2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray is a very different sort of hybrid

  • It’s hard to imagine that anyone in the world was demanding a hybrid Corvette, but those crazy engineers at Chevrolet went and did it anyway. Meet the 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray, but if you’re already angry at the concept, you shouldn't be. This isn’t some efficiency play, the hybrid system is all about adding power and handling, creating the ultimate all-round, all-season ‘Vette.

Pikes Peak International Raceway was meant to be a new NASCAR track for Colorado located 1.5 hours south of Denver and about 20 minutes south of Colorado Springs. Sadly, it was deemed too far away from fans and drivers to get to by NASCAR. and thus never had a chance to thrive in NASCAR.

Did your test ERay have the ZER option?

Does it need to be charged externally or does the engine power a generator? Seems like for the hp and performance it might get decent gas milage around town? Didn't see the mpg.

There is no plug, it gets all of its charge from the front axel, either from re-gen braking or just putting the front axle into "negative power" mode. It gets the same combined MPG as the Stingray: 19 MPG, which is pretty good considering the 3.5-inch wider body and steamroller tires.

I would like to know how it handles when compared to an Acura Type-S. I am still torn between the two and can't decide which to get.

While I'm not a golf person, golf bags have been a standard for decades. for all cars, not corvettes

It's too bad Chevy didn't equip the Eray with torque vectoring.

It's called Corvette because in front it's a corrolla and in the back it's a vette

Chevy is smart introducing a hybrid power train slowly to the corvette. It will make the full EV transition smoother from a public perception standpoint

Money no object, put a procharger or magnacharger on this and have a great grand touring car.

It's PLENTY fast for a street GT car as it is. No need to further complicate it with an SC, even if money is no object, IMHO.

@@kevinbreese5739"PLENTY" fast is in the eye of the beholder. I guess we will have to agree to disagree.

@@johnh1932 I guess it's all relative but you said for it to become a great touring car. Personally I have a 550 rwhp C6 Z06, and an 800hp Whippled coyote as my fun street cars and they are both more than enough to have some fun on the street and are faster than any car around me 99.9% of the time. If you need 1000hp for a street car it starts to become more about bragging rights then fun and actual usable power. This E-Ray does a 10.4 1/4 mile as is and that's more than fast enough to be considered a "great grand touring car" for 99.9% of the public.

@@kevinbreese5739 Nope, not looking for 1000 HP. Just a little more juice than stock. The eray is a great recipe, but it could use a little pepper.

Because that wasn't a "cold start." That's the point of Stealth Mode (silence) in the ERay, but trust me... when the 6.2L V-8 starts up, you know it! Looking forward to getting my ERay very soon (in Production now), and there's nothing "heartbreaking" about it! 👍

A bargain in the performance world. If too expensive, it is not for you.
