Impressive Yaoyao was readily available since the beginning (she was even featured in official artwork and some voicelines) yet she wasn't released because Dendro element wasn't ready at the time...
Same with Ayaka, she was finished by the time the trailer for the game released but they waited for ages

I think Kate was a remnant from when this game was supposed to be a honkai spinoff, hence the futuristic outfit. Originally you were supposed to play as a traveler from other world arriving in a spaceship, you can even see it in CBT1 intro where it clearly shown that traveler exiting some sort of a futuristic door, supposedly said spaceship. This stuff deserves it's own video, because the story and the game itself was supposed to be completely different during the development, writing team was changed several times along the way.
watched the cbt1 intro and even at one moment there were circles similiar to those from herrscher of the void, interesting that we meet her "expy" at the current beggining. gosh i wish there was more of itttttt😭
@@crushed_starto this day dataminers keep finding hidden and unused dialogs for different characters that have various purposes, their contains suggest that the story course was completely different at some point. Unfortunately, by the time of CBT1 they already made the decision to rework genshin into it's own independent thing, even though some remains were still left there. The new proposed story was also different from what we have now, writing team wanted it to be a bit dark yet interesting and non-generic (for example CBT1 story ends with mondstadt arc conclusion where Venti dies). Interestingly enough, they went somewhat far with it. The mondstadt arc (with a little bit of liyue arc) is still a perfect example of what they tried to achieve, the pacing of it's story is completely different from the rest of the game, you're introduced to the story and it's world, level up your AR to unlock more of it, and meet other characters of this region while doing so, experiencing story in a fast and organic matter, where main and side objectives are kinda stitched together. Unfortunately other than that, we don't know much about that second version of story, because after the initial 1.0 release and it's success mihoyo shifted their focus once again, this time they decided they want genshin to be a family friendly gacha so they asked to simplify a story and make it as linear and cliche as possible. This is the reason why Inazuma's story arc ended up short, unfinished and lackluster, mainly because the new writing team was brought in, and they had too little time to workout something. From what we know from leakers, originally by the time of us arriving at Inazuma it's archon was supposed to be dead, and it's story arc would involve about competition to become a new archon where Ayaka would win (this is the reason why she was one of the first designed characters, her role in the story was planned to be much bigger). We know all of that because of information from in-house testers who already played the build with almost finished early Inazuma from around CBT3 - 1.2 era, where it was made by a singular island. This is because initially mihoyo never expected genshin to end up this profitable so the scale of development plan was smaller but the releases were supposed to be faster, the old rumour about inazuma release in 1.4 wasn't really a rumour at all, they planned for new regions to be released not once per year like now, but once per 6 months, in interview before 1.0 mihoyo CEO said that they planned to finish the story in 5 years, since then after 1.0 success, all plans were reworked and rescaled, and now we have bigger regions that takes twice longer to release, and mihoyo have to intentionally stretch the releases of new regions to several versions because otherwise we would end up with majority of updates featuring just one new character, their personal quest and some QoL. Interestingly enough, the story being changed causes official travail trailer to be completely wrong about story, as Zhongli never signed a contract to end all contracts, there are no bakufu who rule eternity in Inazuma, the god of wisdom doesn't have wisdom itself as her enemy, god of justice doesn't judge other gods in Fountain, and probably more to come, because that trailer was made with previous story version in mind. There are also reasons to suggest that some story parts were changed again, mainly we have evidence for Fontain, there are lots of npc dialogs, in-game books, official concepts as well as couple of pre 4.0 events that picture Fontain as a region that suffers from energy crisis, ecology disasters (there are mentions of polluted air and water), society being divided by several inequal factions, yet in reality none of that appeared to be true. Considering that little to no stuff from before those story changes was anyhow altered, it's almost impossible to say for sure which lore bits and story hints makes sense and what doesn't.
To summarise, genshin nowadays is a weird Frankenstein-like mess full of wasted potential that suffers from mihoyos incompetence and mismanagement.

I feel like “adult male shape test” really puts into perspective how much extra effort was put into Wriothesley’s… assets.
I'm just happy to know that the body shape models didn't have any of the bits modeled in, since most models for a game or animation are completely nude as a base, with often the bits included.

The reason why there's an adventurer there because in CBT1, we can only change your team members when you visit a nation and meet with that NPC responsible for the party change, reminiscent of some old RPG games. It was changed in CBT2 where we can change team members everywhere. Imagine us having to stop on a city everytime we wanted to change members.

"Kate Kaslana" still kinda exists as a hidden background character shown in the Annapausis quest as a squirrel and through all of the Adventurer's Guild puppets being called Katheryne. In the Boar Princess book a squirrel gets eaten by a wolf, cursing the wolf. May or may not be linked to Dainsleif but we'll see.

its crazy how yaoyao and ayaka were planned so early on. i mean ayaka only had from 1.0-2.0 but yaoyao wasnt in the game for 2 whole years.
Even crazier is that having the model they could have had her be an npc we could interact with same as baizhu who also wasn't playable for 2 years due to lack of dendro but still present in world quests and stuff especially seeing as they used her in official art a good bit...

@@jelloeeeee I remembered reading somewhere (an official interview in a magazine with devs) that changing artifacts was akin to praying to the stars for blessings. That's why you can't change your artifacts in the middle of a fight (besides being a game mechanic).

Kate and her numerous glitchy models freak me out for some reason. Why is she always walking. Why was she never added and just relegated to a testing dummy
Because she's from a different stage in development where the game had an entirely different concept and vision. Kate was created for that vision (as she is the first character created for Genshin), but they decided to abandon it for the one we have now. Since they had the model made, no reason in trashing it when they can just use it for testing purposes

Beidou's skill is like ayaka's last normal attack or ayato's charged attack, the ayaka model burst was supposedly the beta skill (I think), 10:50 is just ayaka but lady_claymore with jean animations, 16:20 mc wind vortex is like the geo mc skill,
An electro vision on his back, a hydro bubble elemental burst, a pyro explosion in his skill, and still a cryo vision in his character menu. Razor was really exploring his elements huh

I like this, I feel like we are in the developer's perspective. As a programming student, I can absolutely look at the bugs, character templating with existing ones, experimenting with the options like Razor with a bow & Jean with a spear, placeholder models, the naming convention 😂, lack of skills, decent voice, no weird feelings about it, in fact this is relateable in some degree, I mean its part of the process from which the users does not see
