Yes they definitely played this song during their tour. I believe it was almost every show but just heard today that they left it off at the end of the tour as Kanami (lead guitar) was feeling a little "anemic" - and obviously this would be a drain on anyone to play. In San Diego it was toward the middle of the show and as great as the other tracks were, this one made the hair stand up on your body. It was just incredible and yes I do believe it's a song born and bred to be an opener. The ladies will always include a surprise for you - or go the extra mile in some way, sometimes in the background so you won't even notice it until you've listened to a song a lot. Other instrumentals include Onset (an earlier one), Without Holding Back (definitely check this one out) and Don't Be Long. That said, they've made instrumental versions of many of their songs that are so dense you can't even pick out everything that's happening until you hear the instrumental. Often they're included as videos in upgraded versions of albums. Giovanni is one of them and that song is crazy awesome with or without vocals. One more thing - for their album Unseen World you can buy the actual score to the whole album, and it comes with a wholly instrumental version of THE WHOLE ALBUM!!! This f'ing band!

They used From Now On as the opener during their shorter, festival sets. For their normal one-man shows, they played it in the middle of the show during the set designed to give Saiki a vocal rest (instrumental, Miku led song, Omajinai time). I caught them at San Diego as well. It sounded awesome live.

They did a US tour this fall and I believe they played this a couple times than. I know they played Miku's songs to give Saiki a break. Check out their Band-Maiko album. It's an outlier and to me it's some beautiful music because they've rearranged a few of the rock songs to include traditional Japanese instruments. I really like Tora and Tora. In that album they've also included songs that were specifically written for that kind of traditional thing.

@@PrymalChaos I love Japanese metal it is very creative. Vocaloid is the most creative. Have you heard any Vocaloid? This is The Fox's Wedding by Masa feat Hatsune Miku. czcams.com/video/QqfFieDY14E/video.html It's heavier than 99 percent of metal. Subtitles in CC. Vocaloid has every genre of music. Nearly.

They did a 14 show US tour in October and played "From Now On" in all but the last concert on November first. As you might imagine, "From Now On" is a strenuous piece, requiring total concentration, and even in the video you can tell that Kanami is fully involved. Heck! I have to remind myself to breathe while watching it! I watched a lot of the "Fan Cam" footage of the tour and Kanami went to her amp stack to rehydrate whenever Misa did her bass solo. It is being reported that Kanami was exhausted by the end of the tour. But then, so were Miku, Misa, Saiki, and Akane. Think about it: the first "big" tour in two and a half years (couldn't play due to lockdown) and to limit viral exposure they compress 14 concerts into one month. Play, travel, play,... no rest and their shows are pure energy start to finish. None of the shows disappointed despite being worn out by the end. At the last show in Chicago, Akane was wiping tears of joy from her eyes as they finished "Endless Story" and afterwards most of them were in tears backstage during their "group hug" photo op.

Kanami is using an Eventide H9 harmoniser on her guitar. Band-Maid have a few instrumentals (check out "Onset" live official video). Often they play them midset to give Saiki's voice a break (along with a Miku vocal song and her famous 'Magic Time' MC). They often play for two hours, no support bands, no encores.

I saw them in Dallas TX and they played this one #8, followed by two Miku-sung songs ("Rock in Me" and "Sayonakidori") and an MC break (where the crowd sang "Happy Birthday" to Miku). That gave Saiki a break of about 15 or 20 minutes. They opened their set at Aftershock with it, and it certainly drew in the bystanders.

Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛 and happy new year! I witnessed this song performed live flawlessly in B-M's pre-US concert in Tokyo and dropped my jaw 😲. I believe so did many of American audience at 12 venues. As you said, this instrumental piece has been also played in the middle of the setlist to give Saiki some break. Most of the audience at B-M's one-man (or one-person) concerts had, of course, already known their skills and talents. They played this song, however, as opening at three festivals (Download Japan / Summer Sonic, Japan and Aftershock, USA) and in Guns N' Roses concert in Japan as support to the legendary band. Yeah! they showed off their skills and talents to the audience who knew nothing about the girls in maid outfit on the stage. I felt as if I heard them screaming "Hey guys! They have 4 or 5 instrumentals over the years. Their first instrumental was only for use in their live shows. "Onset" did not have an MV and was originally not included on any album. Then an official live version was released on their CZcams. It became so popular... let's just say they decided to start making MV's of their instrumentals after that. Instrumentals also include "Without Holding Back" and "Don't be Long". Then there's the song "Play". It was originally slated and performed as an instrumental, but Saiki (lead singer) enjoyed it so much she convinced Miku (rhythm guitar/backing vocals) to add words for her to sing... so it became the song "Play"

I believe that Band-Maid played this song at all of their US shows. In a few shows they played this song and their instrumental called Onset back to back. They would also play at least one song with Miku as the sole vocalist. These songs would be mid-set to give Saiki a 2 or 3 song break. I saw Band-Maid in Dallas where they played this song (it was fantastic) and, because it was her birthday, two Miku songs - Rock In Me and Sayonakidori.
It has been a long while since you have experienced Lovebites. They have a new bassist, Fami, and have released a new single called Judgment Day from their upcoming album of the same name. The new album is less than two months away. Judgment Day - czcams.com/video/m3uGjp-P7DI/video.html

There's also Memories of Wind and Wine, but that's a cover they were invited to do. They are all fantastic and there's an official live version of onset.
You asked whether they play this live. They have used it as a opener several times, including at the Aftershock festival and when they supported Guns N Roses. Whether as an opener or not, they played it every show except one on their recent US tour. Their lead vocalist Saiki has had surgery in the past (I read for polyps) because of straining her voice too much and playing too many shows (they cracked 100 shows in 2016). I believe the surgery was in 2017 or 2018. So they have been using instrumentals and Miku-lead songs to give her voice a rest for a while (some fans call it unceremoniously a "pee-break"). They typically also do the longest Miku MC around that time (they actually do a couple of MC's in a set).
They toured the US last October and played it during 13 of the 14 shows from what I can see on a setlist site. They opened with Sense on all but 1 show. That song was written for an anime and has a big intro as well.

Destrose was a pioneering Japanese all girl metal band that never saw commercial success and suffered constant membership changes, it did spawn about a dozen bands and a handful of solo acts (though most are not active). Lonesome_Blue and Lovebites have both worked with Mao who is a freelance keyboardest/composer (he has worked on all Lovebites albums); Asami (the singer for Lovebites) has also written some English language lyrics for Lonesome_Blue. This little composition is better than behind gifted an ice-cold handmade caipirinha on a hot summer evening after a long day at work. Here is an interesting observation I have made after their US tour since I went back and saw both reactions and fan-cam videos: The Venn diagram between people who gets Band-Maid and who gets Aurora must be the strangest one in music history. (We know Aurora is a metal fan, but still).
And I think you are right about Band-Maid. They start off with wonderful compositions - and raise the bar with their musicality and technicality. And I think this is why I think there is this weird Venn-diagram overlap - Aurora also composes and arranges with wonderful and fresh and surprising ideas sprinkled everywhere on top of underlying melodic brilliance. Also, they both are absolute harmonic geniuses within the two genres they define themselves without asking anyone about the regulations from the gatekeepers.
They also both (as entities) have this sensational feel for "space". Like here with MISA stopping everything while rolling down her neck or the 3 single notes of a Piano-track at the end. I think this comes from their harmonic sensibilities. Because Aurora too uses a lot of call-and-response sections in her music (most famously between herself and Silja Sol - but there is also a lot of it going on instrumentally (like reversed patterns going on between lead and bass instruments)
I thought I should share this observation with you - since we both share a parking spot in the same section of the Venn diagram with lots of others between a Norse wood elf and the hardest-kicking and freshest live band on the planet right now. (That they all are females - that is as coincidental as them being in different genres).
A final thought after having listened to this - can you imagine Kanami and Aurora co-writing a rock anthem? Just to test how good "Where the Streets Have no Name" "Bohemian Rhapsody" "Purple Rain" or "Smells like teen spirit" (etc) really are? They even behave similarly off-stage/in interviews. It could easily have become the weirdest and most wonderful collab since Metallica and Lou Reed teamed up.
Hey - if Band-Maid makes it over to the European festival season - here is a wish list. Kanami and Aurora rearrange a small set of Aurora's most rocky songs (Running with the wolves, Churchyard, Under the water etc) with Band-Maid as the backing band). And then Aurora enters as a guest with Band-Maid where she does another of her "stripped" arrangements like she did for "Life on Mars" by Bowie or Teardrop (Massive Attack) or...
I would have gone mad since I would realize that I had done a Lionel Messi (who recently completed the game called football) - this would be very close to completing the art of music. At least I would spend my final years as a very happy insane person.
Heck - Aurora is touring Australia, New Zealand (and parts of SE Asia?) this winter. Imagine Band-Maid open for her? I know it sounds insane, but then - it is not really from a musical perspective (of for the musical sensibilities of both "entities" mentioned). The only reason to cancel such an idea is the fact that nobody deserves that much goodness in a single evening.
I pick up my coat before quietly leaving the room now (It is still a very young year - an old boy can dream 👍)

I am truly thankful to be part of that Venn Diagram. In fact, it never would have happened were it not for my channel. I was at a point where I felt disconnected from music. I had played music my whole life and had been around plenty of diverse music. But I had my favourites and didn’t seem to have energy to discover more. Then one fateful day I decided to look deeper into metalcore stuff and I figured I’d record it.
Nearly 250 videos later and I have discovered so many amazing acts from around the world and many awesome communities of like minded fans that will fill me in on all the music that they are passionate about. It’s been an amazingly fruitful and educational experience these last 12 months.
On another note, I’m seeing Aurora at the Sydney Opera House. I’ll let you know if there are any unscheduled appearances at the show. 😜

    Kanami's Gear
    Guitars
PRS Custom 24 (Purple) Mahogany Body - I have tried other guitars as well. Among those I’ve tried, PRS was the perfect guitar for my image of BAND-MAID songs.
PRS Custom 24 (Green) Korina Body
    Amps
    Mesa/Boogie Triple Rectifier
    4×12 Recto Standard cabinet
Effects - When I compose, I don’t think much about the effects. I use it to enhance the songs I've already written live.
Here are the typical settings of my pedalboard:
Delay: Free The Tone FT-2Y, Eventide TimeFactor - I prefer using Digital Delay on the TimeFactor and on the H9, I use Spring Reverb. I use Free The Tone FT-2Y in a series circuit because it adds delays to a set tempo. TimeFactor is used to connect sends and return effects to clean and solo channels. On the other hand, I use H9 only for songs that use reverb. Currently, I only use it for reverb, but I would like to try more algorithms in the future.
Reverb: Eventide H9 - I am a big fan of Eventide's so I want to keep using it forever!
    Volume: Shin’s Music Perfect Volume
Drive: One Control Strawberry Red Overdrive, Fulltone Obsessive Compulsive Drive Overdrive Distortion - I use the boost pedal to add more gloss and deepness in the clean channel or to amplify the sound of the solo or riff.
    Booster: Friedman Buxom Boost
    Compressor: Pete Cornish OC-1
Noise Reduction: ISP Technologies Decimator II
Wah: Morley Steve Vai Bad Horsie 2
    Octave: Digitech Drop

They used this as an opener at the festivals they played in Japan prior to their US tour (mid set in halls) and as an opener at Aftershock on their first US tour date. It was then in mid set for all their other US shows bar one when they had to drop it as Kanami was feeling the strain healthwise. On completion of the US tour they flew back to Japan and played support for GunsNRoses at the Saitama Super arena when it was their opener. Fancams are around of this song for pretty much all of the aforementioned shows.

I just looked through your videos and it looks like you haven't reacted to Play Live or Real Existence Live. Both are high energy Band Maid at their best. Play was played right before Domination (the live video you reacted to) and is very interesting compositionally with great crowd interaction.

G'day mate. As mentioned by others, they opened with this track at the Aftershock festival in California, playing in 37C heat. Here's a video - the sound is a bit thin, recorded on a mobile phone, but you can hear how well they replicate the studio recording.

If the Maids ever make it here to Aus, seeing their live show is high on my bucket list.
btw, as you're on the Japanese band wagon again, Lovebites are back from hiatus, with a new bass player, and recently dropped a new track, Judgement Day. This is also the title track of the new album, to be released 22nd Feb. The Wolfpack are excited! It would be great if you could check it out.
    Cheers from Sydney.

Asterism are exceptional, considering their age. That a band in their mid-teens could be that good when they first came to notice is incredible. With Bootsie Collins adding some spoken vocals to a couple of tracks ('Blaze' and, especially, 'Warning') on 'Ignition' (their first album) I actually thought Jimi Hendrix and the Experience had regrouped. They've the same guitar, bass and drum threesome as well.

I've probably watched 100s of Band-Maid reactions by musicians. Though I can hardly play a kazoo, I've learned a lot about the technical aspects of how they play their songs. Still, I do believe your reactions are a fresh perspective that is detailed, but not so far over my head, I'm left looking more like the RCA dog. If you want to get a serious perspective of their diversity, listen to "My Secret Lips" and THEN listen to Band-Maiko's "My Secret Maiko Lips". I won't go into the what and why of Band-Maiko. You should discover that on your own. There's also an acoustic session they did on Christmas in 2021. Well worth looking into. Probably my all time favorite Band-Maid song is the live acoustic version of "Puzzle". There's also studio and live (non-acoustic) versions of "Puzzle", but neither one has the weight of the live acoustic version with just Saiki and Kanami. Kanami's harmonies are breath-taking. If you read the translation of the lyrics first and then watch the live acoustic version, it will almost bring you to tears.
