What is your favorite movie scene that includes a Bow/Arrows/Quivers/whatever?
Mine is hands down Boromir's death in Lord of the Rings, epic redemption of a man who lost his way but came back to the light, and tried his best to make things right.
Legolas stabbing the Uruk-hai with an arrow before firing it at another enemy was always my favourite archery scene
Give me a classic Robin Hood. Errol Flynn inspired my love of things arrow and sword (even though Basil Rathbone was the real swordsman in Hollywood at the time).
First thing popped in my head was William Wallace mooning the opposition and yelling freedom
Agreed is was so well writed scene
If I was a cow, I would like to be a Dark Horse build.
You are correct to water the entire piece. If you don't you risk leaving large water spots in the areas you do get wet. It can also affect the pore consistency which will change the way the leather takes dye (learned all this from my mentor when I was working for Tandy Leather).
From what ive seen of you, your leather work is amazing
Great job. Love your work.
Awesome build!
absolutely love that texture stamp! i use it on my dragon armor pieces for scales. It's awesome!
One of my favorites so far
Very cool, I'm a big fan with how it turned out! 👍
I've been waiting for this one!!
Gorgeous piece :D 💜
This work has something magical about it! 👍
The "extra" is what makes your work so awesome.
Thanks! This is a really cool build 😍
Beautiful
I agree that stitching the area around the opening looks great. I often do that just because I like how it looks, it's gives projects a little more of a finished look. I love the Viking style of your work, thanks for showing your awesome work.
Amazing like always a great inspiration
This was a great video! Been watching your stuff for a while, and really enjoying it. Thanks!
amazing!!!
I love me some Chicago screws. Especially on my belts, I like being able to change out the buckles
Yes! Yes!! 100 times yes!!! I have been hoping you would do a quiver some day ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I am going to be trying this to see if it will be compatible with Mounted Archery! Thank you!!
I've been meaning to make a new quiver for my larp archery setup to use after COVID. I might have to get this pattern to modify for that.
PI never thought of using brass rivets?
Definitely very cool!
👍👍👍👍
Thanks. Just finished this pattern!
Send pictures! Info@darkhorseworkshop.com
Thank you. Its beautiful work
Appreciate it.
Good job Magnus!
Never watch a video of yours and walk away disappointed. Always good , cool, projects that turn out really nice! Every time I watch one of your videos it makes me want to start another project! Today I finished a cross draw, flap holster for a (Pietta) 1860 .44 pistol. I've already cut out most of the pattern for my next project. I wish leather wasn't so expensive! oh well.
I like other POV's in leatherwork.
From my days with Homebrew tailoring costumes. Double sided tape helps with paper patterns for the underside of the main body to stay if you are like me a get a little excited with moving the project around when cutting the pattern. Awesome quiver!
Love it, a really fun build.
One tip is to use a candle on the paper / maskingtape over the holes before you punch them, it will make the tool-removal more easy.
Absolutely gorgeous! Love these videos :)
One tip I have is beware of cutting through paper and tape with leather tools a lot. It dulls them pretty quickly, and you may need to strop and sharpen them more frequently. Least this is the issue I've had before.
Pretty confident that the back and forth stitching you showed is a saddle stitch. At least thats what every saddle stitch video i've watched shows
I've always been told a saddle stitch locks in the middle like the start of tieing your shoes. Never really dug into it beyond that, I could be wrong.
Muito bonito cara o seu bordado em couro!
I'd love to see you do the Hedeby quiver, that'd be awesome
Dude u have very great skills in what u do
Love your work and videos, i was wondering when id get to see a new video
Love youre vids.
Learned at least 3 tips from this video alone and I've studied leathercraft in a school for freaking forever! 😳
Awesome
This is really going to help when I make Links quiver from Breath of the Wild. Thank you!
Love all your videos, but the quality of the last few has noticeably increased. Great job and amazing pattern!
My god man have you been punching your way through hordes of enemies ?? :) Great quiver mine is a back quiver from a goat my first tanning and crafting.
Veramente meravigliosa.
That's absolutely insane! Absolutely Beautiful! Very nice work 👏
Would love to have one, but I'm afraid that it would cost to much ( I understand that handmade don't come cheap, as it shouldn't) keep up the good work, always nice to see a professional in work. (Sorry for my bad English)
Regards from Sweden 🇸🇪
I love that you strop your oolfa knife. I never liked the idea of disposable blades.
I started doing the same after spending a few days working for Magnus. It appealed to my scottish frugality
@@mcewenhandcraft what compound is best? I"m barely making my first strop.
@@garyledford2901 magnus uses the white Jewelers Rouge.
But I prefer the extra fine green polishing compound you can get from Metal Supply places.
(Tandy also has little tubes of it as well)
Yes you need to dye, antique, oil and whatever before you burnish. Reason being is burnishing flattens and smushes those leather fibers and locks them in.
Any chance you'll be making a back quiver in the future? Always found in the past that hip quivers get in the way when doing field archery
FYI, you probably don’t need red threadlock, blue should work fine (packaging is deceptive) but the red stuff is super crazy strong and needs a bunch of heat to come apart, may as well use blue and you’ll still be able to take it back apart later
My idea was that I never want to take it apart, but good point, shit happens and sometimes you need to.
Love your designs. Any chance you have a pattern for a sword frog that would work for a SCA rattan sword? I would be very interested.
I'd use am o-ring mounted to a regular frog off the top of my head. But haven't done one myself no
Sir, can you please tell me how hard you hit your beveler and other carving tools? I obviously, am hitting them to hard & it makes everything look like crap. I love all of your creations. Thank you.
Hey Magnus, love your content! Was just wondering, what material the top of your work table is made of? It looks like a dense white plastic? Thanks
1/2" 4ft x 8ft cutting board material
Dude, I know I've said this before I am so jealous of your table!
It's even better now since I stained it to match my other benches.
@@DarkHorseWorkshop what did you stain it with?
Craftsmanship of the masters. When I put on ma leather I made, and rock to sum Metallica, Delta Parole, Foo Fighters or the Smashing Pumpkins I feel like I can do anything in the whole wide world.
Don't sharpen a ceramic blade? I strop mine a lot during swivel knife carving. It helps a lot in making it glide through the leather a lot better. This quiver is beautiful, definitely have it on my list for future projects. I'll probably change the general shape and tooling part a bit, make it more my own :)
how to measure the bottom panel of the quiver? manually
Keren 👍
really love your work and have attempted to use your techniques in my own work. you mentioned Vancouver ...are you in the Lower Mainland? Ive been at this for three years now and it would be great to connect with you. is your shop open to the public?
Hey, can you make a Backpacke?
So, I've got 2 questions for you.
1) Is there a green dye you know of that lasts a good while without fading?(my instructor/boss/master has rotten luck with blue and green, for whatever reason)
And 2) Do you have any advice, or resources to point me to to help me learn to draw my own viking knotwork?
leather video? Moo. Just Moo. Moovelous even.
Do you have full head cowl pattern
Can you make a full mitten gauntlet.
Eventually.
Can you cut it on the Falcon 2 ?
Too big sadly.
Magnus, I'm not sure where to contact you. But if I were to buy a standard sheath for my Helle knife, could I send you the standard one and you use it as a pattern to make one with some of your amazing carving? 🤔
Do you cut on the outside or inside line of the templates?
I just cut along the line, I've never thought that hard about it... good thing to keep in mind though for sure.
Hi, how much leather is needed? Is this 22" long?
How can I buy one of your quivers, Please
Hello, where can I get these half-round rivets that you use for your work. mfg Frank
Rivetsonline.com I think is where you can find them
hello, can you send me PDF pattern for this arrow holder please ? thank you so much 😊
It's on my website... www.darkhorseworkshop.com
What would you say is the cheapest alternative material than leather?
Vinyl?
I'd like to make this for someone I know and I have couple of questions - you say the pattern is sized to you, what does that equal? and is this for someone who is right-handed or is it either had ?
It's reversable. Just the strapping might need to be tweaked for the angle people want it to sit at. The overall size oft he body of the quiver is fine.
@@DarkHorseWorkshop thank you. Love your channel.
I got some leather tools today
Awesome.
So i dont know if you do request, however i would really enjoy a video on the process of you making the templates for your projects.
how much leather would you say is needed to make a quiver?
A chunk about 24" x 24" plus whatever you need for the little straps etc.
How much do you charge for one of those quiver bags?
I don't build things for regular sale. I have one of these available on my website, darkhorseworkshop.com
Супер!!!! А как у вас заказать ????
Imagine being that one person that disliked
if your wondering how to put it on heavier paper from Cosco they trow out the paper what between the pallet it heavy cardboard I ask if they have some they are will to some there waste toward us anyways when they ask if you what a box lol silly store NO you kept your boxes
I tried to read this twice. What exactly were you saying?
@@markgoostree6334 look for a larger piece of cardboard pallets at Costco has cardboard between the food they are very happy to give their waste cardboard to you
at the time being, i don't stop there they wouldn't support the local farms around the area they are in they could go back over the border and still in the ass hole dictatorship country they came from asshole America
Is this pattern on your Etsy?
Yes, and my Shopify. I'd get it off my Shopify since if I update it you get notified your choice though
@@DarkHorseWorkshop ok
nom archery
i new you were cool ? as soon as you mentioned archery it cemented the fact ? cheers for the you tubing it helps us lesser beings of planet earth ? [lol] watched a helm being made the other day and you were in the background of the workshop [half asleep ] must be taxing banging rivets ? i'm over 50 [hard to remember these days] but passing the word = supplements amino acids whatever it takes when you hit our patina your body is less likely to absorb nutrients as we used to ? i'm not your mum but dude it helps so much + creatine glutamine l-leucine ? one mix of all this with a bodybuilding protein shake makes you feel young again and function mentally clearer and absolutely love your work i'm just getting into armour n stuff though have watched your channel for years and it's cool ? all the best
you need to give that pattern free of charge
Why would I do that?
I'd really, REALLY like to know how much that would cost if it held 7 🏹 s nice and snug?? Yes, I'm serious!...🤔
I really like the Woodglut plans.
How do you make a leather quiver?
Scare the shit out of the animal wearing it.
