    Nice video! I really like to see the circular economy here. Others maybe put the machine in the bin, but if it's still working let's use it.

      Some of the best technology is what the pioneers invented before us!

      @@solarbrianyvonne LOL! Seriously though, we are in a humid environment! Culturally, a press wheel drill works well here (winter wheat/spring oats country). If we hoed the small grains in with our heavy soil, we most likely would have emergence issues!

    Good morning!
    That's a big seeddrill. I've only used I think it was 10 or 12 feet wide and that was a LOT of years ago.

      its as big as I need although I only farm 160 acres... other farmers would not use it as they have 6-10 thousand acres, it would take them too long to seed the crops.
      thanks for the sub

    Great job. Learned a lot. Love that the seeder removes the weeds when planting. How do you remove the weeds during the rest of the growing and harvesting season?

    • @solarbrianyvonne
      @solarbrianyvonne  Před 4 lety +1

      Hi Marcell , thanks for your question. The rest of the growing season you have to let the weeds grow with the crop , it cuts down on your production because the weeds are competing with whatever you are trying to grow , but this machine gives the crop a good head start .

      Hi Roots farm ! very easy to grow, wheat needs about 100 days of heat/ sunshine. Plant about 1 inch under the soil, water weekly and it will emerge in about 2 weeks. pokes out of the ground looking like grass, 90 days later it can be harvested by as simple as rubbing the wheat heads between your two hands to remove the chaff. Can be done in a greenhouse does require full sun to mature. If the grain is dry it can be stored for years in a cool dry location, canning jar that sort of thing.

    These informational videos are great! your crops are very impressive,
    I am interested in your fertility program being that your organic. are you doing cover crops, animal manure, ect?

      Hi Sean , The Land hasn't been chemically fertilised in over 20 years.... straw is always turned back into the soil after the harvest with cultivation, and every third year I let the land rest and summer fallow, I get pretty aggressive and go hard after those nasty weeds . I have tried things like clover as a cover crop but not with any real ahaaa moments of success. We do get lots of wild mustard growing, I harvest it with the wheat too and clean it out, I use it to either heat my shop for free all winter long in a grain burning furnace or you can crush it to oil and with a small conversion kit you can burn it straight in your tractor.... ( smells like french fries when you drive LOL ) So by not spraying I get a decent crop organic wheat to sell at 2x the price and get free heat and bio-fuel. I think its a pretty good trad-off!

      @@solarbrianyvonne you seem to have good results i would have guessed a much more complicated or input based program but if it works keep it simple! ive never seen a grain burning furnace that is a smart idea where grain is abundant. and a small scale oil press is something that intrigued me ive always wondered cost effectiveness.
