    This turned out lovely! ♥️Great idea to use the side seam allowance as the tube for the ruching straps/ties! ✨⭐️

      I never thought of it before either, and now I’m like “that’s absolute genius!” The project I’m working on requires having the drawstrings where I don’t have sim allowances, but this has definitely inspired me to make a drawstring dress or two for my next project. Thank you Isa.

    i love these drawstring dresses but it's hard to find cotton ones on Shein most of them are synthetics, so I plan to convert the cotton ones they do sell into one! If I get better I might learn to make one from scratch! thank you for the video!

    Is there a specific stitch length for the zigzag stitches? Beautiful dress by the way✨

    • @isainstitches
      @isainstitches  Před rokem

      Hi! Not really... average. If it's too wide there will be space between the stitches when you pull the fabric apart

    I love this video ! I have a question though. If I didn’t want to make the ruching along the whole dress and just wanted to do it from the hip down instead, how would you recommend going about it ?

    • @isainstitches
      @isainstitches  Před 2 lety

      Hi! You keep the seam allowance as such and you sew them on the entire length, but only insert the straps midway up to the waist (for instance) and sew them there instead of under the arm :)

    hey !! please help how do I fix from the chest to waist if its too loose

    • @isainstitches
      @isainstitches  Před měsícem

      Too loose is easy, run some test to sew closer to your body, that's it! Maybe wear the dress and stick pins to your liking, carefully remove the dress with the pins still on, sew on the pins placement

  • @smolsmol1159
    @smolsmol1159 Před 3 lety

    Question- you made the straight stitch (without backstitching) in order to mark where the hem would go? Then remove it? Is it a necessary step and if so why ?❤🙏😊

    • @isainstitches
      @isainstitches  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi! Absolutely not necessary. I could have taken a ruler and I drawn a line 2 cm from the edge (to respect the seam allowance which is 2 cm wide). I bet most people don't bother measuring to respect those 2 cm and fold just like that.

    • @isainstitches
      @isainstitches  Před 3 lety +1

      I baste it because it's faster (thanks to the lines carved on my sewing machines)

    • @isainstitches
      @isainstitches  Před 3 lety +2

      Jersey is best, 95% cotton, 5% spandex for instance, like my fabric. It's got to be stretchy, so spandex is a must.

    How can this pattern be altered to make the dress minus the drawstrings?

    • @isainstitches
      @isainstitches  Před 3 lety +3

      Remove 1 cm off the outer edges of the pattern (there are 2 cm of seam allowances, if no drawstrings then we just want one). Then sew the sides with 1 cm of seam allowance. That's it!

    • @isainstitches
      @isainstitches  Před rokem

      Hi! Yes of course! Same as this dress: add some cm of seam allowance, enough to create channels for the drawstrings
