Good review. I think the clip has it's pluses and minuses. You pointed out the negatives, but it allows the light to be carried in "deep carry" mode, so that the entire light sits below the line of your pocket. I have found that flashlights can attacked more attention than an EDC knife sometimes. Some people think you are paranoid for carrying a flashlight in the middle of the day, as crazy as that seem to you and I. While it's not pretty, I like the clip. May end up buying this light thanks to your strong review. Thanks!
Just stumbled on this one again and wanted to comment that I now have three of these with the new clip, one AA body (used with a 14505) and a pair of 1 x CR123a bodies. The new clip is vastly better; even though I don't tailstand it I do like how it rides in my pocket. Deep enough to be stable, high enough to retrieve the light easily. I have finally sold off the multi-mode ones. Just don't like 'em. If it had a hi/low ring like the MD2 it would be absolutely perfect. Short of that I will take the single output version.
I really like deep carry clips, that's a big draw for me. I can't imagine much use for tailstanding a light to begin with. Personally I wouldn't have a multimode like that didn't come on in HIGH mode. But for EDC I can see why some would prefer the opposite. You can get a version of the light that does come on in LOW but if you don't like the clip I don't imagine there's much point. Still, thanks for the video. There aren't many vids at YT on Malkoff turnkey lights.
shortly after watching your video on this light,i went ahead and grabbed a new one off the malkoff sight, just a grate light for my bedroom/EDC walks at night, thanks for turning me on to malkoff.

Out of curiosity have you tried the new ones? The new clip design addresses all of those complaints and will tailstand.
I probably should get one and see how it is. The light itself was awesome. The clip was wretched.

I tend to giveaway the vast majority of gear I review for two charity drives I do each year.
