Anthurium Vittarifolium care and propagation

- The Anthurium Vittarifolium is a very underrated Anthurium that no one seem to talk about. This plant exudes very strong jungle vibes and looks a bit like jungle cacti with just as easy care. The leaves are thick and leathery with an accent line running down the middle. It also puts out these cute tiny flowers frequently. In this video I propagate the plant into 3 and give you guys growth updates on everybody.

I really love by the way when you do propagation, experimenting on substrates propagation style and the UPDATE AFTER INTO ONE SHOW .BRAVO 👏 keep it up .
Thank youuu. I love this format for all my species care. Hope ya’ll are enjoying success with your propagations too!
I got one ...small one. Can't wait for it to grow bigger. Yup...very thirsty plant, but so pretty!!!
❤️❤️
Love seeing the beautiful new roots. Also that subtle bloom.
Love the updates
Love this! I hope to see more Anthuriums videos soon 🤩🙌🏼
Beautiful!!! This is going to be my wishlist plant for 2021. Thanks for this video.
Beautiful. I love it
Love your presentation. Very informative. Thank you 🙏
Can't wait for more anthurium videos! My favorite araceae genus 🔥
I watch your videos for the plants but stay for the commentary captions lol they're the best
Thank youuu
Love to see updates on propagations. super video again. mine has gone sort of dormant at the moment.
Yikes, such bravery! Thank you for another excellent video.🐸
Its very relaxing to look at all those beautiful plants that GOD made
Thanks for sharing your videos.. 🙏
In my plant wishlist 💚
Hey Sean, beautiful beautiful specimen...😉🌿
For ornamental plant lovers in 2021, love it
The way you threw those flowers be like, "Get outta my face, hos!" LOL
Or, "Be gone, bitches! " 😂
I loved that you stay calm and strong for us 😍
😛
Your videos are so fun to watch! I love your (nerdy) sense of humor! I just got my first Antherium and it’s an Anthurium Vittarifolium. Thank you for your help with it. Love from Long Island, NY!
Haha thank you 😛
Thank you for the video. At first when you took only 1 cutting , I was thinking ...hmmm thats not Sean , what happened to the "greedy" part. Then you took your second cutting ...hahaha. Entertaining and informative as usual.
Haha yes. I feel like I couldve done more... maybe next time round
It is good to watch you perform propagation surgery first before I attempt it! By the way, I thought the Anthurium neckties looked pretty cool!!
I just got an anthurium pallidiflorum and I can’t find many videos on it but this one is similar! Thank you for explaining how it grows in such detail even though I don’t have this same plant it was very helpful
Yeah they are epiphytic anthuriums, the care must be similar
I love your setup.
Thank you 🤓
I love to see more Anthurium video's please
I've been binging your videos. They are so informative and chill- reinforcing plants as a therapeutic hobby of mine. Keep making videos! (at your discretion and availability of course ^_^)
Thank youuu
Loved it Sean
🥰🥰
I just got one of these, definitely going to top dress it with spag moss now. I was going to put it by a South facing window, but maybe less light? 🤔 Can't wait till it grows thus big!
Hello there! tx for posting this, buddy (= Oh, I still hunting stones everywhere I go - stones are expensive here these days, like everything else on plants markets - to put in my plastic pots, so I don't have to save money for the terracota pots.. heheh.. I never got a Anth. Vitt. before, but I think they're so beautiful..
Received my baby plant today! Can’t wait to propagate them 😂 #GoBigorGoHome
I absolutely love your videos! So happy you made this on the vittarifolium there's really no information on them. I just bought a seedling 2 months ago and its given me 3 baby leaves! my favorite plant right now! it's lovely! Thank you for such great content!💚
I repot this plant after almost 2 months in perlite. So fingers crossed hope it's going to thrive and thank you for this video. Helps a lot to increase my understanding on this plant
Good luck. This is actually a very adaptive plant I found out.
I just bought 2 tiny seedlings for $25 each here in Australia. Have wanted one for a while now. Love the jungle look. A very timely video for me as I coulnt find any info on propagating these. Thanks Sean
Wow that's a good price . Here in Canada 🇨🇦 aroid so expensive.
I really like your clear explain how to care about plant I'm also rare plant collected and I so much interested your videos .
To day I got my first vittarifoilum baby plant 💚💚💚
Very helpful your this video for me
Thanks so much
💚💚💚💚💚💚💚
Thank you 🥰🥰
Info dan tutorial yang sangat lengkap, thank you share nya , kereen dan semoga selalu sukses
Sama2
i have one tiny leaf growing out below the hanging plastic pot. I had to cut away the pot to release the leaf and see if it is a foreign plant or weed and it turns out it's a baby growing from its root :)
12:51 So cute! Haha. Hi Sean! This anthurium is currently my unicorn plant. It's beautiful!
🥰🥰
Thank you king
Got a Vittarifolium today by chance from a local collector, I am excited to grow it! ~ Just googled Furadan, it's one of the three most toxic pesticides. Maybe you can find something less scary!
Whoaa Ill look into it thank you
Stunning! Here in Manila, Phils, one leaf costs 300 USD. So expensive!
I have the variegated version. I thought the price was a joke when I was first told about how one costs now.
Where are you checking your plant prices? Too overpriced po source niyo
Suka banget sama video nya,, salam kenal dari indonesia
Makasihh. Salam kenal
I really want this plant
I find that mine really like moss too! 👔
😂😂😂 Anthurium tie! You’re so funny!
👍😍
I have two seedlings of this plant that I am trying to grow. I just love it, but it's very expensive to get here.
Yes yes Sean, we want pollination video 😅🙏🏼
I am still trying to figure it out, but things are so hectic at the moment 😀
Another interesting video, Sean. Btw do you spell it Sean, Shawn, Shaun...? The best part is the follow ups!! Most youtubers say they will follow up later but you don't release the video until you have the updates. I love it 💚
Hello its Sean 😛
@@onlyplants nice to meet you Sean 💚. I just discovered your videos recently and am really enjoying them. Thank you.
i definitely think you need to let your anthurium get naughty with each other!!!
Great video, just subscribed! I have one arriving in 4 days time iv'e bought a plastic orchid pot for it but watching your video I'm not so sure now wether to use that or terracotta? Perhaps I'll melt a few extra holes in it for more airflow...
Terracotta will be great for them. They are epiphytes that love that airiness
Many thanks ill clean up an old one
Hi Sean, love your videos. Wouldn't potting them up straight in your aroid mix help them get established faster than using the moss, considering they (roots) were already growing in soil in the first place...
Yepp theoretically you are right, but many plants (especially anthuriums) propagate much faster in moss. Something about the airiness and humidity of the substrate.
@@onlyplants thanks for that info. Wish I lived in indo still just for being able to grow these plants with no worries!! My mom has hers in her garden in Jakarta and mine is sitting in a cabinet here in Australia 🤣
Just ordered one 😍
🙈🙈 they are so fun to multiply. I have a few around my garden now
I wish I could keep them outside all year round !
I wish I could keep them outside all year round !
💚🌿
Kalo main kermh Sean kira2 dikasih tanaman ga yaaa.... 🤭😅 Love your channel Sean..salam dari Bogor 😁
Haha Im not a giver 🤗
I almost killed my mom's anthurium vittarifolium once, I was home alone for a month and I forgot to water all her plants. Thank God it's sprouting new leaf and root now
now i know that i own one of these
😀
...i love to have one of this!
I saw one online and not so sure if it is really the same coz it seems not. . .it is pricey so afraid to get one. . .it's the one n only shopee shop whoe sells such in my country...
Shopee is hit or miss I think they ship without proper documentations too?
@@onlyplants
...some plants i received from your country like my 5 bonsai has inspection sticker from your agriculture something. . .but most just came with no inspection..hahaaaaa
I guess those with suspected soil like th bonsaissss has to be checked but for orchids with just moss or staghorn fern mounted on a slab are not...
more videos on other varieties of anthurium pls....
Coming right up!
i loose more leaves then i get on mine but i think thats due to less humidity and light
Hi I have a question, would it survive if propagated with only the stem and roots without a leaf? Same as philodendrons? Because I accidentally cut the lower stem with roots only when I repotted my variegated vittarifolium. I just planted it too hoping foe it to give shoots 🙏 Thank you.
Yes it can. Might be slower though
@@onlyplants thank you 😉🙏
Your anthurium is sooo majestic!! Do have any experiences with pallidiflorums? I just got one and want to make it look like your vittarifolium :)
I dont have the pallidiflorum, they have wider leaves I heard
@@onlyplants lol I'm going to assume caring for it will be similar. Hopefully, my anthurium pedatoradiatum will put out a new leaf by the time I get the pallidiflorium to boost my confidence in anthuriums🥴
Sekali kali buat video khusus bahasa indonesia dong, biar org indonesia bisa nonton juga hehe
This is #1 on my wishlist but I can’t seem to find one anywhere. ☹️
Ooo hope people grow and multiply this so everyone can have one
What's the red plant next to the mother plant? Anthurium Vittarifolium just went to the top of my wish list!
That is a rhipsalis ramusola 😀
Anthuriums seem to be expensive now. It’s crazy.
Mine is going pale so I stopped watering it. Its in aroid mix. I have new growth but its tiny. What do I do. Its in 60% humidity under a growlight but not directly under it
Soil drys out in 2 to 3 weeks
If soil dried out in 2-3 weeks it may be too soggy, try to switch it to airier mix? I water my plant every day as it gets dry. But it lives in terracotta, aroid potting mix, outdoors and in very bright indirect light. New growths start out tiny and the leaves do expand in side so give it some time.
Can you help me the leaves of my plant is pale without outside, I already tried less water more light and vitamins but the intense green does not recover
Try sending a photo to my instgram @bo.tan.ist so maybe I can troubleshoot it
Hai Sean… could you help me explaining the difference between anthurium vittarifolium and anthurium bakeri ?
Thx alot ..👍
Bakeri is much more compact, and is known to self pollenate giving bright red fruits. They are also harder to find (here in Indonesia) and costs a lot more than vittarifolium
I want one so bad
Hi Shaun - I have just got hold of what they call here in Australia ‘anthurium super red’ - I’m looking for it’s correct name and wondering if you would know it - it’s origin is not Australia!
A name like that would suggest that it was a hybrid. But I am not familiar with that one sorry 😅
hi sean pls recommend which plantshop can ship to uae
I can’t sorry. I don’t have experience with international trade.
My one leaf is pale 🥲 what do I do
Its in aroid mix watered when half dry. 70% humidity 😫
Try top dressing it with a bit of sphagnum moss, and let it dry out a bit longer between watering. The moss should seal humidity in the potting mix which gives you more room to let it dry out more.
@@onlyplants ill do that thank u !
Do u plant all ur anthuriums in just spagnum?
Nope sphagnum just for temporary propagations. I grow them in my aroid potting mix
Is this the same plant as the pendent?
Im not sure what the pendent refer to 😅. But this is a type of pendular anthurium. There a few types of anthuriums like this 😀
How many times/1 weeks should I water the anthurium vittarifolium plant?
It depends on too many variables.. your environment, the potting media, pot type and size, plant age and size… feel the soil and water it deeply after its bone dry.
@@onlyplants thank you very much
I am also wishing that I have that one. Omaay
God, it broke me when you cut the flowers off😭
God, it broke me when you cut the flowers off😭
How long does it take to grow?
Fast actually… the one cutting from this video is now quite large and always flowering… they probably mature up in 1.5 years if cared correctly
Hi sir do you have some veitchii for sale...im from philippine love to have rhis kind of plant...wish i could buy if you have
I dont and I cant export too 😅
@@onlyplants huhu ilove watching your videos i always watch...i cant trust ramdom seller in indonesia im scared
@@onlyplants hope you have trusty friends out there can sell and export plants i love to hear...im a propagator and seller of rare indor plants
Cane i propagat it in water ?
Yes you can. Might be hard to find a vessel for it because of its shape though
Hello! I was wondering whether you could tell us the difference between an anthurium pallidiflorum and an anthurium vittarifolium?😊
I’ve never heard or seen the pallidiflorum before sorry 😅
Sama atau beda antara anthorium vittarifolium vs anthorium wendlingeri ?
Aku belum pernah liat anthurium wendlingeri 😅
Bagus bang kapan2 kalo udah dapat anthurium wendlingeri tolong dibahas ya sekalian perbedaanya....thnxs
I actually prefer the philodendron bakeri
Hi Sean, is your in mom Taiwanese?
Nope my sister in law is though
@@onlyplants Ha! I didn't expect you would reply to this thought. Thanks for that.
sorry.... i dont want to be rude.... but wanted to ask y do you keep propogating your plants when they aren't very big.... does that do something for the plants.......
It will stunt their growth, reverting them to a younger age. But for all my parent plants they grow multiple branches instead of one. Also the propagated plants will be growing in separate pots. I dont mind waiting 2-3 years for them to reach a mature size. The waiting is fun for me, but its not always fun for others 😛
Aaargh herbarium
😀
im like whyyy hah
Anthuriums are one of those geni I am shying away from. Mostly because I'm scared to kill them
Wanna swap plant? Barter?
Haha DM me if you are in Indonesia
Go big or go home XD
You lost actually two leaves
Ouch 3 leaves instead
🥹🥹 im so clumsy
23°F in you bedroom with the air conditioner on? Brrr... Thats about what it is here where I live 26°F real feel is 19°F .... Brrrr..
