    We’ll be comparing rhassoul clay and shikakai powder on natural afro kinky hair.
    Rhassoul is a clay (like bentonite) while shikakai powder is a plant extract that contains saponins. These are two natural methods to cleanse the hair.
    Click here to buy rhassoul: amzn.to/2UXdxMo
    Click here to buy shikakai: amzn.to/2wyleiU
    Each mask contains only water and clay/powder. I didn't add oil because I wanted to measure the effet of the clay/powder ONLY on my hair.
    I left the shikakai mask for 5min and the rhassoul mask for 10min.
    Results :
    I found that rhassoul clay is gentle on the hair compared to shikakai powder. Also it defines the curls better.
    Shikakai is dryer to the hair but gives more volume.
    The price is roughly the same around $5 for 250g of product.
    You can use rhassoul on a regular basis.
    To clarify, only use shikakai and water. For a more gentler cleansing, add the oil of your choice.

    When I add honey and coconut oil to shikakai powder makes a big difference. It won't be drying at all. I like both! Great video 👍🏾

      Adding organic whole Leaf aloe vera powder one teaspoon / 5% of your total hair mask or treatment. That's the true ingredient for moisturized hair! Must be organic from a reputable supplier whole leaf powder. Try it You'll see. I don't have to add all that other stuff. If you add I know the liquid make sure it's something your hair really really loves and benefits from like my hair loves organic green tea and aloe

    You did a wonderful job comparing the two products. I appreciate the hard work that you place into preparing and editing your videos. I know producing it in two languages is alot of work and it is very kind of you to want everyone to be able to take part in the information you are sharing. The clay side definitely gave you more definition, and I agree that the shikaki side increased your volume.

    My experience with ayurvedic powders is to always strain them before applying to hair, (so as not to get that straw-like drying effect) whether they're in oils or just water. I have had massive success using herbs like Shikakai like a liquid shampoo or detangler that I spray on my hair. I let about 1 tsp of powder sit in a mug of hot water till it cools down - like a tea- strain it then put into a spray bottle, and voila! Love Shikakai

    never ever use shikakai powder by itself it's really drying!! BUT I'M TELLING YOU it will give you so much more volume it will make your hair thicker and stronger if you use it on a daily basis I have 4c thin hair but thanks to shikakai I gain so much volume and my hair is thicker and feels stronger so try to mix it with hot water aloe Vera juice or gel and a good deep conditioner

      Make sure the water you're adding or tea is not boiling hot. It should be medium to hide and steel touchable with your fingers. Also aloe vera powder organic the entire whole leaf organic powder there's a different so make sure you're clear on what you're looking for. Aloe vera powder is way better than aloe vera juice or gel.

    I would make the Shikakai power more liquid and apply it to the scalp only with with an applicator bottle. That will be great "clarifier" for the scalp. Apply Rhassoul or bentonite on the ends of the air.

    • @minimalassembly7893
      @minimalassembly7893 Před 5 lety

      Yes, you can. I use “sodium bentonite” clay by Redmond and find it is the most gentle, yet cleansing version compared to “calcium bentonite” from Aztec Indian Healing Clay.

    Shikakai should only be used on the scalp and it cured my dandruff! It's definitely not hydrating like rhassoul but it does leave my hair surprisingly soft! My issue with shikakai is more the smell and I find it hard to wash out compared to clay washes. Great video!!

    Cover the clay with water without stirring and let is sit for 1-2 minutes. The clay and water will mix wirhout clumps etc

  • @TheJanicetunes
    @TheJanicetunes Před 6 lety +4

    I don't think u used the shitkakai correctly. The Indian women use it completely different. A better comparison is with a shampoo not a mask. Allow it to sit over night in a mix of other ayruvedics and yogurt, water or aloe gel. After 12 hours or overnight apply it like a shampoo and rinse. This is like a volumizing shampoo. If you add the right ayruvedics to it you don't even need conditioner after. But it really depends on how your hair ends up and what you add

    Shikakai is used to clean the scalp. Clays are used to remove toxins from the hair strand but shouldn't be used on the scalp. These two products are not comparable since they serve different purposes.

      lisa s rhassoul can be applied to the scalp bc its helps with dandruff and gentle exfoliation...I use it and it does wonders...but I agree about the shikakai powder...I thought it was either suppose to be added into a clay wash or only applied to the scalp....
