@@salvadorosorio4975 I've heard of shops selling lower, but none in my area do, because they have high turn over. The issue with shops is that they can end up with cards for weeks/months, and in that time things change, especially when a new set releases and the meta changes. It's not uncommon for a lot of cards to tank in price when they become unplayable in competitive play and/or the demand for them drops. In a lot of cases, the valuable new cards are falsely inflated due to competitive play, which crashes once the meta changes. But yea, don't ever sell cards to shops. It's like taking a new car to the scrap yard to sell as scrap metal. You're much better off paying 10-12% in fees selling them on TCGplayer + the cost of a stamp.
Okay true there is always that one guy but I’ve had experiences with game stores offering 40 dollars for my entire binder, when I had 4 copies of an 80 dollar card in the first slot (9 slots per page, about 30 pages full of cards, minimum card price on TCGplayer 10$ ). I play mtg so I’m not sure how it lines up in the pokemon world but some stores will definitely try to take advantage of you, choosing greed over a reasonable price.
You mean you’re 0% sure they’re fair and they sure do give the customer the GameStop treatment 100%. I’ve been to several shops in my life and I can safely say 1 was fair on trade in (60% of market value) and sold based on market price
As an assistant manager at an LGS… this hits my core, and sometimes it’s kids who don’t know better and we help show them TCGPlayer n stuff, but when it’s adults I wanna just tell them to leave. Stop waisting my time.
To be completely transparent. Even the best of the best card shops are thieves. Even if actual value is in the binder, let's say a $60 card, the most they'd do is 50%-60%, or in this case, trade towards a card you want, they'll do a "special" of 70% of your trade value towards the card.
Thieves? Card shops have bills to pay and owners have to sacrifice their entire career to keep that shop open. Do you know how business and profits work?
What really pisses me off is when you go to sell your cards at an LGS and they offer you like 30% of the cards value and that seems to be the norm in Colorado cause I’ve been to a ton of shops here in my state and they all operate the same. And then they make you feel like a piece of shit when you want 80% of the cards value. I recently tried selling my mint rainbow rare pikachu from vivid voltage and the card shop only offer me $30 🙄

Some of the videos be cringy but this one got me lmao I just started collecting I feel like this one about me I got half of those vCards in my binder as we speak😂😂😂

Would you rather have good cards in your binder... the kind of cards that are hard to find and are expensive... or cards that anyone can just buy for a dollar or less?
For real though lately buying from any of my nearby lgs feels like a waste of money. They upcharge everything when a box is 100 on Amazon or tcgplayer it’s 130 in a store. They also don’t seem to give a damn about they customers. They just want you to buy product and leave.
