  • The Kimberley region of Western Australia is a beautiful place. But it is home to communities in crisis - devastated by a pattern of suicides among young Aboriginal people. A glimmer of hope emerges in the form of Prof Juli Coffin, a Nyangumarta woman and mental-health professional who enlists her herd of horses to create deeply felt connections between animal and human. Prof Coffin's programme uses a culturally appropriate setting to support long-term healing for some of Australia's most vulnerable young people.

I have taken part in equine therapy for PTSD, it was such a lovely experience I felt so connected to the horse we were breathing each others breath. It teaches boundaries, control and gives a sense of power back to those who feel powerless. I will never forget it.

Since 1988 I have had a 4-H club that connects kids and horses on the last horse property in our town and area
We run a small stable on donations and volunteers. We believe that having kids work with and Enjoy horses through a relationship of Respect and Trust in a safe environment creates an opportunity for healing to take place. 🐎❤️🐎

such a wonderful thing, and to see the looks on their faces when they are around the animals.

I’m so glad the children have access to equine therapy. I wish all those who need it could get it.

Why not support all suicidal youngsters in the region? Not just one group.
