The 5D3 was my first full frame camera and it completely changed my life, it allowed me to turn my hobby into a carrier. I've had the 5D4, 6D2, even the 60D, 70D, 80D, and I'm currently using the new R6. But the second camera that holds a place in my heart is the humble T3i.
G'day Tyler, sounds like you have had a few great cameras. Cheers, Duade
I LOVE that you show where you cropped! So many people say "you gotta fill the frame without cropping!". With modern cameras, cropping is not a problem at all. My first "pro" camera was a 5 megapixel, and I routinely printed 16x20 prints from that, so cropping a 20+ megapixel camera......no problem! What some people don't realize is that billboards only require 2-3 megapixels. Quite often, I will crop out 2/3 of the image on my 20 megapixel cameras, and it still looks great. For some pictures that were only going to be on the web, I've cropped out 80% of the image. Thanks for posting!
Robert, thanks for the feedback, cropping gives us a lot of creative freedom to compose shots how we want and I crop almost every image. Cheers, Duade
Loved this video. Can totally relate. Some seriously good shots you captured with it too. Great to remember & reminisce on those special moments 'when it all came together', whether on your own or a shared experience with your mates. Thank you!
Thanks Timmy, I appreciate the feedback, Cheers, Duade
Clever tribute to an old flame. Love it. Thank you for modelling the finer aspects of gear conservationalism. Cheers.
Lol, thanks Sean, it is always hard to know if others feel the same, glad it has been well received. Cheers, Duade 👍
I so appreciate that you took time to acknowledge the journey and stories shared with a camera. I so get that!!!!! I’ve got an old Pentax that I’ve had for over a decade and I dreaded upgrading cos it was for me a great little camera and I had taken so much with it and really just enjoyed it. It was a friend on many bush walks. I would be taking that moment to thank a camera like you have. My old friend sits as a back up now, and is there for the kids to “play” with if they want to try out some photograph making with it. Learn the ropes and basics . . . . .I love that others do weird like this too. I hope the new owner is enjoying the use of 5D iii.
Thanks Denise, I still have my original 40D that I will never sell and I also have a 1DX sitting on the shelf I have no intention of selling. :-) Cheers, Duade
All the shots are so perfect!!!
Loved them all!
Thank you, Cheers, Duade 👍
Thanks, one of the best videos about the 5dmkiii
Thanks John, a great camera for sure, Cheers, Duade
I first started with a 70D, and its very close to my heart with a lot of memories !! good work Sir
G'day Aarav, yes a wonderful camera, I am happy to hear you shared many moments with it. Cheers, Duade
The 40D was my first love. It taught me what a semi professional camera can do. It still takes fantastic pictures, and it is the backup to my 7D mk 1.
G'day Mike, we both share a fondness for the 40D, Cheers, Duade 👍
Like you I started with the 40D and after a few years graduated to the 5D mkIII. I sometimes look at the mkIV but struggle to find a compelling reason to change. I fall in love with my mkIII every time I take it out on a shoot. What a lovely camera.
G'day Grant, great to hear you are enjoying your 5Dmk3, it really is a fantastic camera. Cheers, Duade 👍
I did enjoy this video so much, thank you so much for sharing your love for this camera and photography and of course your wife! :D My first love was for Nikon D7OOO and I sold it few years ago, it worked for me so well and did so many beautiful shots, I cried happy/sad tears when I was sending it to another being. :))
Aiste, thank you for your kind words, yes, we do create a special bond with our gear, and like you a was sad to see it go. Cheers, Duade
Love this vlog, I recently got an Olympus OMD1 mk2 to replace my omd10 mk3 which has been an amazing little camera and there was a tear in the eye when it was traded in to help support the purchase of the omd1. I to had a great relationship with the 10 and will miss it but I couldn't persuade my other half other wise. Still onwards and upwards can't what to get out with the omd1.
So your not alone, chin up and keep on vloging.
Peter.
Thanks Peter, glad to hear I'm not alone, thanks for sharing. Cheers, Duade 👍
Hello Duade, I'm going to really date myself but my very first love of a camera was my first 35mm film camera a Canon AL-1. It was the predecessor to Canons auto focus line. I learned photography on film cameras where you didn't know if you got the shot until your film was developed. It was reliving the event or trip all over again. And yes several times things went crazy wrong! The film didn't engage the take up spool and when your counter reads 28 on a roll of 24 you know you blew it. But to be perfectly honest, I wouldn't of had it any other way. It taught me what being a good photographer was all about. By the way yes I still have that camera and she still works like she did when she was new. So having a camera as a first love? I'd think it odd for a photographer not to have one. Excellent video and I wish the new owner of the camera many great shots.
G'day Guy, thanks for sharing your story, sounds like a wonderful time had, I have a lot of respect for film shooters. I believe it is gaining in popularity as people discover how enjoyable it is. Cheers, Duade 👍
My first was a Pentax K1000. To this day some of my sharpest, and fondest images came from this camera! I really enjoy your videos!
Thanks for sharing, great to hear you got great use from that camera. Cheers, Duade 👍
first time to hear about it, interesting. thanks for sharing this👍
my comment was made for your video about image sizes from prime 400mm and zoom 100-400mm lenses, just found it was in wrong place😄
MAN WHEN YOU SAID YOUR WIFE IS YOUR TRUE LOVE I TRIPPED!!!!, great video
Lol, thanks for the comment. Cheers, Duade 👍
Good video! Fantastic photos!!
Thanks Louisa, I am happy to see you are enjoying my videos, Cheers, Duade
A great camera which I still love! Like you I upgraded to the 5DIV which I also love. My 5DIII sits in my cupboard as a backup, just in case I need it one day. I keep thinking I should sell it 😊 Love all the images you have captured with yours Duade!
Hi Kim, great to hear from you, hope all is well in the Shoalhaven. Yes it is a great camera. Glad to hear the 5d4 is still going strong. Cheers, Duade 👍
Warm greeting from beautiful Belize. I really enjoyed ur video, it made me get a bit sentimental. In all honesty, it's funny how, as a photographer, u do remember which images were created with which camera. That's true love!
G'day Diego, yes it is funny the relationship we build, but they do bring a lot of joy and remind us of happy times. Cheers, Duade 👍
I have not the long history with Canon like you as I recently moved from Nikon to Canon with the R5. But when I look back into my time with the Nikon D4s and Nikon D850, yeah, isn't it that an amazing moment when you realize what beautiful shots you got with this equipment - and it can still deliver such beautiful images today. Means, you don't need the latest and greatest to come up with such images. Ah ja...still I love my R5 now :) Great video, dude!
G'day Stefan, congrats on the R5, yes we are very fortunate to live in an era with these amazing cameras. The photos we can capture really are amazing and as you say so many memories. Cheers, Duade 👍
Some truly amazing shots you have taken! :)
Hope your newer cameras will serve you at least as well as the 5D3!
My first camera was a 7D and years after I bought a 5DsR which is what I've been using for years now and still really like. However, I mostly shoot landscapes and architecture, only ocassionally wildlife (for which a 5D4 or R5/R6 would no doubt be a better hit).
G'day and thanks, great to hear you are getting a lot of use from your camera. I assume you must be excited about the large MP R5 that is rumoured, no doubt would be an excellent Landscape camera. Cheers, Duade 👍
Great but emotional content! Really felt bad about my Canon 7D Mark ii which I sold last month. I took my first and great bird photos with it but switched to micro four thirds because I couldn’t afford a canon 500 or 600mm which I badly needed. Having said that I am finding my new love in m4/3 but the first love never fades away! 😭
Thanks Asif, I had a great time with the 7D, sounds like you are enjoying the micro 4/3 system. Cheers, Duade 👍
First camera I fell in love with was my Canon Eos 3. Still have it and pick it up every now and then. Sometimes miss the magic when a roll of film was developed and you could see the photos for the first time. Moved over to the R6 with a few others in between. Feel like I finally found a new love.
Peter, yes, I remember the excitement of getting photos back and checking them. Isn't is amazing how instant things are now. Congrats on the R6, it is a great camera. Cheers, Duade
Duane, my first love was my Nikon F2 I bought nearly 45 years ago. I now have a Nikon D7500, but I still have my F2. Tim
G'day Tim, wow that is an enduring love❤️👍, I bet you have many find memories together. Thanks for sharing. Cheers, Duade 👍
Loved ur pics with ur 5d mkiii may upgrade later and loved ur humor plus ordered the 400mm f5.6😁😁
Great to hear Kabir, thanks for the support, Cheers, Duade
I ordered that lens yesterday.
Great video, thank you for posting
G'day Caroline, my pleasure, have a lovely weekend. Cheers, Duade 👍
The colour coming out of these old Canon cameras is just sublime.
G'day, yes they are lovely cameras, Cheers, Duade
My first camera was Canon 40D which my wife bought for me with her savings😊, since than I progressed to Canon 5D mark2 and last week I got 7D mark 2 especially for Bird photography. I truly understand the attachment towards your camera and it takes a lot to give away something which has given you so much in return❤️
Harish, congrats on the new camera, that extra reach helps with birding. Yes, I have become attached to my gear. Cheers, Duade
My Nikon D500 was the camera I loved. It was hard to let it go. I’m excited to move over to the Canon R5.
G'day Daniel, the D500 is what the 7D2 should have been, a great camera. Enjoy your R5. Cheers, Duade 👍
I’m doing the same thing! Ready to try’s something new .
@@idahomountainlover754 so 6 months after I wrote this, I actually ended up getting the Fuji X-T4 with the 16-55mm f2.8. For how I’m currently using my camera, it’s beyond perfect. Maybe I’ll end up switching to Canon in the future.
I still have my 7D and 5D Mark Iii. Nice to see what a pro can do with the Mark III. I picked up the EOS R last April and haven’t touch the DSLRs since. You have inspired me to take it for a spin again! Thanks for your videos. Kim
Kim, thanks for the feedback, it is amazing how quickly camera technology advances, but like a lot of things nostalgia brings back many fond memories which is fun. Cheers, Duade
Your best video I seen so far :)
Thanks Jan, I'm glad you liked it, Cheers, Duade 👍
Beautiful pictures sir
Thanks Ashwath, Cheers, Duade 👍
Amazing photos captured with the 5D MKIII.
Thanks Kiah, it was an excellent camera. Cheers, Duade
Going way back to the second new camera I bought, the Canon F1n. Beautiful mechanical beast with cutting edge (for the time) electronic features. Wow, have things changed since then!
G'day Doug, sounds like it was a fun camera, yes how times have changed. Cheers, Duade 👍
Great video, I'm sure a lot of us can relate. My first love was a Canon FT film camera. It slid down mountain trails with me 😃 I was so sad when it became irreparable. I had another Canon film camera, and a second generation Rebel, but can honestly say that my current 80D is the first camera since that FT that I'm really attached to, maybe when I have more time to invest, will go full frame.
Thanks Berry, I think we all remember our cameras fondly as they bring us a lot of joy. Great to hear the 80D is doing you well. Cheers, Duade
Great images!
Thanks Kevin, Cheers, Duade 👍
if you love photography then it is sure you are going to fall in love with you camera for it becomes the instrument of your love that can make your love dreams true! I happened to fall in love with a female photographer that she initiated me in the mystery and beauty of photography and then I gained two loves. But your camera is much more faithful that your female partner and so this love has no end! My first love camera was canon 30D, then 5Dmarkii, then 5Dmarkiii, then 5Dmarkiiii and Eos R. Now they are old and buttered and must find a new love!
lol thanks for the great comment Alexander, it made me smile. Yes, it is only logical with how much time we spend with them and the joy they bring. Cheers, Duade
This is a great camera for an entry level or amateur photographer. I dropped $$$ on mirrorless with all the trimmings and sold in order to switch to the 5dmiii. The picture quality for all practical purposes is nearly the same and it's been a great learning tool .
Felt the same way for my trusty 60d whom I've shared so many adventures with. So reliable an equipment. I've since swapped it out for the 5d3 just last year.
G'day Rizandro, great to hear you have enjoyed your 60d and now your 5D3, Cheers, Duade
That’s a camera body I think almost any photographer would be happy with
G'day Miguel, it made me very happy that is for sure, Cheers, Duade
It is the third video that I look from you...This one is a bit peculiar, compared to all the videos about camera, I ever seen on youtube.
You speak about the 5D Mark III like a good colleague with whom you say your goodbye. A colleague you had a good time with.
I find it touching .. When I got my first Canon 10D, I kept it for years before giving it to the daughter of one of my friend who was interested in photography ... And when I look the old photos I am amazed.
Thank you for this great time.
Thanks Daniel, I am glad you are enjoying my videos, yes, we do create a bond with our cameras that is for sure. Cheers, Duade
I still have my 50D and my 5D III. I'm very happy with my III, still using it almost every week. Both have been rock solid.
Thanks Mark, yes it is a fantastic camera and I was sad to see it go. Thanks for the comment, Cheers, Duade 👍
Don't see many shots of the Spirit of Enderby pop up on videos, what a great adventure that was, we did it nearly 2 years ago, so can relate to the photos. My husbands Canon 70D froze twice, where my Olympus OMD EM5 mk2 didn't miss a beat. Just had to say hi, not many of us have been to Antartica on such a great voyage. Also i have just started my journey with birds and your videos have been very helpfull, thank you.
G'day Kim, it sure is a fantastic trip and very enjoyable. Glad to hear your camera performed so well. I'm glad you found the channel and are finding it helpful. Cheers, Duade 👍
I’ve just moved on from my first real camera a NikonD5600. Haven’t let it go just yet but moved on to a Z6ii. Great video, especially the Echidna in the background!
Tod, I was hoping someone would notice and you were the first to mention it so well done. Great to hear you have picked up the Z6ii. Cheers, Duade
I'd be very sad to let the camera go mate if I had taken such great shots as those on your video ! Hope you have as much success with the new gear.👍
Thanks Glenn, I hope so, Cheers, Duade
Amazing sir ❤️❤️
Thanks for the feedback, Cheers, Duade
My first camera too was 5D iii even though I have EOS R now I still keep it as a backup and videos 🤓👍🏾
Great to hear Paul, they are still wonderful cameras, Cheers, Duade
It is an excellent camera. Very funny video. I enjoyed the humor and the images!
Thanks John, I appreciate the feedback, Cheers, Duade 👍
Superb pictures
Sukhvir, thanks for your kind words, Cheers, Duade
Not weird at all. We spend a lot of time with our cameras, and often, they are our only companion. (I've got a Nikon D800 that I really should pass on to a new owner ... but I haven't.)
Good shooting to the 5DIII's new owner.
Thanks Shane, you are right we do spend a lot of time with them. I remember when my mate got the very first D800, I was super jealous of all those pixels. Cheers, Duade
I had an XTi Rebel that I liked, but fell in love with the 70D. Liked it so much I bought a second 70D when the first was about worn out. Later sent them both in and had the shutters replaced. Now my new love is the R6. :-)
G'day Paul, sound like you take plenty of shots which is great, glad to hear you are enjoying the R6, Cheers, Duade 👍
I bought the 5dm3 a year ago and have just purchased a canon 400 5.6 with 1.4 extender. Should be here for this weekend. Love your channel. Started out with D60 and 30d and now 5dm3. Mamiya TLR portrait work years ago.
Keith, congrats on the new gear, I would advise shooting at f10 or f11 when using the 1.4 extender, if you shoot wide open at f8 your shots will likely be a little soft. The lens is sharpest without the converter but the extender can be useful when you need the reach. Cheers, Duade
Brilliant Video. Subscribed.
Thanks for the sub and feedback, Cheers, Duade
I started with a Canon AE1 and later upgraded to an A1 and a T70, those Cameras I used right up until the digital age. My first digital Camera was a Panasonic FZ10. I used that until about 5 years ago when I went back to SLR’s and bought the Canon 5d mkiii.... looking forward to the high mp version of the R5, until then I’ll keep the mkiii... I still have all my cameras...
Great to hear, yes the new cameras coming this year sound very interesting indeed. Cheers, Duade 👍
The camera I keep remembering is the Nikon D2HS. Only four mp, but the handling, colours and the look of the files was amazing. Now I'm using the Sony A7ii and a canon 6d.
The Canon 7d Mark ii. I really do love it!
Great to hear, Cheers, Duade
hi Duade i just love my 5d mk111 i dont think i will change does everything i want cheers
G'day David, great to hear, it is a great camera. Enjoy, Cheers, Duade 👍
Aww mate, I think I got something in my eye there watching that! Lol - very funny tribute to a camera that clearly served you so well over the years making many beautiful memories together! It’s nice to hear it’s off to be appreciated by its new owner 👍
Advances in camera technology bring us new capabilities & functionality but that doesn’t automatically mean all legacy cameras suddenly have no use.
I’m afraid I’m on the dark side being a Nikon shooter and I absolutely love my oldskool 2012 Nikon D3s in all its 12mp full frame glory! She feels superb in the hand, is built like a tank and produces lovely RAW files. I happily reach for her when the conditions suit (low light & I can get reasonably close to the bird).
Once again top video mate 👍 Stay well
G'day Adrian, glad I'm not the only one, yes, some cameras just have those intangible things that are hard to explain, the 5D3 was one of those and it sounds like your D3s is the same. Thanks for the comment, Cheers, Duade 👍
Gidday Duade,
my trusty 7Dii started glitching and freezing up so I took it in too Canon for repair but they told me it would take 2-3 weeks 🥺
I thought I'd go crazy with no camera so I looked at renting a camera but even the cheapest hire place was several hundred NZ$ for 3-4 weeks so I looked at buying another body.
I found a 5Diii at a reasonable price and I'm just amazed at how much better full frame is for portraits and low light and how great this camera is in spite of the very low shutter speed at 6 fps.
The shutter is ridiculously loud though (much louder than my 7Dii ) and I mostly use the silent shutter option even though that drops the shutter speed down to 3 fps.
Now I understand why people rave on about how much better full frame is for bokeh and low light and my primes like my 50 f/1.8, 85 f/1.8 and 135 f/2.8 are transformed into true bokeh beasts compared to how they look with my 7Dii. Even my EF100-400 ii (especially at 400mm) is quite magical and I'm looking forward to how my Great White EF300 f/2.8 and EF400 f/2.8 plus extenders perform especially in the bush.
Cheers
Noel
Thanks Noel, the 5d3 is a stunningly beautiful camera that produces amazing images, it does not surprise me you are loving it. Cheers, Duade
I love my 7Dii! And I also really love my original 5D with 12.1MP for portraits.
Great to hear, so many good cameras out there. Cheers, Duade 👍
I have loved many cameras over the years, however, the first camera that really felt special was the Canon EOS 1V film camera. The viewfinder seemed to find and lock onto the most perfect compositions. The sound of the shutter/mirror mechanism was magic. The camera felt like it was built to take any punishment. I probably could have driven a nail in with it. I currently have a 5DIII but am considering the upgrade to the R6.
I really enjoy your content and sense of humor. Keep up the good work!
Hi Earl, sounds like an awesome camera. Glad to hear your 5d3 is working well for you. Cheers, Duade
The 1V and the 5D MKIII are my two favourite cameras
My first love was my first SLR back in the late seventies, the Nikon F2A + Motor Drive and I still have it. However, I loved my Nikon D3 that I bought in 2008 the most.
and thanks for your comment, sounds like you have been enjoying photography for a long time which is just fantastic. Great to hear you are enjoying your D3. Cheers, Duade
Great vid Duade.
Adds another possible camera to my upgrade wish list. Im currently shooting a t3i. Want and sorta need a better body. At 3 frames a second and a 8 frame buffer, well you know. Have been on the edge about to buy a 90d. Not many opportunities for bird photography here in NE USA right now so just waiting for a deal.
G'day William, yes, it is another camera to consider for sure. Which lens do you currently have, the 90D has the major benefit of being a crop sensor giving you extra reach. However, the low light performance of the 5D3 is very good. Cheers, Duade
@@Duade I'm shooting with a Sigma DG 120-400 4.5-5.6. It just about lives at 400. What I get it right it can produce some nice images. Because I shoot mostly birds, dolphins and whales when I can, the 1.6 crop is a help. Keep up the great content.
Bill
Nobody is going to say anything about the echidna that strolls through at 8:20??
My first and only love so far is a 7D. I bought it with the 400 5.6 second hand about 6 years ago and it’s been such a reliable combo! I’m thinking of upgrading to a 5diii soon. Love the channel Duade - especially that you feature the 400 5.6 so often. It’s been very helpful.
Gday from up the road in Albury 🙂
David, great to hear you have had fun with that combo, it served me well for a number of years. I have visited Wonga Wetlands a few times chasing Azure Kingfishers, a lovely spot. Cheers, Duade
Awww. That piano background is very emotional. I also own a 5Diii but im not letting it go even if i already own the Eos R. I will keep it until it dies.
yes, it was a little emotional saying goodbye to the 5d3, it was such a great camera. Cheers, Duade
@@Duade i understand that. When i sold my 7D for the 5dmkiii i also was very sad. Hahaha funny how get attached to our fave toy.
@@TheG7thcapo It sure is, but I spent a lot of time with that camera that is for sure. :-)
Hi, I love my Canon 1dX 🤩📷
It's a beast!! 😮
I didn't regret my choice 👌
G'day Robin, that is great to hear, Cheers, Duade 👍
Excellent.🧐
Thank you, Cheers, Duade
Mine was my 7d mkII. I’ve had it as my primary camera for Five years, and it’s been a great journey. I’ve just received my R5 so after all these years it’s being relegated to my secondary camera.
G'day David, congrats on the R5, you won't know yourself, thanks for sharing. Cheers, Duade 👍
Daude: I started with 1300d, currently own the 80d and its a good one.
Maybe upgrading to 5d mkiv or R6 sooner.
Great to hear Riyaz, I will get onto that review today. Cheers, Duade 👍
i still have it with me. reliable. great photo.
Yes it is a great 📷 Cheers, Duade 👍
Duade, my first camera love was a Canon F1 which was my first professional camera at age 17 and the beginning of a lifelong relationship with Canon cameras. I have used, Nikon, Fuji, and Pentax professionally but my personal choice has always been Canon. I just turned 64 last month, so it's been a long relationship.
Thanks for sharing your history Mark, sounds like a great history of photography. Cheers, Duade
Canon T70 was my real love camera wise, it was my first foray into the 35mm world of film. Previous brownie camera was ok and I took many pictures but I was a pig in mud with a new world of lenses and learning with my T70.
sounds like you have a long history with photography which is great to hear, I think cameras return us to joyful experiences which I love. Cheers, Duade
Mine was 30D, it seems like a lifetime ago...and it was!
Yes it was that is for sure. Cheers, Duade 👍
My true love is 5DII and 7D. I bought them recently, used naturally. However the 5DII was almost new with only 5k shutter count when I bought it in 2018. Got two 7Ds late last year moderately used. The reason, I know they are reliable heavy weights and plan to use them as long as they continue clicking. Same time I have my eyes focused on EOS R as well. Because that will allow me stack extenders on my EF 300mm f/2.8L IS II USM telephoto lens and still maintain AF in the EVF.
Previously I used 450D, 50D, 6D and 70D. Good memories with all. But, 70D incorporates a flawed mainboard and it crashed. Same thing happened to many other users.
G'day Quazi, sounds like you are sorted for cameras for awhile. Good luck with your photography. Cheers, Duade 👍
Hi Duade,
Great video again, and of course the wives come first and I have two reasons for choosing my wife above the love of photography.
One she's just lovely and second of all she lets me spend a fortune on my love for photography!
My first ever camera was a Pentax Super -A, this camera was the camera I discovered and learned the basics of photography back in 1994.
After that, I started getting top-notch bodies like the Nikon F90-X and Nikon 100.
Still loving photography and about two years ago I started getting into bird photography.........also. doing a lot of pro soccer, some tennis, and portrait.
Recently got a Nikon D4s and a Nikon D5 and also having a Nikon D4 but not using this body anymore.
I'm thinking about getting a Nikon D850 for portraits and also for birding..............we'll see what the future brings............
G'day Pim, sounds like we both having amazing wife's which is great. Sounds like you have a passion for photography which is what it's all about. Good luck with the birding. Cheers, Duade 👍
Hi excellent videos and shots is the 5d mk to old to buy now I’ve currently got the 600d canon
Thanks for the nice video Duade, my first camera was a Canon 350D, then the 40D, 50D, 7D, 6D, 1D X and a 5D MKIII, and i still use de 7D and the 5D MKIII, a great work horse, maybe this year a 1D XII :) no mirrorless for me ;)
A lot of nice cameras there and great to hear you are still enjoying two of my favourite cameras. Cheers, Duade
@@Duade oops, i forgot my most dearly camera, the 1D MKIII, used it for 6 years 😁
I like your video. I still own a 40D and a 5DMarkIII . The image quality of the 5D3 is so good that I can't decide to buy the R6, except for the AF. I'm now trying to take photos of birds with the 5D3 and a 300mm f2.8 IS + 2x extender but the results are not good. Your pictures are awesome, and your videos very interesting. Thank you
Thanks for the feedback, yes, the 5d3 is a beautiful camera and I was amazed with the quality when I got it. Good luck with the birding, Cheers, Duade
8:00 you've got a nice little visitor over the camera in this perspective
Man, your video was so emotionnal, true passion in your voice.
Im considering buying an 5dmk3 vs eos RP.
My first camera (wife camera^^) is an 1200D, i love shoot with it. Personally im a video guy (own an Gh5) but i trully love canon for Photography. So i want to buy a new canon body for my wife, yes only for her and not me xD
Great job sir.
thanks for the lovely feedback, the 5d3 is a wonderful camera and I was able to capture many lovely shots with it. It will come down to the lenses you have as FF does take a bit of getting used too after using an APSC which gives you that effective reach advantage. Good luck with your purchase, Cheers, Duade
I had a smiliar relationship with my 6d. It was my first full frame camera. I bought it used from ebay. It took more than 30000 photos (landscape, Astro, portrait) the camera felt down but was still working. I sold it cause my new cam is an r6. The 80d is still here for wildlife for "more focal length" .
Great to hear Marc, it is funny how we form a relationship with our cameras, guess its understandable when they bring us so much joy. Glad to hear you picked up the R6. Cheers, Duade
My first usable camera was 80D. I keep it.
Many years ago I had the option to choose between the 5Diii and the 6D as the 5DIV was out and I opted for the 6D mainly because of its better dynamic range/ISO and slightly smaller size. I have kept the 6D for a long time, photographed both my daughters, many trips, events, still using it, etc. but no particular love towards it. In actual fact I can’t say I ever loved any piece of photo gear. Maybe I haven’t found the right one yet :-)) Take care and Tnx for sharing.
Thanks Dimitris, sometimes it takes a while to find the one lol. Thanks for the ongoing support, Cheers, Duade 👍
@@Duade yes finding the one is difficult indeed lol. pls carry on with the excellent work. And we’d like to hear more from your new love:-)
2021 and canon 5d mark iii Still my first love
Great to hear Joseph, it is a great camera. Cheers, Duade 👍

Hi @Duade I own a R7 but recently found a good deal for a 5D3 and pulled the trigger. I feel nostalgic about the time I used to use DSLR so I wanted to experience that feeling again. Could you point me to somewhere where I can see what settings did you use when you were doing bird photography with this camera. I should received next week but I want to read as much as I can in preparation.
My first love is the Canon 550D as it's my first camera.
G'day Hex, I think we all have a soft spot for our first. Cheers, Duade 👍
Love always needs a context ... so that you can have more than 1; a box for this and a box for that... ihihiihihihh.
Only had 2 cameras: 600d and the 80d. The 80d is still by my side. Let's wait to see what comes next. Many factors to consider right now.
G'day Rui, great to hear, Cheers, Duade 👍
Hi Duade my camera was a canon 20 d I am still very impressed with the images it produced. I sometimes wonder where our photography is going ,the cameras are getting better and better ,locking on to the birds eye, pre focusing on where the bird might move to ,what are we going to do when it’s more down to the camera we use than our own abilities. In the old film days about 80% of the photos you took were down to you if they turned out good or not. Anyway thanks for the excellent videos Best Regards Tim
G'day Tim, it is an interesting question and I would love to debate this over a cuppa. I guess there is nothing stopping people using whatever camera they want and I believe film is making a resurgence in the landscape world for the reasons you mention. I think wildlife would be very difficult with manual focus and film. I enjoy the process of being out with the birds and hitting the shutter, so as long as I can do that I'm happy. Cheers, Duade 👍
@@Duade yes I agree with you thanks again Regards Tim
I purchased the 5Diii as my first full frame and still keep it as a backup but it seldom gets used. I run two 5Div's which are great but there is something special about the colours from the mkiii sensor. I'm reluctantbto let it go but I think it may be time soon. Had some many great shots from it's clunky operating machine gun sounds.
G'day Andrew, yes it did have a unique sound and look that I enjoyed. Cheers, Duade 👍
I already have 40d and its my first professional camera. And I Still love it :)
What a great camera to start with, I'll give you credit for loyalty that is for sure. 😆
@@Duade Thanks.Good work
Great video! How much better did you liked the image quality of the 5DmkIV compared to the mark 3?
G'day Rowin, It was mainly the bigger files which allowed more of a crop, and it had even better ISO performance. The IQ wasn't that noticeable but I guess at higher ISO you had slightly cleaner files. Cheers, Duade 👍
My first and second camera Nikon D5600, the third camera Nikon D500 and the fourth camera Nikon D850 and used everyday the four camera.
G'day, those are some lovely cameras, the D850 really is the pinnacle of DSLR. Cheers, Duade 👍
Stunning shots, I've only just started photography now have a Canon 600d. I'm looking to upgrade to canon rp 🤞
Thank you, and good luck with the new camera. If you can wait and see what Canon does this year it might be worth waiting as animal eye AF is amazing technology that is a must have for birding. Cheers, Duade 👍
@@Duade cheers Duade I'll hold out till summer 👍
Good on you, making a decent Thank-you-video to you "Old Faithful"! Gotta say, at least in this case, your wife is wrong, you're *not* crazy filming this!😉Also: I write this comment after joining your Membership, like 30 minutes ago. As a retirée I can't afford more than the lowest level, but hopefully I can sustain it a long time. At least so I can attain the Pink Robin added to my comment... I somehow wish I could keep it, it really should be the "highest" level!
Thank you so much for your support, I really do appreciate it, yes the Pink Robin is a special bird that is for sure. For you I have created a Pink Robin emoji Cheers, Duade
Definately a great camera the 5D Mk III!
My first really loved camera was the EOS RP - the first time affordable full frame glory, brand new with warranty instead of 2nd hand troubles!
But it was just for about 1 1/2 years that i loved it as my "perfect camera". Since i got into wildlife and video more interested i realized how "bad" the RP can be. None the less its still a very great camera (if fast burst speed or 4k video arent needed), just how super light and small it is but still "good" in the hands, especially with something like the RF 24, 35 or 50mm on it!
Now i have the R7 which is superior to the RP in wildlife, im not so sure which camera i should love more, both are great in their own usecases. RP for basically anything/everything, R7 wildlife and video centered. Probably still the RP - its just more universal and full frame glory when it comes to regular photography only.
I came from EOS 400D (as kit, my first "real" camera) and 550D (bought and sold after some years for 70€ 2nd hand), so the RP was a BIG JUMP in AF/UI/flippy screen and low light for me. Probably thats why i love the RP that much, since its my first "good" sensor on a "modern" platform.
Thanks, yes, I think we always remember the camera that delivers exceptional quality and the 5d3 was the one for me. Cheers, Duade
Still using my 1Dmark2n...must be about 15 years I've had it now. If the ISO was usable over 800 I'd keep it but hankering for an R5 with battery grip now.
G'day, great camera, yes the high ISO of the new cameras is amazing. Cheers, Duade 👍
Hi Duade, Love your videos. I currently have a 7d mark ii and 400 5.6 and 100 2.8. I'm thinking of changing to the 5d mark iii because I can't find an everyday lens i.e. a 24-70 2.8 for it. Would I be crazy to change the camera, I bought it used and can change to the 5d iii for the same price? thanks!
Hi Danny, it depends on what subjects and conditions you shoot in the most. The 400 5.6 will be quite short on a full frame body as on the 7D you have 640mm of focal length (400 x 1.6) which makes wildlife big in your frame. With the 5D3 you lose the crop factor so you will only have 400mm which means the wildlife will be much smaller and you would have to crop a lot more or get closer. The FF will perform much better in low light and has better IQ for sure when it comes to your macro or portrait work. It is tough, you almost need both cameras ;-)
Super experience
Thanks Tony, Cheers, Duade 👍
My 1st was a 40D, then a 50D, now a 60D..next will be the 7D2..maybe a full frame eventually.
Thanks Darren, good luck with your future cameras, Cheers, Duade
