Ajay tells us his life story started as a refugee from Uganda arriving in London at the beginning of the 70s. A beautiful story of a family that started from nothing and became one of the biggest name in the cigar industry. Ajay is known for his knowledge of cigars and particularly for his collection of Vintage cigars. Ajays' vintage cigars taste different. Why? It cannot be explained scientifically but his cigars age wonderfully. It is called dedication and passion. Enjoy! Ajay and his family own and run La Casa del Habano Teddington in the South of London and No.6 Cavendish, a wonderful Cigar Lounge in the centre of London.

We all at AMICIgar have to say thank you to Ajay n Bhavna for bringing us all together, as they donated a Trinidad 40 Ann. Humidor ( Immagine the value today if they kept it) and asked us to organise in Maiori ( Amalfitan Coast ) again after our decision to stop the annual meetings we had.

What an enjoyable interview. Made me appreciate the hard work put in by Ajay and his wife as well as the risks they took on their journey to build their business. I also really liked the respectful way you conducted the interview giving Ajay the space to tell his story and only stepping in intermittently to engage with him. You are a true gentleman and I’d love to hear about your own journey with cigars one day. Greetings from London.

Thank you very much. I started to write a book in 2020 about my journey and to tell people to buy and stock cigars. Then Covid came amand the price rise. I hope to finish it soon.

A fascinating and inspiring story Laurent, well worth the time spent watching it, many thanks. It sounds like you, Ajay and the Sahakians all come from refugee families (have you released a video on your history?). I am old enough to remember Idi Amin throwing all the Asians out of Uganda. All I can say is Uganda's loss is England's gain. Best wishes. K

It’s really refreshing to hear the stories behind these pioneers of the cigar industry in depth. This shines a fantastic light on AJ and was an enchanting story from humble beginnings to where he is today. I hope to travel to London and visit no.6 one day, I love his videos that he does with his daughter and their tasting evenings. What a fantastic guy. Great video 👏👏

Many thanks for sharing this interesting story of your life and experience with cigars. I was a big fan of habano news but with this I am converted! Just one note when you said 40 degrees Celsius and the temperature control which was a game changer for me living between Dubai and Portugal and got the quality of my cigars to another level when I invested on a large raching humidor to age mine where I keep them at 20 degrees and 66%.my other cabinet that is not temperature control cannot provide the same quality. I wish I would have met you both in the event with Jassem at the Zabeel hotel; maybe next time. My tribute to both of you
