    The new 2024 Corvette E-Ray is the quickest ever Corvette and the first ever AWD and electrified Corvette. With the new announcement, I have had many many people ask me if I would trade my new Z06 for an E-Ray, and having experienced both vehicles, I absolutely have an answer to this question!     E-Ray is nice, but the Z06 and the sweet LT6 engine is still on top IMO.

    Many people are either on a list for the Z06 that is many years long, or they never had the opportunity to get on a list. If GM can produce this car this year like they stated, then the E Ray will be a good option for those people. The Z06 is going to continue to struggle with CF parts supply for who knows how long. I'm number 5 on the list and have been for nearly 3 years, even when my turn comes up I probably won't be able to order the car with the Z07 package due to supply issues. It would be nice if you could do a review on how the Z07 pack drives on the street in regards to ride comfort and harshness.

    agree 100%. The E-Ray is amazing, and a great addition to the Corvette lineup. But the Z06 is the best corvette ever made, the dedication they put into producing the LT6 is phenomenal. will go down in history as a legendary corvette

    One thing about the E-ray that has my attention is the ability to cam it and give it some chop-chop. Should be enough gains there to give the Z06 something to chew on. What remains to be seen is how reliable the battery pack is and how much it's gonna cost to replace it. Perhaps after-market options will be available at that time. I'm leaning E-Ray. It's more practical and bumping the power up on the LT-2 is an easy tried and true option. Hell yeah, GM!

    20 years from now, the E-ray will be valued very low due to the battery and improvements made since then. Z06 will last forever. I expect they’ll never drop below $120k unless they make a bunch of them in future models

    You can’t go wrong with either, but long term, the Z06, especially a 23 with the Z07 package, will be highly sought after for years.

    With how close the performance and price are with the two models it basically comes down to do you want more comfort, economy and instant torque or do you want that 8500 rpm and exotic car sound.

      Fred that is it in a nutshell and as soon as the first guy takes his E Ray to Callaway the you know what will hit the fan! And upgraded electric motors are not difficult either. I think the engineering is done well enough the E Ray will be a lasting tribute to the Duntov crowd. And can you imagine a 48 State cruise in that E Ray, I might never go back home.

      @@DennisMurphey I'd like both, the Z06 is probably a better track car because of the weight advantage but for the drag strip and as a daily driver I'm guessing the E-Ray is top dog.

    I would wait. I would make sure they have all the bugs out of the car first and see what else may go wrong with E-Ray. First year of any new version of a model is a big NO in terms of purchasing. You never know what they got wrong with that vehicle being a completely new redesign, and a hybrid. So I would wait.

      @@EddieX Is it true you get 5 whole miles on the electric motor (going under 45 mph) before it has to recharge?
      If that's true you can save a ton driving through your city or town which is typically 35 mph or less.
      Then it only takes another 1 mile of driving to recharge the battery, you could save a ton of gas driving through town with these!

    No, you shouldn't. I think they are different vehicles for different vehicle enthusiasts. It's hard to say one is truly 'better' than the other because they fall into two separate categories. One is more like a Dodge Viper, the other more like an Aston Martin or a similar "luxury performance" brand. Both pretty damn amazing.
    But man I love the way that E-Ray sounds...

    E-ray engine same as a Silverado. You got the better car. No disrespect to Tahoe engine which I die for. But you got the bespoke engine. Like the ZR-1 engine for C4s.

    Z06, that’s why I’m keeping my 20 GT500. We will be looking at EVs in the future like how we are looking back on the plasma TVs

      Actually we will be looking at gas guzzlers like they were a horse and buggy. When the all electric comes out it will have 1,000 hp and awd and blow these relics back to the Stone Age.

    Awesome video, Eddie. I’m in the market for a new Corvette and am on the Z06 list at a local dealership. The E-Ray got me way more excited than I expected and this video really helped me with a lot of questions I had between the two models. I still have some thinking to do, but I feel much more equipped with this info. Thanks man!

      The truth is pretty simple eddie. The z06 will be limited and with that NA engine 670 will be the last for the natural asperated and im sure you know that. The z06 will be a true collector car and the eray WILL NOT BE PERIOD. Because of being electric and tech for electric hybrids/full electiric. Very simple , but if someone doesnt care about the losing value of the eray then its a great car

    I love that they are finally starting to dip their toes into it but it seems so short. Hate to have to replace a 1.9kw battery for who knows $7-8k at the least, when you could replace a whole 100kw plaid battery for $15k

    Great perspective and you came to the right conclusion. It's great that the C8 has options for some many use cases. If I lived in a different clime, had ready access to a track...Z06 all the way. But I don't and the e-Ray is perfect for where I'm going. And frankly, I'm really looking forward to seeing what they do with the all electric model...exciting time to be a car nut.

    Yes, definitely ERay, with same track performance hotlap as Z06 but with a lot more user-friendly everyday purposes. AWD, Snow, better traction, instant tq & power from electric motor, better fuel economy, better display, cost less, etc!
    Also higher performance easy upgrade electric motors for even More performance, soon to follow.
    ERay all the way, beats it hands down, especially for everyday use.

      Not sure how the E-Ray can have the same track performance as a Z06 when the Z06 has purpose-built and developed suspension and tires and can leave the E-Ray behind in the corners, especially once its little battery is drained and you take the two, three or more miles needed to re-charge the battery, if using the aggressive “Charge +” regen mode.

    I'm a 20/80 guy. 80% performance for 20% cost. I know it doesn't quite make the ratio - but that's why my money is on the base C8 StingRay..... Good enough is sometimes sufficient.....

    The ZR1 is going to be a Z06 with a Electric Motor and AWD. With the C8R Type Body Work. About 830hp or 870hp. (670 +160hp or 200hp Electric)

    Glad you want to keep your Z06. Yeah, The new soft close fronk is so cool. I won't rule out we can't retro fit the 2024 latch to our cars. After all I installed a Raptor Transfer case, CF shifter and console and paddle shift steering wheel in my Whipple Regular Cab F150.

    I have been on the list for a Z06 since Sep 2020, with my primary interest is getting back to driving at Road Atlanta. Although the E-Ray is impressive, the Z06 will be the better car for the track. Plus I am one of those center exhaust Corvette guys. I do not like the outside quad exhaust of the Stingray and feel the same about the E-Ray.

      No it isnt. It has been known for quite some time that it will have a twin turbo engine. There have been CAD images leaked for a long time.

    very easy to answer, if you want a amazing straight forward acceleration, a relatively modern hybrid engine and a good mpg with a supersports car? you must go for the E- Ray, but if you want a screaming V8 engine and a amazing track car? you must go for the ZO6. What do you want?

    The amount of “purists” I’ve seen online freaking out thinking the ERay is either an EV or a plug-in hybrid. You’d think Chevy didn’t still sell NA C8’s.
    I like the ERay, hope it sells well, but I’d take the Z06.

    I am in the eRay camp. Why? I will accelerate faster than almost anyone, including ZO6 drivers, but I will rarely hit 150 mph and get smoked by a ZO6. Also, the tech in the eRay is awesome. The stealth mode will come in handy and 4 wheel drive is another superior element of an everyday driver in NJ/NYC

    Yes - trade it if you aren’t going to regularly track it. faster all around in real world driving, will be more reliable with the LT2, will get more views for the channel, Unless you’re a 65yr old car collector, trade it up

    How long dl you think that Flat plane crank engine can last ??? I bet the regular C8 LT 1 and Eray LT2 engines last longer than FPC of Z06. So for collectors who like to keep their cars long beyond 20 years the FPC might not be a good choice

      The ZO6 is the great part. What’s not is the non Z07 will kind of look like a regular stingray without lots of carbon fiber pieces and the Z07 wheels.
      To make it more ordinary looking Is the choice of the burgundy old people’s color. All the 60’s plus people go with burgundy (red mist).

      I have a 70th anniversary not Z07 and I think it looks great. A lot of the difference in performance is likely in the tires . The downforce only comes into play at higher speed tracks. I likely won’t track this car much and it’s a convertible with CCB and some exposed carbon . In track mode it’s still a beast and I suspect it’ll do very well on the track. Love the Z07 but depends on what you’re using the car for. Rear wing a bit extreme for street ..

    Don't do it. GM made a mistake in making the E-Ray the same price as the Z06. It should have been in-between the Stingray and the Z06. The E-Ray will depreciate more. The sound of the Z06 is intoxicating!

    The e ray looks awesome. But the engine in the z06 is something very special and about to be very rare as EV takes over. Z06 will be valuable in the future.

    People are hyper focused on 0-60 now so it's not surprising that people will think the e ray is a better option than the Z06. I would pass on the e ray personally but acknowledge they are going to sell a ton of them due to the cheap price (compared to the Z06) and the relative performance.

      It's only $2,500.00 less than the Z06 and 0-60 is a much more practical stat than top speed in pretty much every country that doesn't have an autobahn.

    I think this hybrids electric portion should resemble the power and top speed of the gas engine. 160 ehp goes so fast with a heavy car giving it has a starting gear

    The price point is the same so its a no brainer. You buy a Z06. Because then you know you're getting the best handling vehicle. What does the Eray do that justifies that price point. Corvette is a sports car. So handling braking speed. The Z06 has that in spades. And ok 0-60 the Eray beats the Z06 but at that same price point there is just far more driving experience situations that really make it no comparison. Z06 period!

    I don't think calling it a C8 with more power should be said . The wide body looks significantly better and in someway the Eray arguably looks the best if your more into a classy exoytic design that stands on its own without wings and dive planes to look bad ass . Both looks are cool . But if your not a track person you really don't need all of that for street driving or the cost . The all season tires will save boat loads of money over cup tires that last 1-2 days of track use and make your car slow when not at temp or its moist .
    An E ray at a stoplight will dust the ZO6 9-10 out of 10 times and 10 out 10 when the conditions aren't perfect for sticky tires via the awd .
    The Eray suffers whatever it suffers from weight as the C8 is relatively heavy , Z06 more so and Eray is on par with American and Euro Gt cars that are very heavy these days .
    But the wide body is certainly a big step up from C8 . Stock carbon brakes which are expensive option , the giant tires , and depending on your eye the body matching which looks higher end to me and less plasticky and boy racer .
    It's all taste but having a classier option that still looks bad ass is great .
    All corvettes as well as many other cars are already way over powered for public roads and even though e ray is heavier and less nimble for many people the AWD including whatever eundersteer that will warn them they may be outside of their driving skills will protect them . Even if an AWD car isn't faster with a pro driver it at least feels and often is easier for regular people to push an awd car and maybe get saved ( although understeer can ruin you as well if you put too much confidence in AWD as a miracle aid and expect the car to save you ) .
    I would like to see regular drivers on courses meant to miimic street driving and see which car they can drive faster and return without poo in their pants .
    You are 100 giving up a very special engine for a less special engine and an electric motor which is not uncommon and that is the big rub for average person who isn't tearing up 3k + whatever other track fees and fuel costs you can spend in a weekend in a Z06 .
    WITH the brakes standard Eray is less expensive and 100 better as transportation that happens to be stupid . Z06 IS better at pure fun and stupidity while still being able to use as a car at times .
    Eray could EASILY be the only car you own and your daily driver . I have daily driven much less luxurious and comfortable corvettes as my only car and even drove them in winter even of carefully and they did better then some might expect with the Goodyears on a C5 for instance . Much better then my Firehawk TA With giant summer tires from factory that wouldn't even move on flat if any snow .
    I bet eray with all seasons drives fine on packed snow and will be drive able nearly every day of the year in NY for instance .

    I am on a list, along with everyone else. If I were to track, Z06. If not, E-Ray. I don't know when my number will come up, but I'm still not sure. 🤣 I've probably got close to 2 years still. Maybe a bit over a year?
    I'm guessing.

    If you're the type of person that like to track a car a lot, I would get the Z06, as the Z06 with the Z07 package IS a track focused car. With the Eray, it's not a track focused car, but you can track it if you want. Like the Grand Sport of prior years, the ERay is for those that want the performance of the Z06 with the daily drivability of the Stingray. For me, torque is king.

    Eddie I was about to barf when you started hyping the Egay..you finished strong on the Z06 at the end. The battery is to small, to tight and to hot where they stuck it. I have a 2Kw patriot solar charger. It's 12x12". The ERAY is going to lose horsepower charging and catching up. The motor is out of a Toyota Corolla hybrid. 160 hp is tiny. Without more power you'll get the wheels to turn but not for very long. We will see what happens. I afraid by allowing the use of the Z06 body it will destroy the Z06 market.

    Id take the E-Ray but I think they should have Modded the 6.2 motor. I think GM new they could make money if they used the 6.2 , But if lived in a warmer state Id take he Z06.

    Any comments on your ZO7 package without the carbon fiber wheels. That’s my spec. Can’t see street driving the CF wheels plus the 11K cost. Any regrets? Since you drove the press car with the CF wheels and own yours without… what’s your thoughts?

    Keep the Z06 but then again most CZcamsrs don’t keep their cars very long since they tend to keep up with the latest and greatest to keep their content relevant. I’d be surprised if you kept this if a Zr1 comes up or whatever is next for corvette. Either way I think you are in a spot that most wished to be in. Enjoy

      I’ve been trying to keep my cars a bit longer haha. The GT350R is approaching 3 years! I know there will be higher output variants but I love the pure NA aspect of the Z06

    Z06 by a long shot! I’m really not sure what the target market even is for the E-Ray. I’d take a normal Z51 Stingray over the E-Ray any day. More pure, much lighter, likely more reliable. No brainer!

      To each their own but as a guy who owns a C8 and a Tesla and as someone that lives in a northern climatic (Detroit) I’d much rather have the E Ray. I’m not a track guy either and not only is the ERay faster and less expensive it’s much more practical.

    $104k until the dealerships get ghost buyers to buy them, drive them for 300 miles, sell them back to the dealerships and resell them at a "market adjusted rate" of 15% above MSRP. When will Chevy learn🤦‍♂

    Keep z06...I'm skipping C8
    of its cheap 1990's ugly-looking rear...the huge license plate area, rear lenses, boomerang side air intakes and diffuser straight out of 1990.. the c8 front looks great. It's evidence GM Pontiac/ Camaro designers got promoted to C8 seniors design team

    GM can't produce enough of the Z06's now, why should they be able to produce enough E-Ray's? GM's current specialty is to introduce exciting new models and then fail miserably in their effort to produce the cars at a resonablea pace to waiting buyers. Don't want to sound fed up with this whole thing (been on waiting list since March 2020) but I am and I'm sure I have plenty of company..

    A real American man wants a real American car. A big block, naturally aspirated, fuel injected torque monster. I am a real American. A former U. S. Army Iron MP. A 22 year veteran CHP officer. Give me a 2023 Dodge Challenger Scat Pack 392. A 2023 Chrysler 300 C. Both will make Corvette drivers cry when they see the rear lights disappearing in the haze.
