Helping the people as always sir
Lol really msi vector gp68 hx 12v 1599 Dollar is here in europe 1489 Euro. I bought it for 2400 euro😂
Hi Jarrod. Thanks for the awesome and informational content. I'm looking forward to buy a laptop with RTX 4060 mainly for 1080-1440p gaming and some coding. May I know Should I go for Ryzen 5 7640hs or Ryzen 7 7840 hs?
How about asus tuf f17..?
you tested the g5 with only 8gigs of ram and keep saying it underperforms,it seems as though you have a hate boner for gigabyte
I watch these for entertainment
Yeah same
Same
lol same
What do you mean by that? 😅🤲💔
Because dont have money to buy?
I bought my laptop a couple years ago based on your recommendation (Lenovo Legion 5 Pro) and was very happy with it. Thanks to your video on it, I knew exactly what I was getting and how it would perform in games. I recommended your page to a friend who ended up buying an Acer Nitro 5 based on your video and found a good price on your site.. he's also very happy and got exactly what he expected. Your reviews are exhaustive but not unnecessarily long and just stick to exactly what the viewer needs to make an informed decision. This is the point where I would leave a critique of how you could improve going forward but you know what? Just keep doing exactly what you're doing. If I ever find myself in the market for a laptop for myself or family/friends, your review is the first thing I look for.
Thanks! That was a good model 👍
same, only bought legion 5
Don't lenovos still have the hinge issue? I have an E570 and it's just falling apart
@@JarrodsTechdo scar 16 pleease
My Lenovo Legion 5 Pro screen spoilt within a year.
Love my f15 with rtx4060 as it was similarly priced as the victus in Germany. The legion wasn't available yet. Unfortunately your videos are rarely valid regarding the prices and availability here in Europe. However the tests are really helpful and very well done. Love the channel 2 big thumbs up.
Jarrods reviews are really informative compared to other reviewers and that helps in make a better decision from a purchase point of view. Still waiting for the Predator Helios 16 review jarrod :-)
Cheers! Unfortunately Acer didn't want to send much over this year. I had to buy the Nitro 5, they sent the Helios Neo 16 instead of the Helios 16, and we didn't really want the Helios 18 either but they had it available so we just took everything we could actually get and did the best we could
The gaming market is quite overwhelming but I appreciate your deep research in all the videos, they have helped a lot in shortlisting my choices.
To think there were others than the 3 picked on the list. Thank you for confirming the best choices Jarrod! ❤️
Thanks for comprehensive yet pretty short overview
Bought the HP Victus 15 with the RTX 3050 6gb for $550 on black Friday sale at Best Buy. Perfect for what I need! Love your channel, thank you for the great, consistent content!
does it play cod ok and valorant type games?
@@b__w_4565 valorant yes but New cod it kinda struggles
Out of millions of reviewers, your review is direct without any gimmick and only focus on the necessities. Best reviewer Jarrod hands down 11/10
Thanks to your reviews on the HP Victus 16 i bought one two weeks ago... i wanted something that was powerful but it would also save me some money on the overal build quality of the laptop.... so i ended up with an AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS (780M Integrated) and a RTX 4070 with a 144 hz screen for about 1400 euros! i'm so happy with my purchase so far!
How's the battery drainage when gaming? And heating?
Great video. Also love the Insomnium shirt, I have the hoodie version of that one 🤘
Such a nice video, Hopefully you make one about the mid range and high end models too since black Friday is about to come
I got myself the HP Victus 16 with slightly higher specs (I7-13700H, RTX4060, 16Gb DDR5, 1TB) for 1599.99 CAD (1169.50 USD) and I must say that i'm really, really happy with it. It's probably my first ever laptop that doesn't even come close to overheating issues. I watched Jarrod's video about the Victus 16 before buying it and it was very useful! I definetly recommend this laptop! 👌
Which website did you order it off? I’m also in Canada
I didn't order it online I got it directly from Best Buy in Quebec City, I bought it a few weeks ago there was a 300$ discount on it and I think it is still on sale at the exact same price for the Black Friday :) @@user-yq3kb8ku7r
I been watching Jarrod's videos for a while and it is very useful to be able to decide which equipment is best for you given the large number of options you have in the market. That's how I opted for a MSI Pulse 15 (with i7 13gen | RTX4060) for $1150 and I've been using it for a little over a month, I really love the way it works and the performance, for me without a doubt a good choice 👍
Good to hear, unfortunately we weren't able to get that model to review this year!
great video, appreciate the advice went with the LOQ 15 and bought it via the gaming laptop deals site as im an aussie and was a no brainer. thanks heaps for the help!
I tend to avoid budget gaming laptops since I need them for work, and budget gaming laptops tend to have a very gamer aesthetic and have really poor battery life. But it is still interesting to see how much power you can get at 1/2 or even 2/3 the price of a standard gaming laptop nowadays.
i did a review of the LOQ like Captain Jarrod here. Its budget in price but TBH it is still quite nice. Battery life is solid
Other options if you are USA/Canada based are the legion 5 slim (14" or 16") as well as the Slim 7 amd (which just saw a big price cut). Ive reviewed all these and like them all
The processors in them draw more power, hence the poor battery life. You would want to look for the CPU models that are low power.
loq 15 abt 6 hours for youtube and stuff and 30 mins of charging for 50%
I would be interested in a comparison of fan noise. If a lower-powered GPU is 20% less in performance but substantially quieter, it could be a good deal.
I just purchased an ASUS TUF A16 from best buy for $749.99. As you mentioned at the end, picking based on power to performance alone is not for everyone. This laptop is smaller than the competitors, has a 16:10 display that is color accurate, a longer battery life, 100w USB charging, a numpad, low noise, 16GB of RAM, and nice chassis. The drawbacks are the 720p webcam, cooling system for gaming (manual profile fixes this), no touchscreen, and lack of NVIDIA 4000 features (not a big deal at this resolution IMO). The use case is 99% school for someone who was using a budget computer with a Ryzen 2500u and 8 GB RAM, to be able to play game with me without it looking like a slideshow. As it was a present, quality feel and look were important. The 16:9 screens and plastic chassis look like they waste space and give a budget feel. It was important to take them to Best Buy and see what they liked. Your reviews helped greatly, thanks.
Nice! Yeah I mention in the video $800 was the lowest for it, but I made this a week or two ago, we have it for $750 on the deals site now which is definitely more competitive :)
These just went off sale, I am hoping they go back on sale and I will jump straight onto it
Is it loud
@@CompSomAnichi i have had mine since Saturday, and it can rev up a bit when playing high intensive games, but i could not notice it when wearing headphones (i was playing with max fan settings.) The keyboard stays pretty cool even when running the most intense programs. I tested multiple triple a games with this thing and was getting around 100 fps in most single player experiences, but expect non triple a games to easily reach the 165 fps V-Sync enabled. I would 100% recommend it at the $750 price tag i got mine for this weekend.
@@CompSomAnichi It's not loud, it has been significantly quieter than my Gigabyte Aorus 15 laptop playing the same games with a frame cap, with a lower pitch noise which is nice. Reviews show it being quieter than most. I would consider replacing my more expensive Aorus 15 (i7-12700H and 3070ti) gaming laptop with it.
In the market for a business / gaming laptop. Your videos have help a ton. Thank you.
Good reviews man 🤝🔥very helpful information
I got the ASUS version of the Victus open box for $460, and I upgraded the memory to 32GB for $70, and paid $130 for a 2TB Samsung 990. I really enjoy it. It's a good mid range computer if you catch it on sale, which I suspect it will be for Black Friday.
Is it easy to upgrade ?
I had picked up the a16 ASUS for right about 700 bucks open box. No damage, nothing wrong with it, and it was normally 750 for their Black Friday deal. Use the savings that I got and bought 32 gigs, I think it's probably the best deal I could have had considering it went back up to $1,000
hows it ? ive heard that there are problems with the software , black screens and stuff
@@maanas126 Ive had some weird issues here and there, nothing a restart couldnt fix. Sometimes if the laptop has been on for a while, games run pretty slow, but after restart, its fine. Sleep modes are garbage, requiring a force restart. So I generally turn it off when not in use to be honest.
Most of the issues I have are software related, just not sure exactly what is causing them, but the hardware is fine. Performs better and quieter than the Dell G7 7700 (10750h, 2070M) that I am likely gonna sell soon
Nice video. Straight to the point.
Helpful. Thank you, liked and subbed.
Another option for Canadian and American buyers is the Legion 7 Slim AMD. It has seen a huge price reduction. its semi-budget coming in at $900-1000 USD. but still a decent option.
but as you suggest, the LOQ and HP Victus are both great true budget offerings. I was a fan of both
Id go Legion Pro over the Slim for better thermals. Never understand the desire to go .25" thinner. Literally is meaningless.
@@srobeck77 the legion slim is a much more premium laptop. Significantly so
For me personally I ended up getting the Gigabyte G5 KF 4060 variant as there was a sale not to long ago and I ended up getting it for about $1200 bucks vs the $1600-$1900+ for the other laptops with 4050s. It would of been nice to maybe have other models as they are of higher quality overall but the the price increase for me at least here in Australia wasn't worth it.
I've since done quite a bit of configuration with fan curves, voltages for the cpu and gpu and made some adjustments to the way the screen displays colors and its overall made a huge difference to the usability of the laptop. Out of the box its not the best and if I can do it I wish gigabyte did. It also would of been nice if they didn't handicap the GPU watt wise. The CPU is always the thing that runs way hotter where as the GPU just doesn't. I don't think I've seen it past 75c ever.
This video came exactly at the moment i was trying to choose between the TUF and the LOQ- and i was leaning towards the TUF… Thanks for the save !
Great review, Jarrod. Also, I've replied to you to that commend made over 3 weeks ago
@JarrodsTech I purchased the Gigabyte G5 from Best Buy for 799 which is cheaper as stated in your video (Black Friday Deal). However, the G5 I purchased comes with the i7 12650H which is higher than the i5 in your tests AND 16 gb of DDR5 4800 ram (also an upgrade over your test model). Based on the lower price and these upgrades, would the G5 make the list of the top 3 or is it still a bust? I was also strongly considering the Asus TUF A16 Ryzen 7 7735HS with RX7600S. Should I return the G5 and get the A16?
Also considering this! These laptops rarely go on sale outside the US, in our country the LOQ 4050 6gb costs the same as the G5 4060 8gb.. I'm considering the G5 because as Jarrod stated, having more VRAM is better for future games.
That point alone made it contradict why he's saying to avoid the G5 laptop.
Unfortunately Lenovo is overpriced here in the Philippines and Acer Nitro and Helios Neo are priced nicely. The newer HP Victus laptops aren't sold here nor the last year's models aren't good either. Funnily enough ASUS Tuf series are "affordable" here but ASUS has insane customer support service in the Philippines so that's why many people here want ASUS. Dell's G15/G16 are overpriced while thankfully people aren't falling Gigabyte's 4060 laptop. MSI's GF63 is quite a seller here, even if the hinge problem is known people just want to have a gaming laptop especially it's the cheapest rtx 4050 available.
that's exactly what I thought this morning, I woke up with the thought of looking for a budget Gaming laptop, I didn't find it, but now that I've watched this video, maybe I'll think again
Thanks for this video appreciate it!!!
recently bought asus tuf f15 w/ rtx 3050 and 12th gen core i5 for PhP 56,995 which is about $1000, overall performance is great and especially the build quality of it. Gaming laptops or electronic device here in PH is quite pricy and most of the good ones are over or near PhP 100k and its quite scary to buy here online due to some logistics and scammers lurking. This is s a huge upgrade for me coming from core i5 8th gen U series and gtx 1050 laptop.
True. That's why Lenovo's LOQ aren't considered budget gaming laptops here and they're more expensive than Acer's Nitro and Helios Neo series.
In my region hp victus 16 with 4060 (115w), Ryzen 5 7640 and 16gb of DDR5 costs LESS than both Acer and Lenovo models with 4050 on board. At which point it is a no-brainer. So pricing really REALLY depends on the region. 😮
So check the prices where you live
I knew the LOQ would be on the list! I plan on buying it soon!
Thanks for this review. I'll be using a gaming laptop for video editing and running multiple apps at once (OBS, et al) . I've just purchased an Asus A17 (Ryzen 5) and it's not performing very well. Can you tell me which of these you'd recommend for video editing? Is the LOQ still best? I prefer a 17" if possible. Thank you!
Got a acer neo 16 for 800 with i5 and 4050 on sale at best buy, and overall Im very happy with it. will pull off almost everything very well, recording AND playing on QHD display(external monitor) is very easy on it aswell - same for adobe video editing. Fans can get very loud up to a whooping 6k rpm but perfomance/turbo mode overclocks gpu by like 100-200 mhz, the fans can and will keep the gpu and cpu temps at
Same
I am confused between Loq 7840hs 4050 and i5 Neo 16 4050 please help😅
Best midrange plus futureproof plus price per performance IMO, is Acer nitro 16, you can get 4060 with 8gb vram and ryzen processors, build is good, slight gamer aesthetic rgb etc.
If you want the inbetween a premium and budget, go for Acer predator Helios Neo 16, Build quality is awesome, liquid metal, very cool cpu gpu temps, very premium look.
Loving this year Legion Pro 7i 🔥
Thanks to your channel I got a Legion 5 Pro with RTX 4070, Ryzen 7 7745HX for $1200.
$700-800 laptops are tough because a lot of times they only come with 8 GB of system RAM and a 512 GB SSD, which let’s face it, just aren’t enough for modern gaming. So then you have to spend extra to upgrade those when for not much more on top of that you can buy something with those options out of the box with most times a better CPU and/or GPU. For example, right now you can get a Victus with an Intel HX CPU, 4060, and 32 GB of RAM from Costco for $1000.
I just bought this laptop from best buy on black friday sale for $800

Asus tuf a15 - ryzen 9 7940hs with rtx 4060 fhd screen at 1185 USD i think it was a good deal.
Wanted a 1080p screen with good color accuracy and it didn't disappoint .
I was afraid the screen would be dim but i'm pleasantly surprised for the brightness as well.
Universal x86 Tuning Utility really helped me tweak it, now the temps and overall performance is way better
Thanks for the review Jarrod btw😊 !
I bought one too (also we live in the same country it seems :)). What panel model do you have in your TUF? Mine seems to have a green-yellow tint.
@@AP-xl4vz hello, it's the 1080p 100% sRGB one . Got a great deal last week. Can't say i have the yellow tint at all.. Have you installed the official display drivers from AMD and nVIDIA also the chipset drivers from AMD.
In the meantime i uninstalled the Armory crate from ASUS and been using the G-helper app for everything ( replaced Universal x86 Tuning Utility as well )
@@alexpascu1985 I bought it from Flanco at the end of last month for 5100 RON (same specs as yours and with 8GB RAM, 512 GB SSD). According to HWInfo my panel is AU Optronics B156HAN15.H but i've seen another 144Hz panel model in reviews for the same Asus TUF A15, so I was wondering which one is yours. Manufacturers use panels from different producers interchangeably.
GREAT VIDEO BRO IT HELPS ALOT
Nice video, thanks. I'd be interested in seeing the Radeon/Intel conterparts
After watching so many videos about gaming laptops, I built my own desktop😢
I have been using Loq i5 12th gen rtx 4060 variant.
Pros -
Display
Usually displays are shit in this bracket but this is exceptional, bright and colors are great compared to my company lap (HP probook)
Battery(normally) compared to other competitors - i got around 5hr backup with youtube, netflix and google on 80 percent brightness without backlit keyboard lights .
Hardware, - overall its made of plastic but the finish is amazing, blue finish at the fans is a chefs kiss. Looks amazig ( its like ideapad and legion had a baby)
Performance on gpu front.
I played FH5 amd gta 5 at extreme settings, I use a monitor( which runs at 75hz) boi forza on extreme graphics is something else... I am extremely satisfied with the performance tbh. The fans are great, thermals are well under control ( i use a fan coolled base that also has an impact)
Cons - this is made like a brick and weighs like a brick too including the charger its a bit heavy. But good for workout 😅
Performance on battery mode(battery save mode) is stupidly trash like its a laggy mess, scrolls are gittery once u move to performance mode the disparitybis vissible. Wish they had M1 level of cpu on battery mode.
Speakers are utter garbage my phone soumds better than this.
what fan cooled base do you use?
How does it sound with headphones? And how is the performance without battery save mode? And how much battery backup do you get without battery save mode and not gaming?
@@blackknight6757 interestingly headphone output is amazing (much better than phone with dolby atmos output) and u have a software in this forgot the name u can fime tune the output based on ur liking..

By budget I thought they meant dirt poor. I guess I’m never going to play fallout 3 without my laptop exploding…….😢😭
would you consider the LOQ with the 4060 over the 4050 for 200 more? or are there better things you would suggest at the 1000-1100 range? Thanks for the video, very detailed as always!
Acer helious neo 16
13700hx
Rtx 4060
1100 price very good
4060 significantly faster GPU, if you can add 200$ pls do it 😎 Games will be smoother and it will last longer as gaming device
I mean if you can get the lenovo legion slim 5 ryzen 7 4060 one at 1100 ish dollars, its a much better chassis. Other than that, there is very little competition to lenovo.
Got the Nitro 5 a while ago after watching Jarrod's 2022 review of it and I love mine - 12700H with a 3070 and 32GB of DDR4. One of the big selling points of the Nitro 5 that makes it really attractive to me and potentially others is that despite being a laptop, it has a LOT of storage options. Mine came with a PCIE Gen4 1TB boot drive, but there was a second M.2 slot free AND a 2.5-inch bay as well, which is rare to see these days on laptops. This allows you to add another M.2 drive and then also either a SATA SSD or even a high-capacity SATA 2.5-inch HDD if needed.
I ended up getting two more 2TB drives on sale and now happily have my entire Steam library and a few dozen movies and shows across my 5TB of storage on the go.
You know what else is best! That Thumbnail tho 😁
I'm proud that you mentioned the worst Thin/Gigabyte laptops. I'd also add Cyborg here.
Complete rubbish laptops that appear very often on promotions and we all know very well - for good reason.
I think you should also consider battery and power efficiency when it comes to gaming laptops. Most people buy gaming laptops to use them in college or school.
Gaming laptops are objectively better than work laptops when it comes to value. That’s if you are asking why people buy “gaming laptops” if they are gonna use it for school.
I wish there was a laptop with only a 7000 series AMD cpu with a powerful iGPU as its graphics. That’s probably the best way to be a laptop in terms of being used for gaming and work while also being cheap. It has great power efficiency. Discrete graphics tend to consume battery even when they aren’t being used in laptops with two gpus.
You mean a Ryzen 7000 with Radeon 780M? There’s more than a few models with the 7840U, but it’s not featured here since they tend to be pricier business laptops, and the “dGPU better” mentality runs when thinking of gaming laptops.
If you meant more powerful chips like the 7940HX3D or 7840HS, yeah those are rarely ever sold w/o a dGPU.
You could look into the Ryzen 9 7940hs zen 4 with rdna3 igpu. It does run a bit hot under high load but it can be tweaked for better thermals and performance
Right the time I wanted to buy a new laptop. Thanks, Jarrod !
Tysm! I am planning to get one soon and play Microsoft flight sim!😊😊😊 appreciate it very much
Got myself Asus tuf a16 and I'm happy witb it so far, especially in terms of the power efficiency. It seems to be very pocket friendly when u play games compared to other gaming laptops
Great reviews as always! I’m curious if you will review the new M3 laptops from MAC?
Hi Jarrod! Love your channel
Will you be reviewing the Omen 17 of 2023? Would love to see where it'd fit between other 4080 laptops
Will you do a tierlist like the last year with all the new models that came out this year?
hey @Jarrod'sTech I've been planning to buy a new gaming laptop for a while now. Are you going to do a video for best deals during black Friday that's my main purchasing time. Love the channel
Thankfully I listened to your recommendations and got the 7840hs loq with the 4050 at best buy. Bought it through the lenovo site with a small discount=$679. Added 32gb of ram for $100. $779 for very zippy set-up.
Thanks!
Got the Victus for around 500 with tax, really excited about it, thanks for the review
I already bought a gaming laptop last month, but I still watch this and I'm shock that it's the 1st best budget
I was looking for Asus tuf F15 but there's no model for 12th gen I5 so I decided to find another laptop and saw the ryzen 5 7540hs in the spec sheet and it's within the budget so I bought it
I'm glad I did because the AV1 encoding is so good
Damn those lernerver are a beast!
Bought a HP Victus a while ago after seeing it on your channel. Absolutely worth it. Cheers.
Yes loq is ultimate budget, if u get the 16 base model u get all the gsync and advanced Optimus, watching ur videos I bought the loq 16 with i7 and 4050
was looking for this video yesterday on your channel . LOL
Love my Asus A15 4060 with AMD cpu which I got on sale here in Sweden for roughly 1200 eur.
Yes, Sweden has really high tax so it is considered "low price".
What i love about this asus is that you can just install G-helper and uninstall armory and then turn this machine into a super silent laptop which can have longest battery time possible with no fans running at all.
I doubt that Lenovo Loq can do the same....
Getting a tuf f15 with 3050 16gb ram at $699 rn, life is good
thanxxxxx ❤❤❤❤
Will buy the LOQ 15. Amazing value for the money
I had a gaming laptop and it suddenly stopped working 😢 I finally have saved enough to get one! Thanks for the video!
I'm gonna buy one Next year November but already getting familiar with all budget laptops
This helped a lot and sweet shirt
Glad to hear it 🤘
had 3 lenovos so far build quality all are vry good
heelo jarrod, i love the way you making videos detailed than everyone and honest. i have a question in my mind that i think you can find the answer. does the 2023 model flow x13 with ryzen r7940hs cpu bottlenecks with 4090xg mobile at 4k gaming. you tested these kind setups for old model. and im curious for newer model. thanks for everything have a good day.
I'm still praying we get a review of the budget version of the m16 - the g16 🙏
(looks like it can be good a good daily driver, not just for gaming)
You should start including thermals in these recommendations, as it’s a viable criteria due to longevity and overall quality of life feel. I’ve had experience with a Dell G15 5511 with an 11400H and 3050 and it burnt itself, both the CPU and GPU after 6 months of use, with a cheap 20$ cooling pad.
I didn’t talk about that for the same reason I didn’t compare other stuff like fps. We didn’t have all these with the same specs for fair comparison
Literally was waiting for this😅
man tysm for this vid, i bout to buy a laptop
the legend we all need but never asked for. thank you
Nice video. Those Lenovo's are a fantastic deal.
I got the LOQ with the 4060. Really, really nice laptop considering it was just bellow 1k USD
Got the Asus TUF F15 with Intel I7, RTX 4050 and 16Gb Ram for 900€ pretty happy about it tbh
my LOQ 15 with the 4050 has exceeded all my expectations
How about the battery only use for browsing, CZcams not gaming? How much hour?
When do you plan on expanding the gaming laptop deals website to other regions? I'm in Canada and its hard to decide which budget laptop to get, since most of the reviews are US based.
I bought a Lenovo LOQ, couldn’t be happier
Any Reviews on the new Acer Nitro V with i5 13th and 4050?
Hi Jarrod! I am pretty much clueless when it comes to gaming laptops. I have $1,500 budget for a gaming laptop but with literally SO MANY options what would your opinion of preference would be in order to play Starfield and the Sims4 with all DLC? Looking to purchase within the month. Thank you 🙏
I bought the hp victus after watching this video, and the laptop did not disappoint. Thank you so much🙏

I have a gaming pc that over the years my little sister has taken over. Moving out soon so im thinking of a nice gaming laptop so that she can keep the pc
I'm very happy with my Victus 16, Ryzen 7 7840HS, RTX4060, DDR5 16GB and 512 GB for just the cost of 980ish USD (4,445 MYR), when I first bought it, I thought it didn't support backlit RGB but I was wrong. The 2023 version did support it and it really did excites me. Battery life is good using only 20% screen brightness I was able to maintain usage around 7 hour for just student's general use with no backlit light ofc
hey! I'm thinking on buying that exact laptop actually, with the same specs hahaha. Do you recommend it? For both gaming and school

Can you review the MSI Katana 15 with RTX 4070?
What do you think of the stuttering issue that many Ryzen laptop CPUs face because of the tfpm issue? Many suppliers still haven't fixed it.
I got the LOQ 15.6 and it was tragic. The first time I power it up, after 10 minutes, the display was showing horizontal white strips and after a troubleshooting I ended up concluding that the display was faulty. I was confused and sad and read a lot on reddit and lenovo forums that is a common issue on Lenovo Laptops.
I wish you looked into the Acer Nitro 16 (2023). It has current Gen processor and advanced optimus and gsync
