We’ll be comparing Sidr and shikakai powder on natural afro kinky hair.
Sidr and shikakai powder are plant extracts that contains saponins that clean the hair.
Each mask contains only water and powder. I didn't add oil because I wanted to measure the effet of the powder ONLY on my hair.
I left the shikakai and the sidr mask for 5min on my hair.
Results :
I found that Sidr is gentler on the hair that Shikakai but leaves MUCH more residue on the hair. It is also more difficult to get rid of it when rinsing it. You might want to mix your Sidr mask better than me.
We use Sidr in Arab countries a lot there’s literally Sidr tree everywhere.
Wish you added the qasil (sidr) into the water slowly with a 1 tbsp per cup (ir more water since the mask is supposed to be thin) until a water consistency is met then left it for a couple minutes to allow the leaves to swell some more. Otherwise there's clumping hence the residue. Still sidr for the win! An ancient African plant with amazing benefits.
Hi , iam from india and I have been using shikakai powder , amla ( goose berry ) powder and aritha powder ( soap nut ) in equal portion , like a hair pack and it gives excellent results . Maybe you can add even sidr to it and mix it all together as hair pack , leave it for drying , maybe 4 / 5 hrs or more and wash with pain water , I dont use shampoo or soap to wash my hair , as soap nut and shikakai both are soapy , and after my hair dries , I oil my hair . So this is usually done on holidays, and l keep the oil for 2 / 3 days and wash when needed .we love oil in hair , we have to tie or make bun on oily hair but it's okay for Indians to do so ! But it works very well for hair ( natural conditioning )
I thought the sidr powder side looked better.
Compared to your rhassoul/bentonite clay results... I hate them both :( But it was so helpful because I was hearing about Shikakai and was curious. This definitely resolved my curiosity for it.
Yess it definitely looks like the Shikakaï powder gives you more volume! Your accent is so cute btw😍
love these comparison videos
I love that your videos are both English and French .. I'm learning French so I love your videos tho I've cut my hair after 3years of growing it (long story) but I'm growing it back .. I will try a lot of your tips
Love your comparison videos, and your husband is such a good sport to help you out with your demonstrations. Have you ever tried Kaolin Clay?
the sider powder as I know very usefull for the hair if you mix it with diy deep conditioners and it can also clean the hair very well, but it can dry it at the same time
Je suis nouvelle sur ta chaîne et j'adore ce que tu fais. C'est vraiment bien et un format que je n,'avais vu nulle part avant. Continues comme ça ma belle bisoussss
I mix sidr with moringa powder and it makes a great strengthening and growth hair treatment.
What a cool concept! I hadn't heard of either powder! Your accent is lovely and from looking down your channel I like that you produce your videos in different languages! :D Great video!
The ghost bustery put me off man!
Can you do a skincare video? Your complexion is glowing, beautiful and smooth.
so glad YT had this in my recommended videos I love your channel!! new subscriber
I like the sidr
Shikakai is supposed to be a scalp treatment. Not really on strands.
i've never heard of either of these powders but they are worth looking into. i'm glad you offer other choices for those of us who want to use something other than shampoo, tfs!
The sidr side is looking much healthier and Bette in my opinion
