DF Adventure Race 2023

On Wednesday this week, teams of two from the Defence Forces took on the Defence Forces Adventure Race!
The course took the racers from the Nagles Mountains, along the River Blackwater, through Fermoy, Kilworth, and Glensheskin forest to the finish line in Kilworth Camp
The race started with a trail run through the Nagles mountains working their way north to the river Blackwater, where they picked up their kayaks at Ballyhooley and kayaked 9km to Fermoy rowing club.
Racers collected their bikes here and covered a further 25-35km (depending on route selection) collecting bonus orienteering points around in Glensheskin forest before finishing in 1 BTI HQ.
Winners on the day were:
1st Mixed Comdts Maeve O’Grady and Eoghan Carton.
2nd Mixed Cpl Niamh Morrissy and Sgt Conor Fenton
1st male Cpl Lee Boyd and Pte Eamon Kelly
2nd Male Comdt David McKnight and CQMS Ollie Mahon
1st Masters Comdt Tim O’Connor and Capt Diarmuid Barry
