Emm... Kristína from Slovakia was on that contest as well and she had a song about her own country region. So she's also a real representive of her own country. And she was number 4 in 1st semifinal, Kuunkuiskaajat were number 5 in same semifinal.
They both were exceptions :) And don't forget about Marcin Mrozinski I only named Kuunkuiskaajat, because they have the most folk-orientated song in my opinion

11 years later and I still find this song so enjoyable and fun and authentic, just what Eurovision is about. Such a shame it didn't qualify. I'd love to see more entries like this, traditional and fun, I've really missed them all these past years. Love from Greece!

Its quite sad; this came 6th in televiting but was 15th out of 17th for juries. They would have qualified under our current system. Im so glad we have the new system now, so many cultural songs are finally being saved by the televoting

Sweden (in control of ESC) isn't exactly a fan of Finnish language. If you don't know what i'm talking about, ask a Finnish person. I m not surprised at all that a song in Finnish will never win a Swedish competition and Finnish songs have always been looked down by the jury to the point that it's ridiculous. Käärijä didn't win because of this.

One of my all time favourites eurovision songs. I think every country should send songs in local style and local language instead of an standard english pop song.
