- We’ve got 2 different automotive philosophies duking it out on today’s THIS vs THAT, but they’re both LS swaps! Kurtis has the home field advantage with his drag spec’d Subaru BRZ, available for your ogling pleasure on his channel @ls3brz591! It’s got a beefy LSX engine powering some big Hoosier slicks, and all sorts of beep boops hidden in the glove box like he’s James Bond! Nima of @VossRacing meanwhile has a lean, mean, green BMW F22, and its lean and green thanks to the carbon kevlar bodykit! It weighs only 2800lbs, so the 427ci LS7 can push it that much further. You should include the tire setup in the stats overview portion. Traction, especially on a no prep surface, is everything.
The suspension must not be great on the Brz. it was on a far superior tire (bias ply vs what I think is an r888 on the BMW)

@@maxreimann6734 gridlife was rough to us lol, lost a lifter, tensioner, alternator, and blew up third gear mid track. Still had a blast tho!
Little information: the F-22 is actually called the Raptor and is operated by the USAF. The Eurofighter Typhoon is operated by the RAF. I'm assuming they called the car the F22 Eurofighter because it's a mix of american (being an LS) and european (being a BMW)

This is a good observation, makes sense as a “hybrid” - but that generation BMW 2 Series uses the manufacturer chassis code “F22” so it may be as simple as that.

No, they actually called it the F22 eurofighter cause, its a BMW F22 chassis and eurofighter cause when kristaps bluss first built the original E92 eurofighter, it was very aggresive looking and from europe so it was given the name eurofighter after the the jet, and after that all the BMWs that HGK builds are known as eurofighters

Carbon fiber Kevlar is sick. Was actually looking at getting some to build a skate board. Not as much as you think it would be
Its not the materials that makes composites expensive; its the time, skill, and equipment needed to make it. For large panels you need a vacuum bag big enough for stuff like a roof/hood and deep enough for fenders/bumpers. Then you need to make molds, then getting it to lay up smooth with no wrinkles and that's an art in it's self.
Better get it before Biden raises the price. Lol

Theres a lot of myths around Kevlar composites. Its not stronger than carbon fiber and its heavier but its abrasion resistance is much better. It also likes to absorb water so its not great at being exposed to elements. Kevlar is much harder to work with and really hard to cut both before lamination and after.
Check out Powell flight decks and Santa Cruz vx boards they have a carbon fiber layers
I think they should do best 2/3 AFTER the first 1,000 foot race. That’s more realistic when these cars vary so much.

The 2nd race should really be pulling for a better position, i have seen maybe one person EVER on this show push back on the request from the loser of the 1st race. I totally get asking for a control race though haha

Wow. The F22 and the Eurofighter are two completely different fighter jets... In regards to this car, the F22 part of the name is derived from the chassis code for the car. I.e, BMW named this particular 2 series chassis an F22. Similar to how the e46 M3 is called the e46. The Eurofighter is the actual fighter jet this car is named after, not the F22.

Brz owner doesn't seem to drive well lol. Knowing he would lose the first race he "got out of it" because he felt something. Nope he just bailed knowing he would lose. Second race asks for a car, jumps and still loses to a drift car that hasn't been drag raced lol.

@@1800bmx LS swap wouldn’t add that much weigh though. No FI to put weight on the nose either. He never said it but maybe he did a solid axle conversion? Even then…
@@coryholbrook4643 I did some digging the lsx is a little heavier even with the transmission he's looking at around a 200lb gain and he's not caged so I'd be curious where that extra 150lbs or so came from.
@@1800bmx now you caused me to go looking. What I came up with was 480lbs for FA20 and trans and 454lbs for fully dressed LS7 plus 135lbs for T56, total 590lbs. 110lbs gain for triple the horsepower, not bad. Assuming just the drivetrain was swapped. Probably gained a few pounds during the swap from ancillaries
@@coryholbrook4643 the lsx is a heavier motor then the ls7 according to Google its come in at 568 for the lsx. I can definitely see where he picked up some weight but an extra 400lbs for a non caged car seems like a lot.
