Whistler Bike Park | Dirt Merchant to A-Line - Optimal Flow | 4k GoPro Hero 6 Followcam

- Dirt Merchant is a double black flow trail at the Whistler Bike Park that many consider the best flow trail in the park and some would say the entire world: mightier even than the enigmatic A-Line! This trail has many step-ups/downs/tables/gaps/drops/rollers all joined via massive swooping berms that even a seasoned pro would be happy to lap for an entire day. More often than not, a lap of Dirt Merchant is followed by Lower A-Line and A-Line Tech (as in this video) or Lower Canadian Open DH to complete the lap.

+BKXC effortless and smooth? I don't know about that Brian! Nevertheless it is much appreciated. The progression is beginning to show through (thank god!) Some day? Man you could be jumping smoother and more effortlessly sooner than you'd think! It's all just practice. Next time in Whistler ride Crank it Up all day for 2 days straight (I know this summer you spent a day but that second day is key!). At the end of that i reckon you'd have improved your ups by 200-300% easily. No problem at all. ;-) Keep the sick vids coming BKXC - huge long time fan!

This was best condition I'd seen Dirt Merchant in all summer. It was a beautiful thing tbh. All the berms were prime! If only they hadnt put in those rollers!

It's so great to follow your progression - not only as a rider but as an editor as well! I really appreciate the effort you put into experimenting with motion graphics, it looks great! You may want to try out tracking objects (works great in After Effects) - It's totally unnecessary but you could add a nice following effect to the name tag, as an example.
Did you cut the highs this time? They sounded a little muffled... but it worked great for the wind noise!
However, keep the quality up, I really enjoy your videos! Good to see you're back!
Its funny you mention that. I am interested in the SFX aspect of these videos as well and am trying to learn as much as I can on that front too. I spent some time yesterday learning how to use the rotoscoping and motion tracking functionality in After Effects. Very powerful stuff. In fact, I tried to incorporate rotoscoping it in this video, but I found that it couldn't keep up (or I couldn't get it to keep up) with the fast moving ever changing environment in this video. It might work well in a more technical riding focused video where the rider is travelling more slowly, but I couldn't pull it off in this one. I also suspect if a gimbal were used, it would be much easier for the computer to keep up to all the dynamic changes taking place. As per the @Aido_was_here layer in this clip, I tried to use the Motion Tracker on that as well but again found it was jumping a bit too much all over all the place again. Obviously a gimbal would greatly help in this department too.

I know! Its a long story - short version is that I moved from Asia back to Canada this summer and didn't have any of my computer gear with me (it was all in a shipping container) so it is only now that I have been able to begin looking at processing some of the footage I've amassed in the last bit. Plenty more where this came from that is for sure!!! Thanks for hanging on for so long!

Love watch your video. I bought Demo8-swork too just few months ago. Filming some with GoPRO4 and gimbal. So far I edit films by Quik on iPAD pro. but I saw you use Primiere. it’s so great. Therefore I start to survey NB or Macbook. May I ask your text and signs of video what sofrware you edit them?
Everything was done using the Adobe creative cloud software. Premiere, Photoshop, Illustrator and After Effects.

Thats the idea! Before I went there for the first time that is exactly what I did for weeks trying to get my head around all the trails and features. I found a lot of the footage to be lacking in one way or another so it was one of the reasons I decided to try my hand at trail edits to be honest. Many thanks for the support.
