Absolutely right - Kanami sings, she does this in all their instrumentals. They are all structured in a familar way and it makes them so easy to listen to. The interesting thing about her composing is that the songs with vocals also stand alone as songs when the vocals are removed. Giovanni is a case in point, there are 2 versions, with and without vocals and both are brilliant. When they released the scorebook for Unseen World, they included a disc with all songs as instrumentals and it stands up as an album in itself.

@edwardallen4051 "Giovanni" has got to be reacted to both with and without vocals. Then you'll start thinking you have to listen to instrumental versions of most of their songs. Obi-Wan Kanami is such a mad genius😂

Many of us recently saw Band-Maid play “From Now On” live. OMNG! Kanami riffed her ass off. And the DB’s matched the BPM’s! So FROM NOW ON, Band-Maid will grow in popularity even faster as they finish up their 2023 BAND-MAID 10TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR in the US (and Mexico!):
    DATE CITY VENUE
Aug 3 Chicago Lollapalooza After Show @ Park West
    Aug 4 Chicago, IL Lollapalooza
Aug 6 Minneapolis, MN Varsity Theater
    Aug 8 Denver, CO Summit
Aug 9 Salt Lake City, UT THE Depot
Aug 11 Portland, OR Crystal Ballroom
Aug 12 Spokane, WA Bing Crosby Theater
Aug 14 Sacramento, CA Ace of Spades
Aug 15 Anaheim, CA House of Blues Anaheim
Aug 18 Mexico City, MX PABELLÓN OESTE
In addition their recent Japan tour just concluded with 17 concerts, AND they’re writing and recording for their new album. Their 10th Anniversary Tour concludes at Japan’s 17,000 seat Yokohama Arena on Nov. 26, 2023!
The Maids are one of the hardest working super groups in the business! Their music, their sound, each of the Maids... and the love that permeates their live events is an experience not to be missed. Hope you can catch them LIVE! Thx Jeremy and Braden!

'Onset' is another instrumental that is a fully structured song that features the guitars as vocalist, and Kanami's finger tapping as the chorus. It is also one of the clearest views of MISA switching for picking to slapping. czcams.com/video/mVrN-j_Uc0U/video.html

If you want something different from Band Maid try Blooming. It definitely has a pop/punk vibe with some a touch of rap. It is a song where Sieke is spitting out so many words, it makes one wonder "when does Saike breath?" Or check out Band Maid's only rivals Band Maiko. Check out their cover of Band Maid's Secret My Lips, That they call Secret Maiko Lips. Many reactors do a Twofer. Secret My Lips and Secret Maiko Lips. As usual great job. Cheers.

  • @MusicMike747
    @MusicMike747 Před rokem +6

Yes, they’re happy and silly and playful, and they’re also dead serious rock stars.
I’m so impressed with your breakdown. You did it better than 90% of the other reactors I’ve seen.
Following the song structure, the melodic playing as vocals, the emotional power. And also noting the stark contrast between this composition and what other bands do for instrumentals. This wasn’t a “lookie what I can do” over the drums and bass playing the soulless backing track.
Band-Maid offer something unique in every song, while still sounding like themselves.
“Onset,” official live video is another instrumental; however, it tells an entirely different story. Maybe consider that for the future?
But, your Mötley Crüe logo made me think of “DICE.” I describe it as GnR meets Mötley Crüe meets Rush. Because the Maids play their style of hard rock with layers and complexity. And it’s still catchy as hell!
    Keep on rocking 🤘🏽

@@moshpitreactions Outside of festival sets, they do a mid-concert break for Saiki (the lead singer). this usually includes an instrumental, an MC/crowd interaction segment and song led by the rhythm guitarist and second vocalist, Miku. This give Saiki about a 15-20 minute break to rest her voice (she had issues with chord polyps). During short sets like festivals or opening for other bands where the audience may not necessarily know them, they come out swinging with this.

Don't forget the official LIVE video of "PLAY". This song started out as an instrumental but Saiki loved it so much she had Miku write lyrics for it so it being an instrumental got shelved. BUT, in this official LIVE video from 2020 Feb14th, the intro gives you an idea of where it was headed as an instrumental. You can find the video on their CZcams channel.

I've played in some jazz bands over the years and instrumentals were fairly common; some bands didn't have any vocalist and everything was instrumental. It seems like a form that's gotten forgotten over the years, but Kanami Tōno has the right idea. She really does supply the vocals, through her PRS and MESA. I'm looking forward to more content from you guys.

This comment is going to be Akane-centric. She is the finest female drummer I've ever seen and is more than a match for a lot of male drummers. Her nickname of "Gorilla" is well-deserved. She pounds those skins like they owe her money. For me, her greatest attribute is her work on fills. They are so good you don't even notice them until you have listened two or three times. She is fantastic, and in the mold of not only the great rock drummers, but the classic greats of the past like Gene Krupa, Buddy Rich, Jelly Roll Morton and Joe Morello. I don't know if you have heard it yet, but several years ago Jimmy Page was in Tokyo and went to see Band Maid. When it was over he sent a note backstage that he wanted to meet Akane. She thought she was getting pranked and didn't want to go out there, but Band Maid's personal press agent, Miku Kobato, lol, told her to go. Imagine the amazement when she saw Jimmy Page, and he told her she was the reincarnation of John Bonham. And there is photographic evidence. You could see Akane blushing in the photo. And the fact that she plays as well as as she does kind of hides her role as the band leader for BM. When Kanami finishes the musical composition she gives it to Akane, who gets together with Misa to set up the rythym section and then it goes back to Kanami for fine tuning and correlate the lyrics with Miku and Saiki. She does an awful lot of work from her throne. And if you are interested, there is an amazing young Japanese drummer whom looks and plays like Akane must have when she was young. Her name is Yoyoka Soma, she's 14 and has been playing the drums since she was 4 or 5, and there is video of her playing at the age of three. She's currently living in the US in Oakland to go to school. She has had her own CZcams channel since she was 5 and made tutorials for young drummers to learn from, and has made CD's of her drum covers. Professionals like Ian Paice, Carmine Appice, Jimmy Page and a host of others sing her praises. When she turned 12, she did a series of recording sessions with Japan's best session musicians and singers. Just put "Yoyoka's 12th Birthday Sessions" in the search bar and sit back and relax. You will not be disappointed.

Amazing talent in this group, top notch musicians. I would suggest 'Manners' for some good guitar work. "Puzzle" is a really different direction with a more Jazz/Blues injection and still wicked guitar work. @@moshpitreactions It's typically a festival (short set) opener. Saiki felt that it was a good way to grab peoples attention when they are often playing to an unfamiliar audience in that setting. It certainly worked at lollapalooza and then Saiki came on and soon had the audience in the palm of her hand. Otherwise From Now On, Onset and others are usually mid set combined with a Miku song to give Saiki a break.
