- The Masterbuilt gravity series 800 is a great and versatile grill. This grill is so feature packed with the ability to grill, smoke, and it has a griddle flattop insert. I can't get enough of this grill.

They are Heavy. lol just put mine together yesterday. love it
I love mine as well!
Fellow cajun here, Would love to see a video of a cleanup after a cook or some preventative maintenance. The only thing keeping me from pulling the trigger on one of these. I can’t imagine cooking a Boston butt with all those drippings.
When I cook anything like that I put a pan under it to catch the drippings. Cleanup is actually not bad because the entire bottom tray slides out from the back.
@@WestCoastCajunCuisine 10 4, wife went Black Friday shopping and only thing available was the 1050 for $800. Was wanting the 800, how much did u pay for the 800?
@@southcoastdub Get it! That's a deal! I payed that much for my 800.
Walmart has the 800 for $549 right now, buying it as I write this message
@@christopherdelapaz6326 Nice! That's a good price!
This is my next grill. For sure!
Totally worth it!
Smashing that like button for the intro guitar alone. The rest ain't bad either. Thanks for the review.
Thank you sir! Appreciate that.
Great Video! I did a lot of research on charcoal and decided to return the Cowboy Lump Charcoal and get the B&B Char-logs. According to how they're designed, they burn nice, long and HOT! Which charcoal do you like?
I use B&B as well when I can find it. If not I'll use regular Kingsford.
Another novice question here. I understand that it sears as high as 700. But there is no flame involved? The cooking on the sear is just from the smoke/air coming through the mamifold below, correct? I hear that people love it so much it replaces their gas grills. But there is no flame underneath?
That is correct but there is enough heat coming out of that manifold that it will sear I have done it quite a few times. I do have a suggestion though if you were going to run your grill above 400 make sure you keep it clean if there is any fat build up you will get a grease fire.
My god this is cheap in the states. Thinking about buying this in Norway an its $1150😱
Yeah thats about $400 mark up.
Putting the griddle feature aside, is this essentially the 1050 but smaller? 1050 looks great but sizewise I think overkill for what I need for my family.
Exactly. The 1050 has 1050 cubic square inches of cooking space and the 800 has 800.
i want one
Man this grill is awesome! Well worth it.
What kind of charcoal or lump would you recommend?
If you can find it , I would suggest B&B charcoal and or lump. In a pinch I'll use regular Kingsford charcoal.
@@WestCoastCajunCuisine ok thank you. Also, did the inside of your hood have the infamous glue that won’t come off? 🤔. I would hope by now they would have corrected this issue.
@@RedRoxRc It had glue on it but I didn't have an issue getting it off.
In the intro it looked like smoke was coming out of every seam… In normal use is that the case ?
What are the pros and cons ?
In the intro what you are seeing is the initial burn off. I got it cranked up to burn off all the manufacturer oils. Then I season it. The pros are pretty much how amazing this grill is for the price. It's also the con. They had to cut corners somewhere to bring it to it's price point and that was the materials used and the build quality. Although not bad you have to keep up with it. Keep it covered from the rain and keep it clean. If you don't it could rust. The manifold is going to rust from the heat anyway but you want to keep the rest of the grill from rusting. The manifold is easily replaceable. My grill is still in great condition.
So how does the whole hopper full of charcoal not continue to burn up when you turn the grill off
If you look back at around 3:45 in the video you see me insert 2 flat metal pieces. When you cook you take those out. When you are done you turn off the grill and place those pieces back in and it cuts off the oxygen to the coals and they will go out.
1st like im here watching my guy 🍻
Thanks bro!
am budgeting for this one, saw one for £699, am getting it
Yeah that's a great deal. You will enjoy it!
I just found this in the US from Walmart for $549 USD.
@@lionjunkdrawer2386 what a deal! I'm jealous! Lol
@@WestCoastCajunCuisine as jealous as I was around 7:26 when I saw those ribs?
@@lionjunkdrawer2386 lol
I can't find one anywhere , WalMart has it online but they want 200$ for shipping
Yeah that's the problem I had. I found one about 2 hours south of were I lived and drove down to get it.
I'm not sure what the delivery times look like, but if you go through MasterBuilt directly, it ships for free.
@@torkmason Are they saying they have them in stock?
@@WestCoastCajunCuisine there’s nothing that clearly says they’re out of stock. Just a vague disclaimer at checkout that says “delivery times may be longer than usual and our selection of items available may be temporarily reduced.” I’m in no position to buy one right now, but I went through the checkout process just to see.
@@torkmason Yeah I had to travel 1 and 15 minutes to another city to get mine.
What are your cons with it?? I just got one
There is some maintenance you should keep up with. Keep it clean! If you have the griddle on and get it above 500 degrees it may warp. It will go back into shape when it cools. Keep it seasoned. If you live in a place that is humid and rains often, get the cover for it. It's a great grill but remember, it's less than $1,000 so they had to cut coasts some how and some of that was in the materials they used. It's like an old car. Keep up with it and it will serve you well. Enjoy!
So I guess my cons are the amount of keep up and the griddle but don't let that discourage you, it's a great grill. Mine is still going strong and use it 2-3 times a week.
Thank you
One more question. Do you have it plugged to an outlet or remote?
@@cabaz07 I have it plugged in an outlet.
I really want to like this thing, but just can’t bring myself to buy it over the Char-Griller Gravity 980.
Yeah I get that. I don't know much about the char-grill but I do know that the gravity series is damn good. I bet you couldn't go wrong with either one though.
@@WestCoastCajunCuisine only issue I have is longevity. Every review I’ve seen says they feel the char-griller is better built for less money. Aside from that I prefer the form factor of the masterbuilt as well as the rotisserie option they have. If I felt better about the masterbuilt lasting I’d be more inclined to buy it over the char-griller.
I feel the same but I've seen a lot of complaints about poor QC with the Char-Griller and poor customer service in those situations.
@@iankelly7864 as a follow up, I DID end up deciding to pull the trigger on the MB1050. No regrets.
What are your pros and cons ? I want one but am concerned with the hot spots on the bottom racks. I don’t want a grill where I can’t utilize the entire grill without being concerned of over heating.
There are some hot spots but they are manageable. My biggest concern was the manifolds rusting due to the high heat. After each cook I clean the manifold and apply oil to it. My second concern was that if I heat the flattop over 500 degrees then it warps but goes right back into shape once it cools down so I just don't cook over 500 degrees on the flat top. The bottom grades and the flat top are cast iron so you have to keep them seasoned that's what I was talking about when I said there's a little bit of maintenance to it but I don't mind it.
The pros are that it works as advertised! And compared to other grills on the market it's very affordable.
@@WestCoastCajunCuisine thanks for the reply man I really appreciate it and great video as well
@@HippoLand808 Thank you. Oh and as far as the hotspots. I smoked a whole alligator that took up about 95% of the bottom rack and it came out wonderful! Just control your temps and keep an eye on it and I don't think you'll have a problem.
@@WestCoastCajunCuisine Awesome. Next time the MS800 comes in stock in my area I’ll be picking one up.
