As soon as I got my driver's license, I immediately started driving a Subaru Impreza WRX STI. Three years later, I also bought a Porsche ... :-) It's been 10 years, and I also drive a Subaru and a Porsche, and I haven't changed these cars.

This actually hit a soft spot in my heart. Before my dad passed away, growing up I never really had a traditional father son relationship where we did things together. A lot of times we spoke very little to one another, we let our actions speak for us, but rarely ever had arguments, especially one like this commercial.
I imagine if we ever did, this would be a similar thing I would've done for him.

This is how I feel about my dad's F250, he's selling it this year, and it's the truck I grew up in. All the road trips and vacations and off-road stuff we did makes me miss it. It was my first drive, my first tow, and arguably my first love 😭.

10 years ago wow time flies
It took me over a year to get used to the throttle in the BRZ. But once I realized what Subaru wanted of the driver and why it's like this, it was a GAME CHANGER.
Basically, they wanted this car to be a "slow" city commuter with amazing fuel economy (for the era), hence the torque dip in the lower-middle of the rev range.
They ALSO wanted you to turn into a Formula 1 pro (and did their best to make you feel like it) when you hit a corner or a country road.
You need to keep the car screaming at 5000+ RPM floor it to 7400 out of a corner and then powershift up and then down every corner - sometimes two gears in 2 seconds! You MUST NOT try to floor the gas in 3rd at 4000 RPM. Do the work.
It's a car that forces you to learn to drive like a pro and rewards you with some of the rawest, most agile, and thrilling driving experience on the entire market.
Sadly, so many dumb people (like myself) and even reviewers try to drive it after getting out of a TDI or a Supra and then complain it doesn't pull.
Subaru, I understand now. I understand why they forced you to change the BRZ in 2021. Thank you for making it in the first place.

My first car was a beater Subaru that had a hole in the radiator and holes in the wheel wells because it had been used as a Arkansas mud Hopper illegally imported into California without the proper emissions paperwork. Two weeks after I drove that car The rusted steering wheel fell off and I replaced it with a socket wrench that I spot welded to the drive shaft and I drove it like that one handed until the California highway patrol stopped me one time because they thought I was driving without a steering wheel and the cop told me like I'm fucked if I can remember if there's a law against this or not but it just doesn't look good so I bought that car for $300 and I sold it for scrap a year later. That was when I was 19 and that was in 1985. I absolutely love this commercial because my father died 8 years ago and even though I'm 56 I still miss talking to him at the end of his life as he was pushing 70.
Could've been one of the greatest cars ever made, had it not been so underpowered.

That's a great commercial. The truth is that Subaru's are so good, they practically sell themselves. Bang for your buck is unmatched and they are reliable too. Well done Subaru.
This little advertisement made me appreciate the little things in life. You might understand how I arrived with this answer but this what I learnt from it.
