I took lessons from Mr Fielder in 1975. He started me on the Simandl technique, applied to a Fender. Knowledge of this led me to the upright bass, and on to Orchestral playing. In addition, he made me aware of the ergonomics involved with the electric bass. I put a strap pin on the lower but of my instrument, as he described in this video. What was not mentioned was how he holds the bass while seated. He sits on the strap and holds the bass with his inner thighs. This technique takes all the stress off the back, while playing. 47 years later, my back thanks Jim for turning me on to these techniques.
BTW, is that Jim playing on Buffalo Springfield`s "Everydays"?

Good interview. Thank you. He was a big influence on me as a young bass player.
