- Making an artificially-aged distressed leather cartridge money belt. Showing some of my antiquing techniques. Sorry in advance for the background audio in the first 6 minutes or so. Was streaming a show while watching... was originally planning on doing a soundtrack of some sort, but then decided to just leave it as-is.

I just want to thank you for your videos. I got started in leatherworking solely due to having seen your video on how you follow the pattern for the holster in 3:10 to Yuma. I knew my dad would love having that holster for his favorite gun. It was difficult, but my dad was in love with the end result and I was very proud of myself for finishing it. Since then I've made a handful of other things and am so glad I picked up the hobby. I think a lot of the credit goes to you for having uploaded these videos and showing how fun and rewarding leathercraft can be. Thanks so much for sharing ♡
:) Glad to hear you were inspired to get into the craft!
This looks great, love the technique to age it and will be trying that. You are very good at this. Thank you very much.
Please for the love of god keep posting content bro your stuff is the best on youtube for leather period
AMAZING!!!! WOW!!! That looks great!!!! Nice work. Looks like it was made decades ago. You are very talented. Love all your work.
Thanks for talking us through the project, it really helps us to improve our own techniques, keep 'em coming.
Great video...you are the Jedi master of this aging/weathering process...seems well thought out...thanks
That was simply masterful to watch. Thanks for sharing your technique. Cheers brother.
Thank you for calling it a Cartridge, and not a bullet holder. lol so many people really don't know that the bullet is, it's only one part of the whole cartridge, it's one of those things that makes the hair stand up on the back of your neck when they say stuff like that. also great job, looks awesome, amazing work!!
Fantastic results !! Thank you for sharing all your techniques !
You're welcome!
Holy crap. Found this by accident. You are a true artist, and as a writer myself, I've known many. I am going to order a belt! Knowing that it's one of a kind is even better. Keep up the good work.
Very interesting to watch you use some of the same techniques as weathering scale models. This piece turned out just great it's ready for a movie set.
Tanks for sharing your process!!! It really turned out great!!!
Excellent tutorial. One slight point of disagreement. The edges of actually very worn out old leather become naturally very soft and almost burnished with actual usage even if they weren't originally. So I would suggest actually burnishing them a bit, maybe a classic "glicerine soap and piece of canvas" burnishing instead of using the wooden burnisher - just with no dye (despite the current fad of dying edges in darker tones or even black).
So bomb man. Embrace the chaos. Beautiful.
Amazing work Pard....!! Look like an old gun belt that have been kicking around for 100 years 👍🤣
Excellent ! Beautiful !
Love this, I dig your style!!
@15:26
Extra points if you can also dye the dog shit with your Pollock technique.
That looks amazing!! Best traditional looking belt I've seen. Love that worn look.
You inspire sir!
Just beautiful!🇺🇸
Thank you!
Thank you so much for this
veer ji God bless you for this video you doing for us I love your work thanks veere
And… just like that… it was a hundred years old!
I know a guy that took a new, beautiful cowboy rig and put it in a cement mixer with pea gravel, and let it run.......Looked like he wore it for 15 years as he conquered the West...
Again I really admire your artistry. LOVE the "Antiquing" ... aging / weathering!
How do I get in touch with you to have a "Weathered/Aged/Antiqued" Money Belt
made?
look me up on Etsy
What did you crush up to age the stitching? Great video with lots of helpful techniques! Thank you.
One of my favorite builds I have come across. How wide is the leather cut in the beginning ?
Have you ever thought of making larger patches with a resist that can be peeled off at some point and modifying the dye with a strong dose of red as your final topcoat? The sharp lines could mimic the accident that happened to the belt when it fell into runoff mine contaminated water. Also, have you considered diluting some of the bluing and using spatter details of that?
Love your work I want to learn my self thank yo8 for good works yo8 dine
Glad to help!
GREAT VIDEO! My only problem with this, is that no matter how much I want an aged holster rig (or jacket, or sheath, or axe hanger, or whatever), after putting all those hours into it and making it look awesome, custom, and nearly perfect, I can’t bear to do everything required to properly weather it and make it look fifty years old and well used…. It’s like the Fonz trying to admit he was “wa wa wa….. wa wa wa…. wrrrrRRrrrRRrrr…. wrrrRRrrrRRrr….. wa wa wRRrrrRRrrrrrrr…..” well, you understand….
17:48 That is Master Sergeant Robert “Bob” Ross, United States Air Force, Retired….
You started to sound like Bob Ross when you were doing the splatter. Even started to use one of his phrases: "There are no mistakes, just happy accidents"
Where can I get a cutting mat this big ??
Great video. What was that substance you ground in a mortar to darken the thread?
Artist's chalk.
Dog turd in the yard really ages it well too lmao !! :)
What pattern did you use for this project? Where is it available? OUTSTANDING WORK, GOOD SIR!!!
This belt is something I made up. Will Ghormely used to sell a cartridge belt pattern and the basic structure came from that IIRC.
The weathering techniques developed from my attempts to recreate the work of the late, great Chuck Burrows from Wild Rose Trading Co.
Hello sir, are you contracting any work out right now? I would love a belt like this. I tried looking you up on etsy, couldn't find you. Really love your work!
search "roadagentleather" on Etsy
What machine do you stitch on buddy I’m just part time for fun but would make things easier

Is that real ammo? Does the belt come with ammo?
I've heard that neatsfoot oil dries out leather and degrades stitches. Is that true?
Dries out leather? I'd say the opposite. I haven't experienced either of these effects. Do you mean saddle soap? People frequently repeat that anecdote.
Nobody noticed the dog doo yet? Lmao
Dude!!!! What do you charge???
Do you have a website? -Madd Man
He sells his work on Etsy.
