Comparing the similarities between two Romance languages, Italian and Romanian. Italian is an official language in Italy, Switzerland, San Marino, Vatican City and western Istria (in Slovenia and Croatia). It is also widely spoken in Albania, Malta and Monaco. Romanian is spoken primarily in Romania and Moldova and is one of the official languages of the European Union. In this video we compare some of the similarities between the two languages.

You will find your silly beliefs shaken. And these are just a very small number of those who not only recognised that the territory inhabited by the Dacians was maybe 4 times the size of nowadays Romania, which includes Transylvania, but also that the Dacians are among (some even say THE) first people to establish in Europe. The writings from "Tartaria" date back to the 7th millennium BC! That's 2000 years earlier that the Sumerian ones. Not to mention the prehistoric civilisations of Turdas-Vinca (present day Romania and Serbia) and Cucuteni cultures. Inform yourself you frustrated moron! Mind your own business and country.

Latin language is the language spoken by Roman Empire people), The point is Romanian language is one of the 5th inheritors of Latin, along Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and French. So Romanian kept the declination in grammars which give a special type of plurals sometime just like in old Latin. I hope that helps. Cheers.

Linguists usually talk of Southern Italian varieties as being the closest. Not one in particular. There are many similarities with Neapolitan. In fact, Neapolitan can explain the schwas or the reduced plurals in -i in Romanian. Some Neapolitan varieties may explain certain sound changes in Romanian. Then some note a lot of almost similar expressions in Pugliese. This is not to diminish from the similarities with Sicilian.

garrafenc In Italy the languages are: Standard italian (the most spoken one, the official language) then there are the so called minority languages which are:
Sardinian in region Sardinia, Friulan in region Friuli, German in South Tyrol, French in Aosta Valley, Slovenian in Gorizia,
Ladin in Trentino-South tyrol, Veneto and Friuli, albanian and greek in some small enclaves in South Italy. All the other varieties are considered dialects and NOT languages! So Lombard, piedmontese, ligurian, venetian, tuscan, roman, neapolitan, sicilian, apulian and so on are dialects not languages!

This is a very wrong misconception people seem to think we are decendents but there is a lot more than meets the eye. The turks were in control much longer and we don't have Turkish base language, the Roman's conquered many parts of the world and never ever changed the language of the places they conquered and this is also true for romania. We already the dacians had a formed Latin language before the romans and after.

It's because in Romanian, the articles are in the word that is the object
In the case of the video, the word "casă" means literally "house", although, when we want to say "the house", that "ă" turns into an "a": "casa". This happens in all cases were the word is feminine and ends with -ă.
      For example
      Baiat: boy
      Baiatul: the boy
That "-ul" is used like the "the" in English (for masculine singular words)
In Romanian, there is even a word that end with "-iii", which is "copiii", meaning "the children, the kids", all because the articles, because the word without them would be "copil", "child, kid".

@Eusie Short The theory of Thracian origin of Latin has no proofs, no foundation...zero! It has the flavour of a ultra nationalistic huge bullshit. You forgot that Italy spans its history from from the Prehistory through the pre-Roman time, etc. Matera, in Basilicata, is the oldest still living town in the world! There are so many traces of pre-Roman civilisations and languages. The Osco language is just one of those examples. First of all, the Indo European populations DID NOT COME FROM THRACIA, but they came from furthers areas, somewhere between Asia and Europe. Secondly, any indoeuropean population who came to Italy, mixed its culture with the local populations of Italy. In Italy we have the "Uomo di Monte Poggiolo" which dates back 750.000 years ago. The "Uomo di Altamura", the site of "Isernia la Pineta" 650.000 years ago, etc. So, Italy has always been inhabited. The Romans conquered you, and not vice versa. Latin comes from Latium, and it is in Italy, not in Romania. Where are the concrete proofs of your theory? The Roman literature is huge, with endless works of art and authors. Horatius, Cicero, Plautus, etc.
WHERE IS THE THRACIAN LITERATURE AND AUTHORS? WHERE ARE THE CONCRETE PROOFS THAT LATIN COMES FROM THRACIA?
Concerning music: I absolutely do not know anything about the lady you mentioned me, neither about DJs.
I am a professional musician, so this is my filed. Italian music tradition is huge, music itself speaks Italian. I can cite you Vivaldi, Paganini, Verdi, Donizetti, etc. Plus the Neapolitan music tradition known all over the world, etc.
Can you please write here a Romanian musician as important as the musicians that I have mentioned you?

Romanian is the Romance language most similar to Vulgar Latin. Latin had the "tsi" sounds which have been lost in Italian but are still present in Romanian and written as "ț". But of course, Romanian suffered many linguistic influences because its geographical position so that might make it seem like the weirdo of the romance group.

BlueSwampyCraft Are you on drugs? Italian still has the “ts” sound from Latin! Pizza? Cazzo? Pazzo? Tazza? Zio? Zaino? All those Z’s in Italian are pronounced “tts”. And italian is actually the closest to latin. Romanian is actually the furthest away due to all the slavic influences. Ex: italian: bene latin: bene romanian: bine...ita: acqua lat: aqua rom: apa....ita: e lat: et rom: si
