    Well done. I’ve had my car 4 weeks and thought I knew most all of this. Not true. Learned a bunch. Tailgate height adjustability was one key thing. Had no idea there was a key slot under the door handle. Thanks for the video. These are incredible cars.

    Really appreciated this video for helping me get started with my 2021 Macan S that I picked up about a month ago. I have one question that I've not been able to get answered anywhere. It concerns the navigation system. I have no problem putting in a destination (address) and saving it. However, I would like to rename those saved destinations to show whose address they are (i.e. label them with a person's name). I could not find any option for renaming a destination to be something other than just a street address. Is this possible? Thanks.

    • @theporschepro1065
      @theporschepro1065  Před 3 lety +2

      It's a rather interesting process I just recently discovered how to do. Add the address with the name as a contact in your phone, THEN through the navigation system, search for that contact. Once it's been selected, you can save it with a name in the car! It's the only way I've been able to find to do so.

    • @CarlBrainerd
      @CarlBrainerd Před 3 lety +2

      @@theporschepro1065 You're right, that technique does work. I tried it successfully. I did need to connect my iPhone in PCM mode instead of CarPlay, but once that was done the PCM could see my address book and it worked. Then I had to figure out how to reconnect to CarPlay, and Device Manager seemed to do the trick. So far, so good.
      After I posted my note, I discovered another CZcams video on this topic from the Las Vegas dealer. Using a different technique, he was able to put in a new address and immediately rename it. Here are the exact steps he followed, as best I could write them down-
      1. Go to NAV.
      2. Select DEST to input a destination.
      3. Put the address in via the "House #" option.
      4. This caused the destination icon to appear on the map. (I think this may be the key enabling step)
      5. Click on the destination icon on the map. This causes an info box with the street address to appear just above the icon.
      6. Click on that info box above the destination icon.
      7. Click to Start Route Guidance.
      8. Go to Favorites (FAV).
      9. Click Stored Destinations.
      10. Click "+ Add New Destination".
      11. On the list of addresses that comes up, click on the new address.
      12. Click the new address on the destination list.
      13. Click "options" at the top of screen. This causes a list of options to appear, including "Edit Entry"
      14. Click on "Edit Entry". This causes a list of things that can be edited to appear.
      15. Select "Name" as the parameter to change.
      16. Type in the new name, then OK.
      17. Go "Back". There was also a "Confirm" button on the page that I assume would have done the same thing.
      I was able to duplicate this procedure, too, and it does not require any gymnastics with the phone. I can't confirm it for sure, but it looks like step 7 (Start Route Guidance) and clicking on the destination icon on the map might be the key steps here. I never tried them when I was looking for a solution without success. It seems to be designed backwards. I had assumed that any editing would be done before starting route guidance, but it may be that the Porsche software designers did it the other way. After seeing this, I was able to edit a destination that I had put in previously. Once the destination icon appeared on the map where it could be clicked, the process above worked. Wow, that seemed complicated! But it did work. At some point in my experimentation, the desired option menu did not appear, but I found that clicking on the little "star" next to the destination name in the little "info" box made the correct option menu appear. So it seems there are a coupe of ways to skin this cat....

      @@evillusion0 Well that's a matter of opinion, but I'm a sucker for the Sport Classic wheels, or the 911 turbo wheels. Sport classics are ALOT easier to clean however!

       @The Porsche Pro Yeah, thanks, in bad weather it is easy to unbalance the car, especially with the spyder design ... I never have seen the dolomite silver and do not know what color of rims good for such car, black, metallic, or in car color?

      @@evillusion0 With how bright of a silver Dolomite is, in my opinion, I love silver or a cut wheel surface. Really matches nicely.

    Porsche doesn't stand behind the quality of their vehicles. The transfer case on my 2015 Macan S has failed twice now in only 27,000 miles. This is a known issue which caused Porsche to extend their warranty to 7 ys. Their "improved" transfer case lasted only 2 years 2 months and 9,000 miles. I am out of warranty by 6 weeks and Porsche turns their back on problem and sticks me for $3,200 repair. Don't buy a Porsche w/o extended warranty for entire length of time you expect to own it. #1 rated warranty company - Endurance - won't even sell coverage on Macan. That should tell Porsche and all potential buyers something. Customer experience is far from an expected premium car brand experience.

      @@maxim4458 thank you for sharing this. Very interesting. You would think Porsche would be aware. I wonder if this would have saved me $3k on my 2nd transfer case replacement.

    I love the video, but PLEASE work on not saying “of course” every 5 words. It’s super distracting. Thanks!

      This is quite an old video. I feel like I've gotten better. These are initially just used to send to customers that weren't local to us that I couldnt personally deliver their car. However, it seems there's a bigger audience for it than I thought!
