That's really cool! We have a guy, that attends a gathering near by. He has a steam driven, table top bailer. He sells the tiny 5x7 inch straw bales, for $5 each
If the grass is a bit wet yet, do like we do on the farm and salt it. Sprinkle some salt in while you are loading and a bit over the bale when done. I do remember as a teen my dad showing me that trick. I worked on another farm and the farmer when on vacation, leaving his newly son-in-law in charge and to bale second cutting in July, well it ended up raining and the hay got wet. I told him to wait a day or two longer and go out and roll the windrows. But I was just some dumb teenager farm hand. We ended up putting up about 1000 or 1200 bales and I told him we better salt it! Of course I got the look of what are you crazy as he said he never heard of that before. I said hope you don't burn the barn down! I called Joe who he, the wife and a couple of their kids had gone to Cancun Mexico and told him what his golden child son-in-law did and he said WHAT? The weekend came and I'm out with my friends on our atv's when my dad came and found us and said get back to the house and call Joe. When I did, he said get here fast and bring my friends as the barn was about to go up in flames! 15 mins later we got there and the steam was pouring out of the barn like a sauna. It was HOT! We were trying to get all of the equipment out and finally you could smell smoke. It got to hot to get everything out and the fire dept was on the way. Meanwhile Joe had his dip shit son-in-law with a few other neighbors using some tractors and skid steers to pull the wet hay out and spread it out. Thankfully he didn't keep any livestock in that barn... just hay, straw and equipment. Yep, it went up in flames! Despite the fire dept got there quick and sprayed water on the sides, roof and shooting it inside here and there, the core was just to hot and hard to get to the center, which is why the barn and everything in it was a total loss.
onelonleyfarmer Now that's interesting. However the ones I saw I googled as "Decorative Mini Bales" City folk will buy anything, hell there's people who subscribe to The Enquirer.
onelonleyfarmer Glad you made it back from Maine all in one piece, when's the vids on the new tractor and did you get any bugs in your teeth while driving the rat rod?
I wonder if there are any bailers much smaller than this. I like to get my rabbits really small hay cubes, but I wish I could find one tiny enough to make them with their scraps. Also, you totally sound like Hank Hill! Awesome!
If you framed it out of steel and used a hydraulic cylinder to push it you could make a pretty solid aluminum building block. Just use the pump on a log splitter to power it.
I have built one myself but it needs improvement. I would love to see how your plunger is built and stablized and what kind of knot you use. thanks steve the farmer
GLBoca It was good, didn't vehicle didn't get broke into like one time, vehicle didn't get key'd like one time, so wasn't bad. Camping area was nice (thanks for the suggestions) and the concert was good.
Howdie they say if ya cut hay with lawnmower your rabbits will die cause of the heat that the blade throws off it molds the Hay and rabbits happy later bleed red pea its true in Canada 🇨🇦 SK so l,ve been told great idea but wood not cut it this way l use weedwacker to cut my hay grass what ever and so far they have not died just saying thks again for sharing your project with us keep them coming ya got
Don't have rabbits, never had rabbits, quite probably never will have rabbits so I'm not sure. Guess I'll leave that up to the rabbit folks but I will say if you let grass dry properly like hay that's cut with the same kind of blade it probably has no chance of growing any mold, unless stored improperly. (Don't have the baler any more either, a rabbit person has it now.)
Not sure what the box is called other than a small baler, I made it myself after seeing another video of one like it. This was just what I came up with after some experimentation. I have a link for another one of my video's in the comments where I talk more about the construction.
you could sell that to people who have miniature pigs and and miniature goats and people who have rabbit Farms you can make a killing with that damn good idea
I made one that has some measurements. I pretty much just made this one up from watching other videos. It's mostly what size of bale do you want to make.
@@bc65925 same here! I just got into cutting hay by hand and bailing at by hand and I'm looking for something easier. I'm looking to make something like this but a little bigger to make small bales of hay for my goats. I had the idea of taking an old hydraulic log splitter and doing something like this
I know, I was plat on making one and selling bales in my spare time. Some as hay, some straw. Either as decor or for people who maybe have rabbits, hamsters, or other animals that are tiny that need straw or eat hay. I mean the local hobby lobby sells mini staw bales for $20. I don't see why I wouldn't be able to sell them just a tad smaller...but realistically the same size because more compact for maybe $5-10
I just saw this video and would like to build one as I have 3 acres of grass that I mow weekly. You said to contact you if someone wanted to build one so I am trying to contact you!!! Thanks!!
I don't have any plans, however I did make another vid that has a bunch of the measurements so that one can be built pretty easy. czcams.com/video/srZMOCDpG_g/video.html
That is awesome, I need one for the 1/8 scale cattle car we are getting ready for the rails. Thank You Wayne.
I like your mower Pretty cool bailer set up never seen it done before. Thanks for the post
67kneil That mower has been great. It's not one of the disposable ones and my first self propelled. I had no idea how easy a push mower could be.

thanks for the info. i have found it very useful.
Pretty cool. Anyway I can have the plans on how to build one for me.
Really don't have plans, however there's another video where I show some measurements. It's a pretty simple build.
@@bc65925 Ok. Under what is the video
Good project for crafting! I thought you were baling HUGE bales tho lol
Thanks for the information and I just couldn’t help myself you sort of sound like hank Hill from king of the hill
Cool
the straw ones are barley for algae control in ponds... thats why they are 20 dollars each
onelonleyfarmer Now that's interesting. However the ones I saw I googled as "Decorative Mini Bales" City folk will buy anything, hell there's people who subscribe to The Enquirer.
soooo true
onelonleyfarmer Glad you made it back from Maine all in one piece, when's the vids on the new tractor and did you get any bugs in your teeth while driving the rat rod?
can you please show me how to make one
czcams.com/video/srZMOCDpG_g/video.html
My biggest concern is letting the clippings dry a bit before baling them.
That is important, and you can stack the bales so that air circulates around them also.
I wonder if there are any bailers much smaller than this. I like to get my rabbits really small hay cubes, but I wish I could find one tiny enough to make them with their scraps.
Also, you totally sound like Hank Hill! Awesome!
Did you have any luck? As I'm in the same position.
you could bale aluminum cans with that
onelonleyfarmer I have thought about making a baler for cans using my wood spliter however I may generate 1 empty can every month.
Shall put together a vid.

Cuantos Kg caben?
Purdy neat... Did you design the baler yourself or find some plans somewhere.
***** No sir, I saw one just like it here somewhere and just finnered out what I wanted and made it.
How was your time in the big city of Madison?
GLBoca It was good, didn't vehicle didn't get broke into like one time, vehicle didn't get key'd like one time, so wasn't bad. Camping area was nice (thanks for the suggestions) and the concert was good.
Would love to make one of these of my nieces and nephews. Could you share the directions to make one?

it'd be more like having that for a rabbit farm more for those kinda folks than anything

I need to know how to build one before spring
Pretty simple construction, I have another vid here somewhere with dimensions but the size of bale you want dictates that.
@@bc65925 ok I will look for it thanks for the help
I would love to learn how to make one
Do you have the plans for this baler?
No, but there is another video on it where I go over the dimensions. I just made it up as I went along.
I would like to build one can you explain how to make please
I have another video with some measurements, I mostly just made it up.

pretty much

Just grass (mostly weeds) out of my yard.

How do you billed that
There's a video or two that I have that has some sizes and dimensions.
