Beer league goaltending though. No reason for that to go in.
6 wins for Chicago this season. 2 against Toronto, 1 against Pittsburgh, 1 against Vegas, 1 against Tampa, and one against Florida. They seem to play up or play down to their opponent but usually not enough. What I have noticed over the last 10 years is that we see very unpredictable results in games at Thanksgiving and Xmas- New Years. It is as if one team celebrated with family and the other could not. One practiced and the other did not. This is only one of the many surprising results today.
Another great hockey game. Loved the hat trick and the wining goal in OT.
Dickinson puts his pants on just like the rest of us - one leg at a time... the only difference is he scores hat tricks on weak Leaf goaltending.
Matthews is lazy and don’t make a effort to defend his side off the zone. Overrated and overpaid

Leaf fan here Steve, an’ I agree that it’s an embarrassing loss…. Up 3-1 in the third, in a game you’ve dominated, yet let the Hawks hang around. Leafs can’t protect a lead to save their lives. It’s always clenched a**holes right to the final buzzer as a Leaf fan.

I like that all leafs fans seems too blame it all on Samsonov, when their thrid and fourth line has too create the offense, and no one seems too deal with the defensive side. You could have had Vasilevski in goal and same result when the defense does nothing too help.
As a hawks fan and a swede it's nice too see that Arvid Söderblom is doing well, as well as can be expected on a team like the current hawks. Though every game is a learning experience and I hope it can become a tight knit team and getting into the playoffs again in the years to come.
If we changed goalies for this game, it was 7x1 for the Leafs
Sammy was not the problem that game. Some brutal turnovers behind their own net by the defence of the leafs leading to goals was the problem. Oh and can we look at the leafs record with reaves in the lineup. Let me tell you it’s not good. He scored this game but someone give Sheldon keefe a heads up before it’s too late. Kampf is constantly being paired with reaves and he looks like a lost child playing with him. There’s no chemistry there

It's so dang sweet every time the Leafs lose, especially when they had a commanding lead.
I feel so bad for Connor Bedard that he has no mentor support on the ice except for Corey Perry and he gets sidelined for no reason. Great job Connor on the assist. He totally did that on purpose then took all the Maple Leafs’ players along with him to create room for his teammates to get the rebound. Such a smart play!
He's doing fine without the so-called "mentor support" on the ice, even though he's gotten quite a bit of it from Nick Foligno.

McCabe was a liability and caused 2 goals. Samsonov looked slow and still asleep from the trip. The top lines were pointless but they got their $40mill.
Crazy the Hawks traded McCabe and Lafferty to the leafs for a 1st rounder. Lafferty was shipped out soon after and McCabe has looked shaky to say the least.
McCabe constantly does something which drives me nuts. he pinches up off the blue line, then back passes. who the F are you back passing to? you just pinched up, because the winger wasn't there. guess what? he isn't behind you either (not yet anyway)
and he constantly back passes into the slot from the corner in his own end. this time causing a goal. completely infuriating.
This isn't an elite team like Boston,Vegas and Colorado
NGL, I wanted Marner and Rielly both benched for ten minutes after their fourth or fifth giveaways, EACH!
The stats keepers say that Marner made zero giveaways, but we all saw him make at least three errand passes that ended up on the other teams' sticks. And Rielly killing momentum with those idiotic cross-ice/up-ice passes instead of making the safe play! Dumb rookie mistakes like these deserve an earful from the coach, and Keefe probably did nothing about it to these two because they're his favourite players.
Also, to all the Leafs...please, if you're going to skate by to block a shot, make the hell sure you block it because all you're doing is momentarily blocking the view of the goalie if you don't block that shot!

why are we acting like a 2 goal lead is a lot in NHL where teams can suddenly score 3 goals in a few minutes? I dont personally consider any game "over" unless some team has a 4+ goal lead on the other team or if there simply is not enough time left on clock anymore. Maybe in some other league 2 goals is a lot but not in NHL imo
I know the offence could have done more, but in this case, is it the Leafs that choked or is it Samsonov? If Caufield scored on his own goal, is it the Blackhawks' fault, or Caufield's?

I think McCabe forgot what team he was on with that blind pass into the slot in front of his own goal.
That’s how the leafs play, a lot of teams do that now, because teams pinch off the boards, so Keefe has them doing this put it in the middle crap. But other teams are countering this now so when a mistake is made it causes goals against.
It’s the same with the power play and he idiotic “bump back” pass that they’ve been doing for years, it’s why Kerfoot had that giveaway 2 yrs ago in the playoffs, it’s why they keep getting scored on short handed, or the power play does nothing, because they’re going backwards during the PP...

Leafs are currently in a wildcard, 2 points from not being in a playoff spot. Yes, they have a few games in hand, but it goes to show how competitive that division/conference is. Boston will take the division. We know what the Panthers are all about, and Tampa has Vasy back and a Kucherov that is on fire. Leafs will have to fight for 2nd or 3rd spot, or duke it out with all those other conference teams gunning for a wildcard spot. Isles, Flyers, Sabres, Habs, Detroit, and Pens will all want those wildcard spots, Leafs have just had a winning streak and are 2 points from being out. The point they missed against the Hawks looks a bit bigger than just a "game in November." The playoff push and urgency has to start now.

Leafs had hard luck. The first 2 Dickenson goals CAN’T happen. Samsonov was brutal on both. First one went through him under his arm, next one he couldn’t track the puck or stay tight to his post. Chicago’s goalie outplayed him by a country mile!

I thought Samsonov could have guarded to the post on the first two goals where there was enough room for Dickinson to get it past him. The overtime goal was a fluke - no fault there.
it was flukey, but sammy had more than enough time to recover and didn't come close to doing so
1st goal was terribly soft, 2nd goal he was sooo slow to react, puck was in the net before he even turned his head. 3rd goal was pretty weak too, but eh give em that, the guy shelfed it
