I am a violinist without a teacher...
I am visually impaired person so I cannot read to sheet music...
When I got my violin, it had the sad "Celtic/Gypsy" sound. I haven't been able to find the correct string type and brand to reproduce the same sound. I am frustrated and sometimes just don't play because I hate the "bright" sound. Can you help.
What sort of sound are you actually looking for?

Slurs should not have an impact on timing, so something else is going on here from the sounds of it...
When I play slurs I think my fingers are to fast and have been unsuccessful with making them sound nice and or as if they are even supposed to be there
