Thanks for putting together a video on this, I've been thinking for some time to pick up a holster but wasn't sure about getting the size right. This helps!!! I just did a measurement on where I expect to wear it and came up with 44" which puts it just a little low on my hip. Now to find a nice holster....that doesn't break my budget! Thanks again!

Thank you for the information. I'm putting my first CFDA rig together. I have a Colt SAA with a 5-1/2 barrel. I also bought the holster but I need the gun belt. I was thinking of getting an oversize belt with holes on the entire length to adjust for fast draw gun/holster height. Once I figure out my shooting style and draw action with the temporary rig, I'll get a real fast draw rig.

Most modern pants are vanity sized, so the size on the tag is generally 2 sizes smaller than the actual measurement. If those Dockers are size 40 on the tag, then they're actually 42. Good rule of thumb for gun belts are to size up 2 1/2 sizes up from your actual waist, or 4 1/2 sizes up from your jean waist size. So if you wear a size 40 pant waist, 45 sounds about right. I wear a 36" waist in jeans, and 41" gun belts are kinda tight on me until they break in. I could probably go to 42", but there's just too much flop. (I work in the clothing industry, so I'm constantly explaining to women why their waist isn't actually an 8, it's a 10. Not a conversation I like to have.)

This is great. I like how you use the paper and a ruler to do the hip measurement. I’ve been scrubbing our garage for an old sewing tape and resigned to asking my mother in law to bring one over. Should have just used paper and a tape measure! Sounds like taking the pants measurement and adding 4-5 inches might be an ok rule of thumb?

My first was another black one for .22 caliber and is a fast draw. @1fleake  Před rokem +1

      Hello
That's a personal preference type question.
It depends on what your looking for in a gunbelt. The material, the gunbelt is from. The style of gunbelt.
Gunbelt makers have strong and weak points, we all have strong and weak points.
You may like the quality of workmanship but, don't like the style or look of the gunbelt.....for example
      So.
When you find just that perfect combination.......you'll know
I know this is a vague answer. But, I think it's the best answer for searching for that perfect gunbelt.

@@1fleake I saw it in a dream I had yesterday. I have only seen the cell phone holster which attaches to the belt, but it has 2 flaws. One, the holster is too high to grab. Second, it doesn't take much to accidently detach the holster from the regular belt and fall on the ground. I'm always forgetting where I leave my phone, so if I had the western style double gun belt with 2 holster (1 hip side for the phone & the other side to carry the recharger & earphones) I would have a less of a chance of loosing my phone.

    • @1fleake
      @1fleake  Před 3 lety +1

      Hello
A size 38 belt should work fine.
      An idea.
Get one of those measuring tapes used for sewing.
      Have your blue jeans on.
      Then, loosely.....not to loose
      Measure your hip size.
That way you'll have a good idea the size gunbelt you wear.
Remember........the size of the belt is to the center hole.
So you will have 2 or 3 holes for adjustments........bigger or smaller
      Hope that helps.
