I was 26 when this song was a hit. So cool cruising in my GS400 convertable with the top down and listening to this great song. Great memories ! I miss my youth !
Oh I know just what you're saying ..... Gosh those were the good ol'days! I miss those times also. I was a sophomore in high school 1972 and loved this song so much. My friends all thought I was strange because of my eclectic and diverse music interests. Just no heavy metal. Your car must have been really something! In '72 I was either riding the school bus or my bicycle LOL! Wasn't until '73+'74 that I rode around in friend's cars ..... great memories of mustangs, VW bugs, GTO's and so on. My grandmother had a '56 Chevy and I remember a few boys asking me if she'd be willing to sell it. She didn't. It was her pride and joy. Mint condition. Even the radio worked! Ahhh, those were the days! 😊 Still love that song! 🎶 🎹 🎵
Yep, I was just starting out in the 9th grade when this was popular...most of my schoolmates' first cars were MG Midgets or "B"-models...I was riding the school bus, or on my bike, to get to school...
I was 26 years of age… just transferred from Kansas City, Mo. to Miami, Florida, to manage an all women’s health club, called My Fair Lady Figure Salon in Coral Gables, Florida… a grand place.. with a bright future!
72 was the year i graduated from High school. I remember this song so well. Brings back memories of living in the country and those starry night and beautiful days with family !!❤❤❤

....ah, no. You can go back but I'll just stay here and enjoy the music.... If I had to repeat my school years again...... let's just leave that unsaid.....
@I STAN - Heard that. But! You'd be a time traveler, able to accurately predict the future. You'd be rich like frickin' Elon Musk and not even have to consider public school. High school years without the hassles - c'mon, let's roll with it, lol!
Amazing that you are playing this song today. it was one of our favorite songs, my college boyfriend and I LOVED it....he would have been 70 today....THANK YOU SO MUCH!🥲💗
@@richardboudeman8372 yeah that's another good jam to I didn't know he remix that now I'ma have to look for that but yeah most of the songs that he remixes he does usually make them a little bit longer than usual lol like when he did you Make me feel like dancing dance the night away damn I can't remember that guy's name and I got the song and can't remember his name lol
@@lovebuzz1979 hey you know what at first I thought you said this is my go-to song when I want to me me LOL without realizing that that was your profile name I was like what but see that was my fault because I wasn't really paying close attention 😄👍
The silver lining of growing up with your older cousins, besides strengthening your character by being bullied on a daily basis, got tired of messing with me and settle down to do their homework and listen to cool music like this mellow piece. Great touch Mr.Meow , your masterful production skills in full display, simple yet incredibly genius! 👌
I Was 10 Years Old When I First Heard This Fun Song On The Car Radio, And Remembering Everyone Tapping Their Pants And Door Sides With Their Hands, While Singing To It . . . Great 51 Now Year Old Fishback . . . :-)
Truly a great memory from 50 ( did I say 50 ) years ago... True Gem... Thank You for making it longer, better and much cooler! Thank you for keeping this alive for the next 50+...A++++
I remember hearing this hit hit way back in 1973, and am enjoying DiscoCat’s refreshment. By the way, Selena Gomez recorded her version of “Dancing In The Moonlight” during her stint on THE WIZARDS OF WAVERLY PLACE.
The piano was a last addition to this tune...they felt like something was missing to the it and one day they were at the check out line at the Toy-R-Us and suddenly they hear this different piano sound and when they looked over they saw this small child playing a children's piano...and that was it, the missing piece.
This is the version I know and like best, even though it's a cover. I didn't like the slower tempo version from Lone Star, whose rendition was based on the original version from Boffalongo. I recently heard in another video that this song was spawned after a violent act was perpetrated against the members and one of their girlfriends by a gang. P.s. You need to extend "Free" by the Rascals, that song still resonates today as when it first came out. While pointing no fingers, the song convicts those who know that they are doing wrong.
I recently read a story claiming this song is about an attack on a young tourist couple, which included the woman being raped in front of the man. I wasn't sure what to think, as I don't pick that up from the lyrics.
