Years ago I purchased one of those clevis hitches for a 2 inch receiver so I could use my 4runner to pull a homemade farm wagon which also had a clevis style end on the tongue. The terrain I was going over had lots of dips and peaks, and I learned very quickly, how easy it is to bend a 1 inch thick pin that had to drop through a total of FOUR holes Between the entire engagement. There’s a tremendous amount of force acting there, and you actually need some slop as to not bend parts. I had to learn the hard way.

If you tighten up the slack with a larger pin you will break your hitch pin when your tractor/baler crosses a dip in the field. Something has to give! Years ago I found out the hard way, tractor had a hammer bar on the top of the draw bar as you just purchased with slack pin. I crossed a deep dip in the field pulling a haybine, pin broke and wiped out the pto shaft half that stayed with the tractor. You may get along with your new purchase on flat terrain, but this is the reason for the slack pin to hole size. If you have hilly terrain I’d send the hammer bar back to vendor.

I personally wouldn’t worry that much about the slack. If you get something that’s exact then trying to get the pin through all three holes may become a pain unless it’s all lined up perfectly. I understand why you want too because of the plunger action. Might try a 1” black iron pipe for a spacer. It should be close to the right size.

Came over from K&H Tractors to show support. Definitely a bushing needed for that 1/4" gap. If there's no bushing, maybe there's a 1 inch ID pipe that has 1 & 1/4" OD dimensions (usually can find black pipe with the size you need to fill that void). Sorry, can't offer more than you already know. You and I know that if there's a will, there's definitely a way (smile). NEW SUBSCRIBER here from K&H Tractors. Enjoyed your video and look forward to seeing you use the wagon Ben's prepping. Have a fine week. 👍🏽🙂

That (give) is there for a reason.
To give you space for movement. If not you'd twist or bend it. Remember, the whole is a right fit in the baler itself.
You could use washers to fill in the space. I personally wouldn't.

You'll put some strain on things if don't have some give. Not a problem. Thanks for the videos.

If you install the bolts from the bottom that way if the nut backs off the bolt will fall out and you will notice it

Grew up on a farm, we never worried about slack like you are talking about. Yes over years of service it does wear the draw bar hole oblong but I'm talking generation.

@@WilliamsonRidge you usually choose pin size buy the size of the hole on what ever you are going to pull. Brawl bar holes are max for the size of bar strength wise, and it is used in so many applications. But I hear ya brother that slapping pin sound can get to ya.

Thats what I do, use bushings, I made some out of thin steel pipe, they work, they wear a bit but I just make new ones. I keep them oiled so they don't rust. I got all kinds of second hand accessories and you got to be creative so you can get to work.

I don't know if they make bushings like that but your local machine shop should be able to hook you up, also you might be able to get a long pin to go through everything so you don't have to take off the hammer strap
