What do you want to see next? Let's hear your ideas! Also thanks for watching, this past week has been really inspiring with lots of views and comments, so keep motivating me. Thanks. :)
Do you usually stick to small items? I was thinking about possibly making a messenger bag for my husband. I've made a few bags and have incorporated art work but this will be my biggest project to date I'm pretty pumped!
Love your work!
@@aleciabarrera9051 Quite honestly that might be the video next Tuesday. Not sure what size it will be, it may be just an ipad style smaller bag. But anything can be scaled up fairly well.
How about a Scottish Sporran? using both Leather and fur?
Have you ever considered giving turn shoes a try? I think they're pretty fun to make and you have the post-apocalyptic life skill of making your own shoes 😁
A fur hat would be nice to learn. Enjoyed this vid, the carving intrigues me. Ideas are flowing....
Awesome looking pouch😍
You make leather work seem so easy. Love your videos.
Great video! I really appreciated the close ups while you were cutting and beveling! I'm such a visual learner and those close ups help me so much.
Great tutorial - beautiful pouch
Hands down the best videos on leatherwork on youtube! Additionally, great production, editing and narration.
This bag is a beautiful work of art!
I made it! Came out beautifully
That pouch is gorgeous
Thanks! Glad you like it. :)
I really appreciate your videos. You really inspire me to do my own style art. Many many thanks.
I'm going to make this and use it as my flintlock hunting bag
Nice job. Great looking pouch.
I never thought of turning a gusset inside out like that! A whole new look.
very well done! greetings from Greece!
Nice work!
Yeah great work. I love it and I saved this and other of your videos as tutorials for later use. Your work is really awesome!
Love the artwork!
What beauuuuutiful work! Impressing and inspiring.
Lots of love from Sweden
Love this!!!
the close ups are sooo nice, great video, amazing pouch, seriously.
Wow my dude! Looks like some skyrim type stuff. Exactly the type thing I'd like to start making. Thanks for the inspiration and keep it up.
Wonderful
Glad YOU have some artwork! I can WRITE fiction and historical fiction but, I can't draw, worth a damn!
GREAT videos on your channel! I love doing leather work as I find it relaxing but, back to the artwork, THAT kills me! Thanks, again for having GREAT VIKING ARTWORK!
Kudos!
I like you pouches, I’m going to be a woodland Elf and want a light color. I will put a sunflower on it!
Looks wonderful :D if I can stop being poor ther are definitely a few patterns you made I'd love to try :) this would be a great Ren Faire pouch
Excelente!
this may be one of your best videos to date
Thanks. I have to agree honestly. I really tried to bring together all my improving skills.
Awesome 👍
Super !
Cool man, I’ve learned a lot from you.
Awesome. Thanks for inspiring me to get into leather work. How about a Viking sword sheath? Or a leather vest? Love it all, keep it coming! Heils from Australia.
Yo, so I was searching up some videos for how to make some leather pouches for a larp character (Never too many pouches, NEVER!) before I started looking for the right tools and bought the leather and stuff and I clicked this video but I ended falling asleep because this dude's voice was so calming.
Haha ASMR much?
@@DarkHorseWorkshop Ha, yeah. I'll probably end up integrating this into my bedtime routine whenever I can't sleep or somethin'.
Getting back into leather crafting after learning about it in junior high school many moons ago. I love your no nonsense tutorials, designs and color variations. You remove the apprehension by making things happen with whatever tool you have. I am subscribing and looking to use some of your sketches. Now! Will you please tell me where I can get the Viking music you use in your videos as that is very easy listening when leather crafting.
Well the music I'm listening to is off of EpidemicSound, there's a link in the description. But that's just music to add to videos. If you 're looking for actual bands, try Wardruna or Heilung or Danheim czcams.com/channels/LTQVYwu-M-MnfOJDKlFnOQ.html
Nice, I love the viking art too. You’ve done a couple pouch types, how about adding a sporran? Would be quite similar to this one actually.
Sounds good, a Sporran could be fun and it's been a while since I put one together.
awesome
When you were drilling the antler for the toggle all I could think was "damn I hate drilling antler it STINKS!" Then you said it's easy and smelly and I almost cried laughing! 🤣 I was like oh good so it's not just me that finds the smell revolting, glad I'm not alone!
Cool, it's a sporran!! Lol. Thanks for vid, has inspired me to do one to wear with my kilt.😉
Was just think that
Muy hermoso tu trabajo, estoy pendiente de tus videos. Saludos desde Chile.
¡Gracias un montón! He querido subtitular más de mis videos en español y otros idiomas, pero es mucho trabajo. Me alegro de que estés viendo!
Back packs, mini bag. Multi use bag shopping bag that expands on each end with lace n then fabric flap snaps inside bag....those are ideas. :0) grey and black bag with a dragon on the front flap.
Great video as always, my friends and I from the Warriors of Ash love your videos and are inspired to keep creating leather projects, specifically for HEMA. I'd love to see a video on making armor pieces or modding fencing gear like we have, be interesting to see your take on it. Cheers!
I've been thinking of doing a gorget video but am not sure how much interest there would be. It's probably the most refined peice of armor I sell.
@@DarkHorseWorkshop Thanks for the reply! Anything armor related would be awesome, maybe a back of the head protection for a fencing mask would be relatively easy to demonstrate. Anyways, looking forward to future videos!
Thank you so much!
Your content is classic, your presentation is easy to follow & easy to listen to. Very inspirational, indeed!
I wonder if there’s any diy use for the leather hole punch outs? Hmmm ... will have to think about that.
Again, many thanks. 💜
For the left over leather from punching holes? Not sure.. I do make leather washers occasionally from larger ones if I need them.
Love it I’ll take one please
extremely nice work i would like to have one please
🤘😆🤘 thank You
Like this one a bunch thumbs up my friend
Your designs are just incredible.
Thanks for the great videos! What type of leather was that you used for the gusset?
Here's a challenge - a belt pouch to fit a digital camera into. A Canon PowerShot, to be exact. I'm making a set of dragon-scale armor (from craft foam) and need a pouch that wouldn't be out of keeping for my character to carry my camera, spare batteries & memory card in.
Trying to put together a Merida one and this is such a perfect one... being in college, though, means I don't quite have the space or time for a project like this sadly! :(
i felt like i was walking around a Brotherhood of steel bunker while i was watching the video :/ ,
great work my dude.
Nice work...subbed👍
Thanks.
You solved the problem that has confounded me all this time in regards to bag pattern making. Make the gusset too long, that way the number of holes isn't relevant!
I am wizard! Haha

Rivets do pop through the leather eventually due to wear and tear. I strongly suggest hand stitching for longer life.
hi, great vid again :-) ive been using ecoflo super sheene as a ressist but the results seem so unpredictable, i hadnt thought of using resolene :-)
Feibings also makes a product called "Pro Resist" chemically it's very similar to resolene. But it's formulated to be a better resist.
wow
WOW ,,,
Just recently found your channel. Wow your leather work is amazing. I'm going to be trying my own drawstring pouch after watching your video. Also curious, what song is in the background, I've heard it on a few of your videos and it is pretty epic.
It might be "towards excellence" on epidemic sound. I'll dig it up when I'm home if I remember.
How did you punch the holes for the gusset, did you wrap it around and mark it on a curve or just do the same distance of holes on the gusset when flat?
How long did you let the leather dry between the dye and applying the finish?
Hi I’m enjoying your work and I am very interested in getting some of your patterns if you don’t mind. Thanks,Graeme.
Links in the description to my etsy and website.
Is the knotted serpent a personal favorite or does it feel more authentic to the Viking aesthetic? I like it as well but I like the ravens and owl artwork of yours I have seen. I really like your channel. Thanks for the great content!
Great video as usual! How easy is resolene to use in a spray gun? Do u have to cut it with anything or can u just pour it right in?
I just pour it right in, stay on top of cleaning it, I've left it a couple of times and it's a pain.
Thanks for the instruction. My first attempt at a gusseted pouch. I’m finding by the first curve my holes so are off by one. So I have to angle the needle to 45 degrees to reach the next one. Thinking of using 3.85 mm irons for the inside of curve and 4 mm on the outside? Maybe the difference in radius from outside compared to inside?
Thanks
You get this sorted out?
Where do you get your leather from of you dont mind my asking?
"Knot a big deal" Lmao

So I actually bought your pattern and the tutorial was really helpful. Probably the best leatherwork I have pulled off so far. One thing I have noticed is that since I'm using hand shears to cut my leather due to a lack of a proper workshop and tool set, my items tend to end up slightly lopsided. The above pouch had to be trimmed slightly to close properly, and its still just a hair off. Tips for avoiding this?
I'd need more info on what exactly is happening. maybe a quick doodle, email me info@darkhorseworkshop.com
woooow liiiiiike :D

A cheeky question, where do you get the Viking designs? I don't do leather work but I do hand carving, some those designs would look awesome on a stave.
All of my designs I draw and are available on my website for purchase for people to use in their projects.
I just bought your pattern. What is burnishing? And where to you the stuff to finish the leather?
Burnishing is smoothing the edges through friction and some kind of wax water or burnishing agent
i think toggle is the word you are looking for for your antler tip fixing
what paper did you use to draw
What is vegi tan? Faux leather?
I need this pouch . Shoot me some info please
Yay deer antler ,,,
Hello,
I've recently bought a pattern from your Etsy shop.
But I am a quite beginner working with leather, hard for me to figure out some things directly from the video...What kind of rivets do you use particularly for this project please? ( size) So many of them on Ebay....
Thank you in advance. :)
It really depends on the project. You need different lengths to go through different leather thicknesses. I'd just get a little assortment.
@@DarkHorseWorkshop Thank you for reply!
I was trying to get all similar components like on your video, thickness of the leather I use is app 2mm.
By the way, thanks for posting this video and making templates available to buy, very useful and nicely prepared, especially for beginners!
Regards from London. :)
@@hannukahoney9521 Glad you like the patterns and videos. I usually use Amazon and pick up double cap small medium and large rivets.
What weight leather did you use?
6-7 ish for the main body 3ish for the gusset
I just purchased the pattern. What are the recommended weights for the leather? No pattern ever seems to mention it.
Should be on there. But if not probably 6 to 8 for the main body, 3ish soft for the gusset. Loops probably 6oz
Dark Horse Workshop thanks I just need to buy some 3 then
@@jessemarshall7176 just be sure it folds nice etc.
Can I ask why you use hole punches rather than chisels for your stiching holes?
If I was making something with flat lace I'd use a chisel, any western type work etc. Nothing wrong with a chisel if you like how your stitches look through it.

hi good channel you have. what is the price for bag if i want to buy from you⛵️⛵️⛵️
I don't really sell things unless they're my one or builds. I think this is on my website for $225usd. If it's not send me. An email info@darkhorseworkshop.com we can work something out.
Beautiful pouch. How much does cost such one? :-)
I personally don't make any of these, but there are people out there that use my patterns and sell those items. I'm actually working on figuring out how to make a list of those people, stay tuned on www.darkhorseworkshop.com
Listen, do you think you could put a link to download the template? Of course free?
It's on my Etsy. www.darkhorseworkshop.com

How much are your belt pouches? I have a design for one.
Email me info@darkhorseworkshop.com to chat.
melt the ends of the sinew
What thicknesses did you use or am I just blind?
6-8 for the body, 3 but soft for the gusset.
@@DarkHorseWorkshop thanks! Did you use the leather on the Amazon list in the description?
Viking pattern looks like a Celt pattern.
one thing i have noticed is you always put too much gel antique on.

I bought this pattern. I like it but I would have liked to written direction. So I didn't have to watch the video over and over.
Dude your making a Viking fanny pack, LOL
What, no story!

When your making things and clothes for everyday use because fuck current fashion styles. In the age of civility be a viking.
I've been looking through all your videos f your it, if no one else will say it I will. You look like Aaron Rodgers older brother. 😳 or maybe you're just Aaron Rodgers
nice work, but not viking
100% Correct. I should have said Inspired
