    Mia goth is a real actress who doesn't need to be in an mcu film and it would only do her a disservice.

      @@jugalo_deathcock7317 I'm so torn over that one. Mahershala Ali is a great actor and I think he'd be awesome as Blade, and I'd love to see him and Mia Goth share the screen. But Disney Marvel, and all the trouble that movie has had...I do not expect much. I kind of hope it dies so both of these talents won't have their names attached to some PoS MCU trash, but at the same time, I would happy to be wrong and have that Blade movie turn out, by some miracle, to be amazing.

      Yeah they tried that stunt with Dakota Johnson and Sydney Sweeney in Madam Web and we all saw how that turned out. Thankfully they were smart enough to side with the fans on how bad the movie was and move on to other projects like it never happened

    So “Pearl” remains the best of the Trilogy? I’m definitely going to see this one. I love the X trilogy.

  • @TheMorningMayhem
    @TheMorningMayhem Před 9 dny +8

    I loved X, I thought Pearl was okay, but I'm stoke to see MaXXXine! As far as being connected, Pearl was the old lady in X, and MaXXXine is the main character in X. These are all VERY directly connected. Glad to hear everything you said. Just watched Late Night With the Devil and loved the feel of it. Imagining MaXXXine will be very similar, set in the 80's, but with a bigger budget.

  • @shadergod
    @shadergod Před 9 dny +3

    They are directly connected all 3 of Mia Goth's characters connect the films. Pearl was also the killer in X and Maxine was the final girl from X.

    • @shadergod
      @shadergod Před 8 dny +1

      @@awkwardsilence4427 Well, in terms of the "in-universe" chronological order, it's Pearl (early 1900s), X (1970s) and then Maxxxine (1980s).

  • @orakaa

  • @SpideySensei72
    @SpideySensei72 Před 9 dny +2

    Go in with lowered expectations and you won't be that disappointed. The first half is pretty good, all the 80s references were cool [if you're old enough to remember them] and I'm pretty sure Ti West intentionally made "the killer" look just like the leader of the Heaven's Gate cult on purpose. This isn't really a horror film, more like a thriller with some horror elements. [Especially the alley way scene!]

  • @ConsoleLogEverything
    @ConsoleLogEverything Před 9 dny +1

    Ti West’s “House of the Devil” was also shot to be a faux 80’s film. It looks incredible. Must watch if you haven’t seen it!

  • @tyrannozilla
    @tyrannozilla Před 3 dny

    I Just came back from seeing Maxxxine and enjoyed it quite a bit. I actually watched "X" a few hours before seeing Maxxxine (haven't seen Pearl yet), so the story was fresh in my mind. I liked how Ti West combined the seriousness of the story with a little bit of dark satire thrown in, as a way to pay homage to the films he clearly took inspiration from.
    Side note: I just realized that Ti directed the film "House of The Devil." I remember hearing about that film back in the day, but never had the chance to see it. Well, now that I've seen X and Maxxxine, I'm more curious now.
    I also enjoyed how he edited the flashbacks to make them look like they were shot on either rough 1980s film stock or VHS. Much more creative than what we've been seeing in flashbacks in more recent films. I'd thought he tried to make the rest of the film look like it was shot in the 1980s, but it could've just been that he might've shot the film in 35mm.
    What I also liked was how Ti West wrote in the references to other films (the Bates Motel tour, for example). He didn't make it too blatant as to what he was paying homage to, as in he didn't talk down to the audience Rick and Morty style and have the characters constantly explain what they were referencing.
    Overall, it was a fun film and one of the better films I've seen this year (next to Lisa Frankenstein). I will definitely watch it again when I get the chance (along with the others).

    I wouldn’t say this is a horror. It’s more crime thriller. I think a lot of people go into this expecting horror and get let down because the movie is so different in tone to the first two.

      I wouldn’t recall X a horror either except for the horny naked grandma. I’m a big horror fan but that movie just really disappointed me. Never bothered with the rest of them. But I recognize they somehow found their modern audience, one that actually shows up repeatedly for their movies and makes em successful.

      @movies_are_life Před 9 dny +1

      @@lawrencetalbot8346 Yeah, it’s definitely more slasher than horror. The only scary aspect is the scenario is scary if it were real life, but it focuses more on the style of the movie than trying to develop scares.

      @@fredEVOIX Interesting observation actually.... I do know there are like "talent scouts" or whatever - guys who are in the business of getting young girls into modeling and such (this happened to a relative of mine, she was "scouted"), so it could simply be that the current guys who "run the show" behind the scenes just have particular physical taste in women. Like there would be nothing overtly malicious, and it could even be a subconscious thing, definitely not a conspiracy or anything like that. Makes me wonder if anyone has written at length about this... It could be the subject of some kind of sociologist's thesis, IDK

      Apart from the central character, everything seems so forced. Non of it was naturalistic.
      I know everything wants to be retro nowadays, getting the film grade right doesn't make a movie.
