- interview with bass player Jim Fielder - played bass for Blood, Sweat and Tears, The mothers of invention, Buffalo Springfield and more - part of the Asheville Guitar Bar featured artist series
Fielder and Jamerson were definitely my early inspirations as well, when I started my bass journey in 1971. Since then, I can honestly say that there have been many more inspirational bassists for me, but it all started for me, with JIm Fielder and James Jamerson. And a big shout out to HeathKit bass amps (kits), as I had one of those when I first started! Love hearing Jim talk about his bass journey! There'll never be another time like those early days! Thanks Jim!
I am a bass player and played professionally from 1966 to 1972. Jim Fielder and James Jamerson were my inspiration. Jamerson received the recognition; Fielder did not. Jim was every bit as funky as Jamerson, but had those jazz chops too. Thank you Jim Fielder.
My favorite of all time, absolutely no question. Thank you Mr. Jim Fielder!
