      Nick is the only (mostly) car channel I've stuck with. Salomondrin is too loud and over-the-top (sort of like an overgrown adolescent). Vehicle Virgins used to be great but he moved out west, gave up his pleasant college kid persona, and started acting over-the-top like Salomondrin and thus got annoying (although videos including his mom are great). Schmee is okay. Matt Farrah talks way too much. AutoTopNL is good with his little-talk-POV videos. But Nick's car and lifestyle videos just continue to be welcome whenever they're released. I know Nick is IT and so am I so maybe I "connect" with him at that level somehow. Plus I have a growing interest in cameras, camera equipment, and drones so Nick's videos give us that too. Plus it's nice to see a legal, culturally compatible, and productive immigrant.

So I am a huge fan of the old look vs. the new look. In fact just traded in my 2015 Macan S for a 2018 Macan S. I avoided the new one just because of the rear lights

    • @ale3hs
      @ale3hs Před 5 lety +2

      Agreed, the facelift Macan has an audi TFSI 3.0 while the previous gen has the 3.0 Porsche engine which is also found in the panamera 4s/s facelift tuned to 420.

    • @gizamlukeable
      @gizamlukeable Před 5 lety +1

      Yes you are correct. The 2.0L T remained the same while the new 3.0L is an Audi derived engine. But both engines are heavily tweaked and worked on by Porsche engineers. The new 3.0L has a single twin-scroll turbocharger located centrally in the inner-V of the engine which helps reduce turbo lags and improve responsiveness. Not like the old Macans were suffering from these issues, so it is even better now. The "hot-V" layout is unique to Porsche and not used on the VW counter parts.
      All these changes even before mating to Porsche's famous PDK dual clutch gear box. Even the 2.0L T comes to life with the PDK.
      Both 2.0L and 3.0L are good engines, just depending on one's needs.
      Many believe the new 2.9L twin-turbocharged also "hot-V" seen on the Panamera & Cayenne S will be on the new Macan GTS / Turbo.

    Good summary. Some errors related to the engine in the S model though. The old engine is in fact all Porsche. The new engine is a VW/Audi unit. The old engine is a twin turbo, and the new is a single scroll turbo. A major difference is that the old engine was a dry sump, and the new is not. So, the new engine saves Porsche considerable cost, but is a step backward. Yes, they've turned up the turbo a little to offset this but a real enthusiast would be disappointed; much like replacing the lovely flat six in the Cayman with a turbo 4.....more horse power/torque, but another disappointment from a manufacturer reducing costs and trying to meet mileage targets.

    Previously, the Macan S used a Porsche-developed 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6, but now, it's been replaced with an Audi-sourced single-turbo 3.0-liter V6 making 348 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque. It's the same basic engine found in the base Cayenne and Panamera, as well as the Audi S4, S5, and SQ5, though it gets some software changes.

      Not sure where you're from but in Germany that's because there's a new law that every new car from now on has to be equipped with OPF (Otto-particle-filter). Kills the sound almost completely...

      @@blankspace5614 It's not just that, even without the OPF, the new one sounds way worse.

      @@trihardcx6743 Oh ok. I'm not even sure what they sound like tbh because pretty much all Macans here in Germany are Diesel lol

    Nick, love the channel. I’m a tall one at 6’5”. Think I would fit into a Macan?

    Hi Nick, would you go for an old shape turbo or new shape S petrol? Cheers from Wales, Richard

      New shape S. The older engines have proved to be terrible reliability wise and the New S is just as powerful as the old Turbo even if Porsche numbers do not admit it.

    Hi Nick I’ve got a 2017 (66) Volcano Greg Macan S. Brilliant daily driver. If I’m honest I prefer the old rear lights. Very cool and part of the design features that drew me to the car. The next version in 2022 should be really interesting with hybrid and battery options. I had looked at other colours also but the Grey is a solid colour and looks refined.

    The Porsche refresh is at least a 6 pak better looking than the old model.

    And now Tui pooped in the showroom. So, what dealer do you have now as your local one?

    I would still choose the Diesel Engine, I don't think the changes to the 2019 model would be worth the sacrifice of the Diesel Macan S engine
