Wow. Everyone is cringing down here about the turtle intro, but I personally think it's powerful. It really gives you an idea about how straws can affect ocean life. The way the little guy reacted to the straw-removal broke my heart. From now on, I shall try my best to re-use straws and use glass ones.

Yeah, it's a great way to show how harsh their conditions are but I really wish they had a warning of some sort because I did not enjoy having to throw up because it triggered a reaction with me

Sorry that I am also late but yes plastic cups are bad for the ocean but they could be recycled unlike plastic straws
I mean as long as they don’t get end up in the trash you could still use plastic and just reuse it or you could go on the easier route and get a reusable cup.Also we shouldn’t shame people for using plastic because scientifically if you are trying to raise awareness in a negative way, people are more likely to not want to contribute to the thing your trying to bring awareness to (which is the planet)

3:50 I feel like they should have made this statement clearer. Plastic does NOT break down. It may not be visible to the human eye, but it breaks down to what it called micro plastics, some of which you can see. Micro plastics are still harmful to animals, and even effect us. How? You may ask. Well if small fish consumes plastic, then a bigger fish eats it, that bigger fish would also be consuming plastic by eating those smaller fish, because if that's what its diet consists of, then its constantly consuming plastic. Then we would consume that fish, transferring microplastics to us. Thank you for reading my TED Talk

We have reusable straws here, we clean them with a brush they came with. Lots of options on amazon
Is the brush effective? The only reason I avoid reusable straws is because I get grossed out by them.
Shannanigans I think they are although the bristles are really soft so I wouldn’t drink milk through them. Disinfecting them every now and then with a bit of bleach might be a good idea. :)

I wasn't a regular straw user until 2 years ago when I was sick and having trouble drinking beverages and the only way I could was with a straw. Weird I know... And so I kept using them. Now I want a glass one. I'll stop using plastic ones.

I use stainless steel straws. They work amazing. Keep cold drinks even colder. Hot drinks even warmer
I use a straw like 1 - 3 times per 6 months
I used to use straws only when I'm feeling unwell, laying down (ordered a silicone straw now to try and use for that tho, hoping I'll be able to bend it so I don't have to get up when it's difficult ✨) and a reusable metal one for when I'm drinking out of cans or for an occasional ice coffee 🐢
Make edible straws similar to the twizzler but different taste...or make biodegradable straws.
they've actually made biodegradable and edible disposable cutlery, I hope they do something similar with straws

MzQueen G you can buy paper ones but they are pretty expensive and so if the price doesn’t go down not many restaurants will use them.

I have a bunch of straws that have been sitting in my cupboard for months. I use a straw and then add it to my bundle of straws that stay in my cupboard.
If you really can't help using a straw please keep them in a bundle and tie them with a ribbon or straw. Don't throw them away ^ ^
