  • Would you like to strike your irons pure every time or at least learn how to hit a golf ball properly with an iron?
My latest student gained 28 yards with his 7 iron and actually hit the ball straighter.
He probably had many of the questions that you may have:
How do I hit a golf ball with an Iron? How can I learn to strike my irons pure every time? How to hit my irons straight? how to hit my driver straight?
    Sound familiar?
In this weeks golf instruction Im going to show you how in 3 simple steps we managed to help Richard add 28 yards laser straight yards to his 7 iron in just a 45 minute golf lesson.

    ABOUT DANNY
    -----------------------
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!
I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
On CZcams and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble
I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

If you are looking for how to hit a ball straight with an iron, or want to know how to hit the ball first with irons then these golf drills will give you much better golf ball contact so that you can strike your irons pure.
I believe they are the easiest and best golf irons drills you can use
Also get to see the golf ball contact in slow motion

Hi Danny, You are definitely the best coach i have seen on CZcams! I'm impressed by how you manage to feed simple drills to the hungry golf mass. I started last year with the game as a 50 year anniversary gift and i absolutely love it! I live in Norway and the first thing i had to do was a mandatory course of 2 days. But after that i played and trained as much as i could (often too much...) I get better and better, though i know i won't be a star. But i managed from 54 HC to a 32,5 now in 3 months last year. I am satisfied with that, and i have you and Rick Shiels to thank for that. Both of you are good coaches, but you tend to specify the fine techniques much better than Rick.

This “walking to the right” feeling is something I haven’t seen elsewhere (at least directly) before. It is super helpful. It seems like it really helped me think about the shift to the lead leg. When thinking of it always as being squarely aligned and shifting from back to front it’s given me too much trouble trying to not laterally move too much (slide). This stepping sensation is really good!
I’ve done “step drills” before too, but never with this concept of “walking to the right”. That’s really the key difference for me. I instantly noticed the pressure transfer in my feet being more like what I’ve been “trying to get”.
Thanks for the video. Another good one.

Honestly Danny, I think you are one of the best golf teachers on youtube. I love your enthusiasm and how passionate you are about helping people to improve their golf swing. But, at the same time, I like that you are realistic in that you make it clear that there is no instant cure for success but rather hard work, persistence and constant training- but at the same time to enjoy the game - this is vital imo
I would definitely come to have some lessons from you but I moved to live in Norway 17 years ago. There are not many golf courses here in Norway so I gave up playing. However, I decided to start up again about 3 months ago after recovering from a serious illness and was advised to take up a sport to help to get fit again. I went out to a local park to hit some balls and quickly realised I needed to go back to the very beginning. Following your advice has changed my entire approach to golf. For example, I now do as much "swing" training exercises as I do actually hitting the ball. Approaching golf in the way you treat it has dramatically altered my swing. I have a straighter ball flight and gained huge yardage which has boosted my confidence enormously. Im age 55 and I will be joining a local 9 hole club next week.

This video helped me solve my irons problems. I was not hitting anything well. I was too steep and trying to swing to the left thinking this was proper. I went out and hit my Gap and Pitching wedges. I was hitting darts near the pin instantly. I grouped 7 out of 10 balls in a tight dispersion. Suddenly my mind cleared and my motivation returned just by swinging to the right. The club head naturally squares itself and the ball jumps off the face and lofts accordingly and the balls stick where you put it. Of all the golf videos I watched, this one made the most sense to me. I can see my new found ball striking save 10 or more strokes per game. Game changer!

The instructional video, last week, helped immensely! Getting your legs in motion has made a huge difference in my iron play. Can actually hit a baby-draw that has eluded me for several years. This week is almost the next step in removing tension and adding fluidity to your swing. Can't wait to add the tips, in this video, and add a few yards to those irons. And, you are spot on, breaking an old habit and replacing it with a new one takes time. Enjoyed your videos at home, but nice to see that you're back at the club again. Cheers, Danny!

Loved the "marching forward" aspect of this video. I've made slow progress every week in our 9 hole golf league until I collapsed two weeks ago, tying my highest score ever. I spent last Monday evening with Danny Maude and took these suggestions on weight transfer to the driving range before my Wednesday league. First two swings were 7 irons right on the 150 yd marker. Zowie!
I went from 9 holes with a double bogey best in my disaster to 7 holes of pars and bogeys, one double bogey, and one blow up hole. Most improvement has been from 110 yards in with my wedges. Threw some darts on the greens; had three straight holes with reasonable birdie putts.
Danny has the best video series, great explanations and drills. I'll be sticking with him instead of paying local guys. My experience with local guys is that they are top players and mediocre teachers.

Great stuff Danny - this is exactly what I've been working on the last few weeks: remove tension from the arms and swing the clubhead back and forth. It automatically shallows the swing out for me and has given me added distance with driver and my irons. I think the hardest thing for me to realize/get is that the release of the clubhead ont he downswing isn't a flip or rolling over of the hands - it just happens naturally. Keep up the great content.

What I was told is as long as your sternum is over the ball on impact your swing is an individual thing. Really like/enjoy your methods and enthusiasm. After missing golf for 18 months due to reconstructive surgeries from a tennis foot injury. I am trying to return to previous form. Used to be a 12 handicap, currently 18. My focus/key words for every shot are... balance, tempo, contact. Distance is currently irrelevant, though when I swing with good balance and tempo and make solid contact I still maintain similar yardages as before (150-155 yd 7-iron, 175-180 yd 5-iron). So many of your videos feed directly into those thoughts and are helping me eliminate some bad habits and re-gain consistency and confidence. 👍

My game has been in a slow but regular decline over the last couple of years, particularly loosing distance, accuracy and too many bad shots when taking a full swing. I have a good technical awareness of what’s required for a good swing but with hindsight this has proved a handicap rather than an advantage in putting things right with too much focus on perfection resulting in a wooden swing and a focus on hitting the ball rather than swinging the club. I found your video a couple of days ago, practised in the yard, took it to the practice ground and yesterday to the course with amazing results. Some of the longest and most accurate shots I have hit for 2 years or so. Thanks - I walked off the course happier with my game thanI have been for some time. Thanks Again Peter

Another great drill Danny, I'm just doing it with no club in my kitchen and I can feel the difference. I think rather like your student, I too was putting the club into the back swing position. I feel really nice and loose on the down swing, and all I have to do is step down and snap my knee back and everything else seems to follow.
I was finding more a lack of accuracy as well as distance. I played last Thursday and I hit some nice shots, however they tended to be the second ball when I was more relaxed. I feel this drill may indeed be a game changer, and allow me to get that relaxed devil-may-care shot with my first ball!
    Thanks again Danny :-)

Just tried this in the garden after a long day shift and after the awkward initial first few steps my swing instantly felt like a proper swing. As I relaxed and started to revert back to a poor line I could see the sweeps in the grass and how much my path had changed. Can't wait to test it out on the range. More reps required to make it my default now. Thanks 👍👍

My golf mates usually comment after I've made a strike, to try and tell me where I went wrong! This must be the one where I'm told that I'm coming round myself as I'm never really sure what they mean but I will give this a try and see what happens. I usually improve after watching your videos but I forget most things by the next time I play! Thanks for the lesson.

Danny Danny Danny! aka the swing whisperer! I have recently landed at this same position you are teaching here! Swinging inside and out to the right! Instead of using golf balls as goal posts I visualize a tee out and front of the right of ball. But I like the idea of hitting through the goal posts. As it’s going now I’m getting more confidence and using this WITH course management to pick my line to hit WITH the course ( dog right/left) aka hit and avoid trouble and open up the window of my
landing spot. This is awesome! Thank you!

Bonjour Mr. Maude, from Quebec, always viewing your videos with great interest. Most of the time, too often, I cut the ball, appreciable distance but not straight. This video led me to be more fluid and loose (finally) and now my ball is straighter except that now I pull the ball, it is longer but often in trouble under the Canadian trees. I'm so happy discover that I can hit with less resistance.🏌🏻‍♀️😁Aurevoir

I’ve been reading Bill Bryson’s book ’The Body’. Great read by the way. A few paras are dedicated to the wrist and how it works. Applying this to the golf swing I now realise that it’s the forearms that control the clubface! Try this. Hold your right arm out in front of you with your right hand in this thumb up position 👍. Now take your left hand and grab your right forearm as tight as you can. Try now to turn your right-hand anti-clockwise. If you are holding your right forearm tight enough you won’t be able to turn your hand at all. The wrist has no independent rotational movement in it. Ergo it’s not the hands or wrists that brings the club head in square it has to be the forearms. So my swing thought - try to return my left forearm to the ball exactly as it was at address. I try to avoid at all cost any clockwise rotation of the left forearm on the backswing/takeaway. It means I no longer require any overdone opposite rotation on the journey back to impact. If you can't control your forearms, you cant control the face! Of course, now I’ve told you this it will no longer work for me!!!!

    • @DanielMaude
      @DanielMaude  Před 4 lety

Thats really interested David, you got me trying it. What's key is you don't allow the right elbow to rotate with the forearm which is possible. Love this thanks for sharing

Hey Danny I just want to say thank you! I have tried many practice drills to correct my over the top swing. I would hit a high towering shot but pull it perfectly straight 5 to 10 yards off target and find myself stepping out of my shot on follow through! I did 5 practice swings with your set up didn't pull a single shot no stepping out and had my first mild draw with 8 iron! Also used the drill with my driver and had good results. Definitely subscribed to your channel! Thank you Heath

Love the gate drill. Have used it similarly for the putter. I tend to push/fade the long ball especially when I try to crank one out there. Will use this practical drill to refocus the long clubs (driver/woods/hybrids/long irons) to get better shot placement. Thanks again Danny for practical advice for playing more consistent, fun golf!
