Lots of upgraders skip generations, so nice that Paul includes 1080Ti and 1070 in his results, this is what the people want to see.

@Baby Maker I think that account has to do with vote fraud being implemented by Russia. I'm not saying they are faking votes, I'm saying they are faking American opposition towards the disposal of the current President. The Russians have been doing it for decades, but everyone highlighted it this past election.
Thank you Paul for including the 1070. That is my current card and I'd love to see what will I gain for going for anything above my current.
3070 is an excellent upgrade for a 1070
Mine is a 1070ti

@@wiredWhiz27 same here. I hate how so many other benchmarks have only compared to 3070 to the 3080 and 2080ti.

@Marcos Alvarenga it really depends on your needs. Personally I like VR and my 1070ti really struggles with some games
Thank you Paul for all the work this video probably took to make. Thank you for including the older cards! Thanks also for narrating the benchmarks so I could listen to the video without having to stare at my phone during work!
I love how you covered such a wide breath of cards . some other benchmarks are only looking at 3070 vs 3080 and 2080ti , but its really helpful for someone like me who is still on a Pascal GPU to see how they stack up
Always thinking about the little guy Paul adding in certain cards and making those changes people asked for and as usual straight to the point, no fluff.

IMO The move has always been to wait to see what AMD has to offer. I am more of a value shopper as opposed to needing that extra few FPS. I’m not playing anything at a level that I would benefit from having the extra performance.
This year seems to be the best year to wait and see what is going to happen. I expect anything AMD does Nvidia will try to put something out to counter(if you want to stick with nvidia). Personally I think for the first time I might go AMD/ATI if they have a half decent competitor to the 3070/80 that doesn't get all bought up by miners
ive been patiently waiting as well. my 2600x and rx580 have been serving me well for the games I play.
But i cant crank them to max just yet.
@@A_Burly_Gnoll AMD are releasing mining versions of the 5700 so that should help in that regard.
Probably the majority of folks reading and watching Paul’s channel fit that opinion. He always has a common sense approach to these things. As I get older(wiser...),I am more about low heat/more efficient GPU/CPU’ for personal builds.A Ryzen 6/8 core APU would be the height of my ambitions these days.

Paul, thank you for including so many different cards. I'm sure it's a pain to get that much data together. In a follow-up video can we see it compared to the various 2070's (super, ti, etc., etc.), please?
It was nice to see that the performance is greater than the 2080 & close to 2080 ti. However, I would like to see how much of a improvement was made from one generation to the next. (I'm also hoping that this is mostly data you have saved somewhere & wont need to do a lot of extra bench-marking.)
Thanks for doing what you do Paul!
I'm glad you include MSFS 2020 benchmarks since my new PC build will revolve around that sim.
Hardware unboxed also always includes that title as a benchmark.
4pm in Saudi and getting to watch this at the end of the work day. Thanks Paul!
Thanks for including the 1070 and 1080p benchmarks. Looks like going up to a 3070 is he move. A little over double the performance.
1080p@144 is my use case so thanks for including those
*Pats his 1080 ti* I'll be sticking with my good old reliable card:P
Yeah, I'm glad I stuck with my 1080 Ti. I skipped the 20 series and will probably skip the 30 series too.

Unbeatable? It was at the bottom of nearly all the benchmarks, it's pretty old these days.
@@TC-tn9tb it at the bottom of the high end cards. It’s still a good card.
yep 1080ti on water still gives me my monitor refresh rate or higher in all the games im playing @1440p so unless navi kicks ass for good money im staying with pascal another year.. dont care about ray tracing either unless that makes leaps and bounds with tsmc on the 30 series 'refresh' that seems inevitable.
3070 at 1080p for price is insane. I cannot wait to get mine.
Suggest getting a 144hz 1440p monitor since it's a huge upgrade and the 3070 will be pretty good for it, they're pretty expensive tho
If your only gaming at 1080p your not gonna see much gain considering 1080p is more CPU dependent and not hard on your gpu. 1440p and 4k is where your gonna see the gains.

I'm thinking sometime next Spring, I'll see what shakes out before upgrading my aging GTX 1080. The RTX 3070 seems like a solid upgrade for less than then nose bleed pricing of the RTX 3080/3090. In the meantime, my new PS5 will be a distraction.
I'm waiting on those Big Navi benchmarks.
I'm definitely going to be trying to get one the second I can. I am also running 550w power supply on a b450 itx motherboard so I'm hoping to make some reviews since I finally have the opportunity if I get my hands on it. Will be making a tech channel if I do!
I did it! Stayed up all night monitoring the sites and managed to snag a 3070 from Newegg.ca this morning in the first few seconds. After a minute everything was gone on all the Canadian sites I had pulled up except for a 2 fan Asus model that nobody appeared to want. I considered buying it just to sell on EBAY but after 30 years working at Ticketmaster trying to thwart scalpers, I couldn't bring myself to become one. Well I was at it I grabbed all the rest of the parts for my new dream build that will even kinda match my tatoo. I love dragons:)

Any advice on maintenance for an AIO, so I don't have another one blow up?
The sponsored sticks of dram look very nice. Good to see that RGB hasn’t taken over every piece of hardware lol. As a 2080 TI owner and who prefers to play on my 4k tv with xbox controller this benchmark puts my mind at ease. The higher the resolution the more ram matters, and those 3 GB more really make a difference. Thanks for the review!
There are barely any games that utilize more then 8GB VRAM, even in 4k.

Glad to see the little ol 2080 non-super repped here. I run that and always saddened when it's not included in testing anymore.
Managed to get a FE from Scan (UK) this morning. I have never clicked refresh so much in my life. Might have to sell it next year when refresh cards with more vram come out though.... Don't know how long it will last in modern titles at 1440p
I'm considering trying to get one of these. Not sure yet though. The performance is impressive for the price and wattage but I really don't know if I want to deal with the hassle.
Just scored an MSI RTX 3070 Ventus OC 2x a few hours ago on Newegg and I'm very curious to see how it compares to the FE. Probably around the same performance, but fricking pumped to upgrade my Vega 56!
As a GTX 1070 current owner, I appreciate you including it in your benchmarks and hope you will include it in the future AMD GPU comparisons. I just might go ahead and try to get a 3070 if I can get one, unless AMD really blows it out of the water price/performance wise. FYI I play games on an AOC Ultrawide 3440 x 1440 x 144hz monitor and really need a GPU upgrade!
In that high resolution you should really think of an 3080 instead. The higher the resolution, the bigger the gap is between the 3070 and 3080. The 3080 has up to 40% more performance in 4k then the 3070, for only $200 more.
Hi Paul, appreciate you including the 5700xt as well! Based on these improvements and inclusion of RTX, would this be a worthwhile upgrade?
Edit, is a 25% performance increase so most likely (not?) worth it. Not sure if RTX and that would be, interested to see what the future holds

Great job and thanks for the 1440p numbers. I'm waiting on big navi, but my brother has a Gsync 1440p and can't get a 3080 and plans on snagging a 3070 if possible instead.
Your brother should wait for a 3080 instead.
The 3080 is about 20% to 40% faster, and that is definitely worth paying $200 more.

So question how would this stack up to a gtx 1080? I'm thinking about getting this since it has ray tracing and is affordable since the 3080 is to far out of my budget. I also play at 1440p any advice is appreciated.
Typically newer technology is better. So I would recommend a rtx 2060 super instead, for just $50 more. And it has 8GB VRAM, that's enouph for 1440p.
I have a 1080, was figuring on getting a 3080 but the 3070 is tempting but I'm not sure if it's a big enough jump. Luckily in my country the 3080 never went out of stock so I have options for either.
Well i went from a 1660ti to a 2080ti for $600 and i still have my 1660ti for a second build, along with a case mobo cpu and psu i almost have another pc. I decided to skip the 30 series and my friend sold me his monster EVGA FTW3 that he only used a couple times. With the box and warranty left on it looking brand new with the LED in the front i thought it was worth the $600 with it being $1300-1600 on the market.
Just got my hands on a Windforce 3070, love it, as my windforce 980ti is showing its age now.
i have a feeling the availability of of these cards in intentional so that consumers might just break down and by older cards, old inventory gets sold, people will still upgrade later once the 30 series cards are actually available. if AMD actually as cards available on launch i think im going to be switching to a full amd build. they are really killing it
I have no plans to upgrade for a while, so I'm just here to see how far down the stack I am with my 5700 XT :)

Does availability matter when you plan to buy a card 1 year after release, only if you plan to buy it from scalpers or wait on outside the store for them it might matter. But without a doubt 3070 is worth a lot with the performance/price while 2080 ti used has become less than 500 usd to be sold even with availability since they come with no warranty and same performance numbers + higher power consumption.

Paul, appreciate the thorough review. For the money, the RTX 3070 looks like a winner. As you said, availability and AMD's offerings will be the biggest factors with this launch.
