- The day before the baby was born, we took Maddie and Lucca to Juju's house because we felt that the baby would come the next day, and sure enough, that's what happened. We were only allowed to have a doula, myself, and one other person in the room for the delivery and Charlotte's mom, Juju, was the other person we chose to be in the room.
The first time the girls saw their new sister was on Facetime a few minutes after she was born, and I could tell they were so excited to meet her after all the anticipation from the last nine months of them having a new sister.
We knew they wouldn't meet in person for a day at most, but we had no idea that it would be four days before they met, and that was another reason why being kept in the hospital for her bilirubin levels was so difficult. We wanted to be united as a family of 5 for the first time.
Before the baby came, Charlotte had Maddie and Lucca pick out gifts to introduce their new baby sister to our family and also got a gift from the baby to gift the girls. Charlotte did this for Maddie and Lucca after Lucca was born, and I think this helped Maddie with this transition of not being the only baby in the family.
You never know how this significant change will affect kids, even when you do all you can tell them there will be change and that it's an exciting change. So we have to sit and wait and see how it will all play out...

I guessed wrong ! I really thought Charlotte would have named the baby for her beloved grandma who recently passed away. I remember her saying how much her grandma meant to her. Quincy is cute though. Reminds me of the great Quincy Jones! 🎵

That’s really nice the hospital let you have so many people in the delivery. Our hospital only allows one person in the delivery with the mom. Sounds like Charlotte expects more help from you Ced. She seemed kinda annoyed that you would take any time for yourself early in the morning. I feel like she should be grateful she has a stay at home husband to help with her with the kids all day. Most mom have to do it all day alone while their husbands go to a job. I think it’s more than reasonable for you to be “allowed” some me time in the morning to do some of your own stuff. Congrats on the new arrival! 🎉
Same with my local hospital. During the peak of the pandemic, when I had my baby, they wouldn’t even allow my husband in the hospital, so I had to deliver without a support person 😢. I think now they allow only one person in the delivery room. That’s so awesome that Charlotte got to have Ced, her mom, and a doula!! Also, I noticed in the vlog she also got to have the phototherapy done in her room so the baby got to stay with her! How incredibly awesome!! Our baby needed to be taken to the NICU for phototherapy and an IV so it was really hard being separated for a few days and also not being allowed to have my husband there with me. But I feel so blessed to have had a healthy baby. That’s all that matters. ❤
