Sam made my Para concealed holster, he is by far the best in the biz 💪🏽
Excellent video. Super interesting!
I usually hate remakes but this movie was great!
Yes it was!
Back in the mid-late 80's I made all my own holsters. I had a brochure from a guy called himself Wild Bill's Holsters. He made period correct western rigs and aged them to look old but were brand new. I copied one and the belt also. The belt he slit and wove the loops thru in one piece and riveted the ends so when the loops stretched out you could correct it.
I have three Andrew’s holsters extremely happy with them for EDC
if you sweep yourself in a twist draw you did it wrong. it was also the standard cavalry draw at the time too. other than i certainly hope you get an Oscar for your work.
Awesome craftsmanship. Awesome.
Sam has the coolest voice in the world, right after Morgan Freeman.
wonderful work
Great work Andrew on the holsters and looking forward to calling u up for a holster in the future u do amazing work I see and hear
the reverse draw was standard in the cavalry at the time because it was easier to draw from horseback and they would have their saber on the left hip so they couldn’t do a typical cross draw from the opposite hip
I had to read that twice, but yes you are correct.
Wrong, I’m not saying it never happened, but doctrine was that both the saber and pistol were taken in cross draw, the pistol to the left hand from the right hip, the saber to the right hand from the left hip. The saber was considered the more important weapon so it got the strong (right) hand, the pistol was relegated to the weak hand because at most it had six rounds until there was a lull in the battle and reloading could happen; whereas the saber never “ran out.” Cavalry charges are the saber version of an infantry bayonet charge, whereas firing the pistol/(rifle for bayonet charging infantry) is something that can be done when the possibility is available, but the intention of the cavalry charge is men on horses bearing down on the enemy swinging long blades; still more accurate in the late 1800s than skirmishers (militia, regular, or Indian) with muzzle loaders, revolvers, repeating rifles, or bow and arrow…. Also, with the horse doing the heavy work a cavalry unit could charge several times in a matter of minutes, with the troopers each attacking/striking several enemy with each charge. The reason the cavalry was generally so successful against dismounted troops.
In my 31 years in the military over a decade was spent with the cavalry, my M256 smoothbore cannon could reach out and touch quite a bit farther and much more accurately than a saber, so we don’t do those saber charges anymore…
Great holsters
Cool stuff. Enjoyed it
best holsters around
Back again. Still liking your videos hank ,& the leather work is cool. Hand saddle stitching some that are similar. Plain,no tooling or conches yet. Using a Vietnam era US army belt rather than leather…for now anyhow. & the guns, not real cowboy stuff either. Have some shooter grade S&W’s. Experimenting and having fun with it. Going pretty good so far. Nothing like andrews stuff but you got to start somewhere. Take care
Very cool.
I thought the double belt with bullet loops and the cross-draw pistol for Goodnight Robisau was terrific. I'd love one in .357 magnum for my Winchester 1873. (The 45-70 was just a monster cartridge)
Twist draw is safe if ya pay attention and don't sweep your body
I heard there was 13 movies that he is done not to mention Yellowstone but there is a specific offshoot
Watch, 2 Chainz is gonna order a Vasquez rig with all 24k solid gold metalwork.
watching tht now!!! DW rig like the Calvary set up? w/o flap
Denzel's rig is called a calvary draw.
that would be cavalry!!!
Calvary, a place of Christian significance.
Cavalry, a military formation of mounted soldiers.
Trust me, I was a cavalry soldier with the eleventh armored cavalry regiment for over a decade….
And the reverse cross draw are because the primary hand was supposed to be using a cavalry saber and the off hand would reach over for the pistol, both hands doing a cross draw for their weapon held on the other side of the body….
How much does a Vasquez rig run and what is current wait time?
Look up letty behind the scenes of fast and furious 8 shes wearing the holster while interviewing
If you reverse draw correctly it won't sweep across your body, but if you need to reverse quick draw it will. For some reason this was popular with gunslingers in the wild west, with the likes of bass Reeves and Wild Bill both wearing their pistols butt-out. I'm still curious why they found that to be the fastest draw...
It mostly had to do with ease of access when riding a horse. Very difficult to draw from a traditional holster when sitting.
It has to do with the holster and position hitting the riders thighs while mounted on horseback. With the pistol butt forward the barel and holsters rest towards the rear of the hips and miss the riders thighs.
🔥💀🔫💀🔥
over 2 years ago I ordered a belt and the denzel and still don't have it ! when called they gave me a different answer! each time just think almost 450.00 dollars and 2.5 years later still no belt or holster!!
Sam, did you do any holsters for any of the Kevin Costner films?
No he has not made any for his films
I wonder how much a left hand only and belt of the Chris Pratt rig would be?
The cost is about $425.00. Current wait time on custom orders is a Minimum of 7 months.
@@andrewsleather1079 Thank-you.
Can’t find a shoulder holster we wore for the Webley. Anyone? I’d love something like that for my thunderer.
If its a 380 Bursa Thunder unfortunately Sam does not have a pattern for this gun.
Can the Denzel rig be used as a left cross draw?
It is called a calvary draw.
Yes
Cross draw that’s what I use in civil war re-enactments and I can agree with the Calvary draw
It would need to be angled differently.
CAVALRY……
Calvary is a place of Christian significance.
Do you have a catalog?
You can see our catalog online at www.andrewsleather.com
Do you do any metal lined work? I’m interested in the Chris Pratt rig but would like it metal lined for a smoother draw. I’m also interested in the shoulder holster.
Thanks
Gonna ruin the finish on your gun. You want it lined and then possibly use a lubricant.
@@CountryDoublePlay no it won’t. The metal “lining” is sandwiched between the two pieces of leather to keep the holster stiff and slightly looser so you can draw quicker.
Is it possible to order the holsters?
Yes. calll 904-679-4997 to place an order.
Talking about sweeping your body with a pistol notice the Mr T wannabe sweeps the camera man with his shoulder holster rig. Which by the way why are you wearing that?
Good challenge. I thought shoulder holsters went out with Starsky and Hutch.
he did NOT make a holster for this prnt.sc/10z4gcv i had to make everything
