So tired of people wanting something for nothing âčïž
Pay your debts, people!
Iâm only speaking about the PSLF program. Public servants whose loans were forgiven are not getting something for nothing. They have to meet the following criteria to get their loans forgiven: MUST make 120 on time payments (10 yrs of pymts) and work for a qualifying employer (federal/ state govât entity) for 10 yrs. First, if the public servant made any payments prior to 2007, those loan payments are not counted towards forgiveness.
Secondly, public servants who signed up for the 20 yr payment planâŠMathematically, if a public servant made on time loan payments for 10 yrs, their loan is technically paid. Any monies after 10 yrs of loan payments is the thousands of dollars of interest tacked onto the loan.
I could use a little Jadatude! BTW that first caller who makes three time my income is expecting me and you to pay her student loan. She took out the loan. She needs to pay it.

Can you pay my small business loan? Let me know asap.
She probably got the degree she did and the loan provisions she did based on the availability of this program. Why attitude towards her if those were the terms she took the loan out under?
Wow. First caller. Pay your own debt.,all of it. Itâs not everyone elseâs responsibility to pay for your education so you can make 100k plus. You chose the education. Youâre benefitting from the education. YOU pay for the education!
Amen!
Public service forgiveness implies that there is a public service, which benefits the community that pays taxes, just like public roads, etc.
New Genz mentality
I donât think âsomeâ ppl have a problem with paying their loans back, but if the govât is going to offer to pay off a loan that the person probably paid off years ago, but they still owe money on the loan bec theyâre paying back the thousands of dollars of interest⊠I say take what the govât is offering. If the âpublic servantâ workâŠ.their taxes are paying for these forgiven loans, too.
She paid by providing public service. So they make everyone apply annually for forgiveness regardless they are done with service or not. So that is why 97% not forgiven bc they didnt finish full term yet. Pslf is not biden thing. It was there long ago more than 10yrs. Biden offered another deal on top of the existing one.
Pay your own damned debt. You took out the loan, pay it.

Dave, when I was 22 I got four credit cards totaling $32,000 of credit and I maxed them all out partying and buying stupid shit. Now I'm 30, I have a good job, and I'm responsible. I regret my use of credit cards and feel really bad about it and I think now that I'm responsible, I shouldn't have to pay off that debt because I was young and didn't understand what I was doing! Can't like the government pay it since they get so much money from taxes all the time? đ Yeah no. Half that story is true, but I've been aggressively paying $36k of debt for the last 3 years and I'll be debt free by this January! I can't even imagine expecting anyone else to pay my debts, that's just wrong!
Listening here in Barbados, yes where Rihanna is from.
7:54 What Dave is saying is half true. Working at the Dept of Edu, I KNOW that the PSLF (Public Service Loan Forgiveness) program was put in place by the (George W.) Bush admin. Each presidential admin expanded and relaxed the rules of loan forgiveness program(s) bec Congress kept trying to spend the money put aside for the loan forgiveness program. The Biden admin relaxed the PSLF loan forgiveness rules even further and forgave A LOT of âpublic servantsâ student loans. Especially when the TEPSLF was out in 10/2021- 10/2022. I know several âpublic servantsâ who got their loans forgiven. One person got $157k forgiven. Dave and his staff keep mixing up the loan forgiveness programs. There are several forgiveness programs out there. They really should educate themselves on the programs. Not all of them are hogwash!
It was put in place by the Bush admin in 2007.
They are way too convoluted and it feels like they donât want to give the forgiveness. I have fulfilled the requirements for the teacher loan forgiveness and my application has been denied 7 times with little to no reasoning each time. Itâs all a game until I quit, because the government doesnât want to live up to their promises.
I received PSLF - I just followed the requirements and kept good records. It wasn't hard for me. The numbers are skewed by a lot of people trying to get forgiveness who don't qualify (ie some government jobs, etc)
I received PSLF December 2023 for all of my student loans of over $22,000. I wish they would stop passing off wrong information. My coworker also had over $95,000 forgiven. We are both State Workers for over 10 years.

I got student debt and I almost paid half. I am AGAINST student loan forgiveness for a few reasons.
1. It's my debt, not the taxpayers.
2. By them saying they'll pay it off means they don't believe I can do it. That takes away my pride. And not just pride.
3. Anybody that believes in should pay off or more the taxpayers should pay their debt needs to go to jail because that is stealing.

If you have 250k debt and only 65k yearly income. How can you ever pay off your debts and start becoming wealthy?
My question would be with student loans having a lower interest rate than mortgage wouldn't it be better to pay off the mortgage first?
Because when it comes to student loans they're not bankruptable. Meaning the IRS can literally physically come after your ass
And no... because the caller owes more on the mortgage than the damn student loans.. if you pay off the smaller debts first that's why he calls it the debt snowball, you'll end up paying off the rest of them faster. Paying for a rental property 100% in cash does not make sense. Thatâs one statement Dave did not address in the social media bit. 99% of people cannot save 100% of the purchase price of a rental property. It would take a lifetime to save that much in order to buy a rental property
So you just assumed 99% of people on this planet or even in the United States of America cannot afford to pay for a rental property in cash. That is an idiotic assumption to say the least. We're not living in 1931. Yes I realized times are tougher than they should be. However know your exaggerating
