I get almost all of my book recommendations from Booktube, so therein is the impact it has on my reading and what I buy. I find it interesting that the reason YA even exists is that we recognized preadolescence, and created the term of teenager. "Real discussions with other book lovers." I love Booktube! Yeah, I have over a thousand books on my Goodreads TBR, and if they all came on Booktube, there definitely has been diversity with recs. I LOVE how Booktube has so much influence. I never really think about how global Booktube is - like, a SPANISH booktube?!? That's so cool! Ariel even said that she predicts Booktubers writing books will become a much bigger thing in the future, because of their already-present fans. I would LOVE. a video for the other two articles!

This is so thorough and well researched! I wish publishers would recognize Booktubers’ influence more, in terms of shouting them out + compensation, because hours upon hours of work is put in behind the scenes of Booktubers’ channels and they have a ton of influence in the book community in terms of creating buzz, discussions, and trends in the book world

There is a wide range of topics that you take to time to talk about or challenges/TAGs your take the time to try. I think that's very cool and innovative because your channel still only talks about books, book characters, authors, etc.

It is true that there is less money in Spanish book tube, but there is so much more variety and quality in my opinion. But its not only because of the book tubers, its mainly because of Spanish literature in general. Spanish lit is a lot more diverse and evolved than English lit. English lit is a lot more saturated with fast novels such as easy contemporary or YA, but Spanish lit is more focused on the richness of the stories than just putting out a fast pace page turner. Also, Spanish speaking booktubers not only read books in Spanish, but also in English, so they have much more diverse and broad recommendations. This is why there is a lot more interaction and discussion of books in the Spanish community than English community.

Comparing sociological, statistical, economical studies vs the eye test or prejudices or biases should be a common way to know the truths and lies. I would be very interested to know about the mental health impact of maintaining a book-specific social media presence and following, as reading is considered a relaxing, leisure activity but BookTube can often be a job. I would also be interested to know about sexism in BookTube, especially among BookTubers that mainly review YA, and the impacts of that sexism. Also, I think it would be important to highlight non-white BookTubers because of the proliferation of whiteness-as-normal that might serve as a barrier between BookTubers of color and the books BookTubers overall review.
