About Scoot (from Wikipedia):
Scoot Pte Ltd, operating as Scoot, is a Singaporean low-cost airline and a wholly owned subsidiary of Singapore Airlines. It began its operations on 4 June 2012 on medium and long-haul routes from Singapore, predominantly to various airports throughout the Asia-Pacific region. Scoot's airline slogan is Escape the Ordinary. Scoot's fleet initially consisted of six Boeing 777-200ER aircraft previously operated by parent company Singapore Airlines. In 2015, Scoot began to transition its long-haul fleet to the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Scoot also uses the Airbus A320, inherited from Tigerair, another low-cost Singaporean airline which merged with Scoot in July 2015, along with the Airbus A320neo and Airbus A321neo for its short-haul flights.
About 787 (from Wikipedia):
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner is an American wide-body airliner developed and manufactured by Boeing Commercial Airplanes. After dropping its unconventional Sonic Cruiser project, Boeing announced the conventional 7E7 on January 29, 2003, which focused largely on efficiency. The program was launched on April 26, 2004, with an order for 50 aircraft from All Nippon Airways (ANA), targeting a 2008 introduction. On July 8, 2007, a prototype 787 without major operating systems was rolled out; subsequently the aircraft experienced multiple delays, until its maiden flight on December 15, 2009. Type certification was received in August 2011, and the first 787-8 was delivered in September 2011 before entering commercial service on October 26, 2011, with ANA.

As a former cabin crew at scoot, personally from my 2 years experience, 9V-OJA TO 9V-OJE are all pretty much degraded externally and internally, we do raise CDLs on stuff but becuz they squeeze the operations of their planes so close to each other, they rarely get sent for deep cleaning or full proper maintenance. Just speaking on experience as a former cabin crew with them.
Thanks for the info ! Stop flying scoot a while back.
Flew with Scoot to SYD last year in economy and as you alluded to the staff are the saving grace of this airline. Very friendly check in staff told me I was 3kg over in baggage - “We’re not going to charge you sir, just letting you know”
You were so lucky. I was about 3-4 kg over as well on my scoot flight to Seoul and got charged $200+.
The reason why I hate taking scoot is mainly due to cheapo a holes who insist taking their big heavy luggage on board just to save on the check in costs.
Wow, Singapore Airlines management is really trying to make people aware, that they're flying on their low-cost subsidiary 🤣 But seriously that's very bad.
Hahaha could be!
As a janitor/housekeeper for the hotel I work at, this is beyond unacceptable. UGH that is disgusting! 😢
As A Singaporean, it saddens me that Scoot is so bad, why can’t it be great like a low cost version of SQ
Because it's low cost buddy.... Hygiene is a bit expensive to achieve and maintain......
Well, SQ owns them 100% ,(but they are like heaven & hell to me after my worst flight ever with Scoot).
Because if they make scoot bad, people would want to fly SQ which makes more profit for them.
Ikr
To be honest, SQ isn’t all that great anymore…..
I’m sure the company that leased the plane to scoot won’t be happy to see it returned in such a bad condition, or even worse. Basic cleaning is preventative maintenance for other problems like bug infestations, equipment failure etc
the leasing company dont own the seats
@@odzergaming As Dan said in the beginning the outside says alot about the outside. Even the buttons where worn down and dirty.
@@emiliaholmberg3320 787s have a paint shedding problem
Oskar's reaction to the filth was priceless 😅
I booked my flight with Scoot yesterday and in 1 hour I realised that I booked the wrong flight. I gave them a call and they changed my flight for free. This is a wonderful service.
Holy crap, I haven’t seen aircraft as bad as this one
They just outsourced cleaning . . . to the customers. It's when they outsource the maintenance that you need to worry.
I've flown Air India business class (pre-pandemic) and it was easily worse than this
@@johnfbm LOL
Thanks for highlighting this issue. I've been on Scoot a few times and I find their cabins dirty and poorly maintained. Yes it's the budget arm of SIA but it's not exactly cheap!
Am I the only one who noticed that the nose of the plane has big Yella Fella written on it💀
Scoot names its aircraft. I was just in Singapore, and noticed “Scooterlicious” & “Captain Yellow” on their birds. Scooterliciois is a 787, and the paint is in about the same state as Big Yellow Fellow. I’m going to see how long till this topic comes up on the podcast with Alex.
Oh a scruffy Dan during Points Master promo. Like it 👍😂❤🌈
As a very nervous flyer, I was ON EDGE the whole time on Scoot purely because of how run down their planes looked. The whole cabin rattled the whole flight. It felt like a plane from the 90s. I just kept telling myself it was cosmetic and it didn’t matter but don’t think I’ll fly them again 😅
As a Singaporean, I can vouch that most of their airplanes are clean. Flying to Jeju on their A321 (TR812/TGW812) and the staff were friendly and the airplane was maintained. Overall, I think that these are just the older fleet of aircraft and are not really well maintained.
“Big Yella Fella!” The name of the plane is hilarious.
I like this channel because its like watching more dan flight reviews between dan flight review videos
I just flew Singapore airlines business from Tokyo to Adelaide Australia and holy moly that’s the best travel experience I’ve ever had! But I did prefer the business seat/cubicle on the 777-300ER vs the 787-10 to Australia, found it way bigger?
Most flights out of Perth from Scoot to Singapore have been good and they are ridiculously cheap.
Iam british and I big fan of your videos wanna bee a traveler just like you your my inspiration
Great Video Dan👍 So tomorrow another review is coming out on Nonstopdan?
Now scheduled for Sunday 🙏
Thanks Dan, I also wanted to say that I enjoyed Master Points a lot. I am flying SQ from LHR to SYD in Summer in Business Class and only costing me 125k Aeroplane points
I was going to say "don't be so fussy". BUT, that plane: It needs to be decommissioned and it's SOOOO disgusting!! Thanks for the heads-up!!!!
Hi Dan, OMG, when you look at this plane outside, its kind of like the plane did a drift when landing, scared the living daylights out of the passengers, it's probably something different though, anyway besides cleanliness which yeah this plane needed a lot of, probably also a nice fresh coat of paint in the cabin can go a long way to refresh the cabin also, my sister was thinking about flying Scoot in the future as part of the way to get here, I need to bring when she's going to do it, to bring some clean wipes.
So glad you made this video. You mentioned flights to Australia and that is what I did in Scoot Plus. Why oh why are their planes so dirty?? Is it even worse in economy? I do not understand why Singapore Airlines isn’t paying to have their flights cleaned properly. Especially if originating from Singapore. Really makes me think do I want to fly their dirty plane again? Your flight wasn’t a one off, mine was dirty and I’ve seen another review to Australia mention the same.
Flown exactly the same aircraft back from KIX to SIN last Sunday and it was out last Scoot flight on the 787s - seat back broken, fixed with tape that was again broken, toilet cover (the entire panel) had to be pushed back (right back restroom) so the flush mechanism would connect to flash - window shade button on our row (14) looked like yours, food looked like it had already been consumed… aso - economy seat was always weird but it used to be clean - now it gives any Aeroflot old Tupolev a run for its money…
I also flew "Big Yella Fella" SYD-SIN in 2022, first and possibly last time on Scoot (at least for now, unless there's no other choice when it comes to short haul flights from SG), same observation with the window controls and overall not comfortable, not an experience I would say "wow" to. The saving grace was that at least I got to experience a 787 flight for the very first time though.
When airlines call their staff by pet names like Scootees, you know there is a problem.
LOL...sounds like a mite colony
I’m flying scoot for the first time this Monday, and I’m weirdly excited? But this video has me regretting my decision 😅😅
It depends on what aircraft you get. I was on a new A321Neo recently and it was spotless!
It looks like an aircraft pulled straight from a war. And nice title 😊
My wife was until recently ‘in the airline business’. She always maintained that “a clean airplane is a safe airplane”. What she meant was an airplane that was clean was probably well maintained overall. Based on what you showed, I would not set foot on that airline.
I just flew Scoot from SIN-KUL last month on their 787-9 too and it was really a disappointing experience… For starters, my flight was delayed by almost 5 hours and I was only notified 2 hours before. They did provide meal vouchers (and a snack pack at the gate) though so that was ok. However, there was an absolute lack of order at the gate, people were rushing to board the plane even though they weren’t in the boarding zone which were called and it was a massive havoc…everyone was pushing left and right and the ground staff weren’t able to handle it hence making us an extra 30-50 mins late for departure…and as Dan mentioned, the plane is in an absolutely sad state. The interior was so dirty and there were crumbs on my seat, floors. It was just a bad experience mad worse by the unclean plane. Is it really that hard to upkeep a plane?
You should have seen the recent TUI Flight I took.
Food on the floor, filthy armtrays and the air vents were almost black.
Yeah… Scoot would be top notch in LCC standards if they really update the interior of their planes more often and do a great cleaning after each flight.
Flying to Melbourne on Scoot in June. Oh boy...
Scoot away from the plane Oscar and Dan. Scoot away from the plane. lol
It’s so anti-singapore to have such filthy planes because the city is pretty much spotless
just so you know, the city's pretty dirty and polluted, including the river, just that you don't hear about it much
@@goldenfirster just so you know, pretty much everyone that've been to Singapore before could proof you wrong.
spore does make a good first , frontline impression.
@@KeoNz sure the tourist attractions are nice and clean but other than those places it's filthy
@@goldenfirster On the contrary, most places in Singapore are clean(include non tourist attractions) except perhaps some back alleys or wet market areas.
And I will have to say it again that beard growing looks good.
@@iswish_41are you trying to make fun? It didn’t work
I know it's part of the cost cutting measures implemented by Scoot but damn this plane is realllllyyyyyy dirty.
Love Changi Airport - it is nicer than Dubai! Scoot - not so much. Flew them from Melbourne to Bengalaru a few years back.
Dan you should try new air india a350 businesses/first-class.
As a Singaporean, I totally avoid taking Scoot. The price and hardware does not match. So I would rather pay a little more for full service flight.
Thank you for highlighting this poblem. I have been trying to do the same but i guess the company only listen to people with influence like you and not their employees. Our concerns fall on deaf ears.
My flight was canceled yesterday. TR611 on 30/04/24. The airline didn’t even inform us ahead of the cancellation! When we arrived at the airport, that’s when we found out! Horrible!
The condition of the plane from sapporo to singapore is much better. I guess they use older and worn out planes for shorter routes. Nonetheless, that shouldn't be an excuse for them to not maintain a decent level of cleanliness and a new coat of paint for the plane.
For the price of their tickets I guess they only clean their planes once every six months.
Nice SQ 747
scoot was one of the better budget airlines right after the covid. But in 2024, its one of the worst airline. I had to take scoot from vietnam to singapore. The airport immigration was so crowd and had to queue more than 1 hour to clear immigration. Not only did it not assign staffs to help usher passengers to clear immigration fast, they have the time to take my baggage out of the airplane when I arrive 5 minutes before the departure. The situation was similar to what you experienced in KL.
Yeah as if airlines play any part towards immigration and customs authorities in every country. Use your goddamn brain
Took our advice on that title FAST
😂
For real I couldn't even vote
Dan, you think only Low-Cost carriers do not clean? Come and fly Qantas domestic, Jetstar, and Virgin!
Do you have any concerns at this time about flying on Boeing planes?
Unfortunately this is comparable to an Aer Lingus intraeuropean flight which you can easily pay €300+ for economy
Yes the condition of the interiors and cleanliness has really deteriorated over the years as the planes have aged. Especially in Scoot plus.
Great video Dan, love seeing Oscar as well. I cannot believe how dirty the seat was.
Definitely not SQ.
I’m going to wipe all my seats going forward , my big problem are severe Dog allergies.
I will not fly United anymore as their first class on most flights are like a doggy day care.
Unfortunately scoot is the only affordable option for some routes such as Singapore to Greece then Greece to Singapore.
the scoot plane i was travelling on (from KUL to SIN to SYD) two years ago was pretty okay for a LCC. I don't ever remember it being this dirty, but yes the price is definitely something else. I'd rather travel AirAsia from KUL to SYD for less than half the price.
Why I never wear shorts on planes, even when in deepest SEA!
Scoot Plus from Australia to Thailand, twice. Superb value, two of our best flights in a long time. Excellent customer service. Unclear what axe you wish to grind here...?
PS Try what AirAsia class as Premium Economy - NOT Flat Bed - then you can comment more broadly.
He is using this Scoot Arlie to promote his business with the points ! That way on the end he said you don’t have to use this Scoot you can purchase my point member plan !
It's not grinding an axe, it's giving an honest opinion on the flight he took. If I travelled with a flight that dirty I wouldn't be happy either. I've flown Scoot Plus from Australia and Air Asia, Singapore Air and Emirates and to be honest these days sometimes it works out to be better quality/cheaper to fly with the full service airlines than Scoot or Air Asia. It's just his opinion, backed by video evidence of the state of the aircraft. If you like flying Scoot then keep flying them, he's not telling anyone to boycott them or anything.
Guh! Scoot on out of there! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thank You..not taking that one
Flying low cost airlines sucks!
But Scoot really sucks! Having been on 4 Scoot flights recently I was shocked that Singapore Airlines the best airline in the world could have such a crappy low cost carrier.
The only reason I fly Scoot is some destinations have limited choice in flights from Singapore, only positive is I get Krisflyer (Star Alliance) air miles and of course flying from and too Changi.
AirAsia is much better and more polished, OMG even Ryanair is better in Europe.
Did you wipe the headrests? Cuz I saw you putting your face on it 😅
I much prefer Batik. So much nicer.
I remember when you flew Scoot biz from Australia and all the old folk were commenting on how lucky you were to be flying in first class.
I stay in Singapore four star brand hotel and rooms were dusty and bathroom full of hair tiles dirty flor dirty ! Paying $ 300 doll Aus a night ! So not everything is clean in Singapore
*Vouchers, If anyone chooses them remember you forfeit the entire balance of it, maybe I was complacent in my travels but I also don't really get cancelled on by airlines, have you seen the google reviews? I wish I had lol*
I don't know if I'm more shocked to see a Dreamliner in this state or Dan with facial hair lol
Great review guys. And, Dan, keep the beard and stubble please. It suits you.
What? As a subsidiary of Singapore Airlines, which is esteemed for its high standards of service, aircraft that are spotlessly clean and cabins that are kept in tip-top shape, it is very disheartening and disappointing to experience the very dismal state of the cabin in one of its aircraft. Even though it is a budget carrier, I do agree that Scoot's flyers deserve something much, much better--and it does not take much effort to keep its aircraft very clean
Maybe change the name to Soot.
LOL
I voted for this title so cool 👌
Scoot should be like flydubai, not easyjet
Regular Scoot flyer between HK and SG-flew the A321N last week and while not much legroom it was clean.
I experienced what you did on the 787s cleanliness wise. But the fares couldn’t be beat.
I attest to that. The newer A321Neos are still clean! The old A320s are terrible
I've only had positive experiences on Scoot, but when I fly on low-cost carriers I lower my expectations a lot 😂😂😂
Well, as the name suggests, Singapore Airlines reflects Singaporean hospitality, while Scoot just gets you to your destination the cheapest way possible.
but it's not even that cheap nowadays. AirAsia fares could be less than half of Scoot for a similar trip.
Maybe they should change the name to "Scat"....get it?
Flew with them to Singapore and back from Melbourne and yes it was a 1/10 experience. Couldn’t believe how bad the plane and food was. Never again
how much did you pay
LOL LOL LOL sooo funny. Dan & Oskar...what do you expect from SKOOT?? and singapore unless you pay through your nose!!! and I am singaporean... Skoot is going down the tubes
I'm a Singaporean. I prefer air asia than scoot
I've never seen a more filthy plane, and like you, I was in Scoot Plus, but to Melbourne. The Cabin Manager apologised and couldn't move me... My seat was a bio hazard! Happy to share pics anytime!
Aeroplanes are dirty? No way…
Thanks! I WILL AVOID 👑👑👑.
I’ve seen worst beaten down planes
Oh God
Scoot has been forgiving and humane than any low cost airlines I have taken so far. It does not check hand carry weight and at times closes an eye for overweight baggage, i will choose scoot over jetstar or airasia anytime. Besides scoot 787 and A32xneo are spacious and reasonably pleasant for low cost flights. I am surprised why Dan is not impartial to scoot on cleanliness, I have quite confident many other low cost airlines are not any much cleaner than scoot
I will never fly scoots
Dreamliner? More like Nightmareliner
The tone of your voice when you said, "So.....(pregnant pause)" said it all, unpleasant news ahead!
Bro, you glt almost as many channels as Simon Whistler now
Non shave Danxplanation.
I'm still so tired of Ryanair or european low cost operators in Europe and used to travel in a more comfy way (with Trenitalia's train Frecciarossa) that I would pass over the dirty just to have comfier seats
Cleaners going to Singapore airlines instead. This video is what they need to get more people to fly Singapore airlines
The 787 is disgusting but the 321-N is okay
dirty plane / nice muzak!
I flew scoot a couple of times, and every single flight the plane was like this.
And you wondered why COVID-19 spread so fast why not ask scoot?
In my experience, not just Scoot. I flew in PE on Singapore Airlines to Japan on an A380 and the seat was broken, the seats and walls were filthy, the pillow had dried chewing gum on it, the food had hair in it. I complained and they compensated me with some miles but I don't think it makes up for the terrible experience.
oh shut up. that's a one in a million chance with Singapore Airlines, otherwise they're world class.
Guess the airlines have gone back to being really lazy about cleaning the planes.
All those scrapes on top of the plane! It makes you wonder what they were doing to get scrapes there(!)
Not too sure I want to fly an airline that doesn't keep up with plane maintenance. Those top scrapes are really skeeving me out!
BTW, as a useless bit of trivia, the Aussies call Scoot "mango pancakes," due to the colour. But hey, it's not that nastyschoolbus yellow that Spiritless has!
Enjoy your travels! Hugs to you and Oskar!
cant complain because i payed $199 syd-sin return when anything else was 5x the price
Oh, yes, "mango pancakes", I guess you must have got it from that other channel that we both have a mutual connection to...haha 🤣but anyways, 2022 for me may have been my very last flight with Scoot, at least for now, for all the previously mentioned reasons. Unless I'm left with no other choice though.
@@LinaLina-il1sj yes, I'm a big supporter of Syd Squad. Tim and Kurt are dear friends of mine. I enjoy watching the planes come and go. With a little luck, I'll be arriving in Sydney around Christmas or New Year. They've said they'll throw some shrimp on the barbie for me. lol!
OMG, that plane!! They need to retire it. Ive been watching too many seasons of air disasters on prime & planes like that come down. Glad you 2 made it 😵💫 🫶
Scoot: Making Greyhound buses look clean by comparison. So glad I took AirAsia to KUL from SQ. FastPass immigration with a greater cabin allowance and it was cheaper than Scoot that day. As I recall Scoot was running 737s at the times I was looking at; another reason to pass on them.
I'm not convinced that was just dirt if it was the second time you went over it, but rather it's the actual colour from the armrest which is disintegrating - that's why it looked so black
I can’t begin to imagine how they treat maintenance if this is the way they present the plane for service.
scoot uses sq maintenance
I never flown a scoot that is a that freaking bad 😂😂😂 omg
