One of the most memorable scenes on Y&R ever, still makes me cry. Sad what happened to Nick and Sharon after this. She was never the same. And slimy Phyllis took advantage.

One of the saddest episodes ever seen. Nick and Sharon watching their child die. It must have brought tears to most people's eyes. Years later it was learned that Cassie had a twin sister Mariah, whom sadly she never got to see.

Sadly the writers decided to break Sharon Nick up after this, instead of writing about how a couple could come together in their time of grief over their child. Then to make matters worse create an affair where Phyllis takes advantage of the situation by instigating this affair with Nick.
But I was riveted to the television everyday as all of this unfolded.It was one of the best seasons of Y&R ever. And the chemistry between Nick and Phyllis was simply off the chain.

ReneeDeborah, I’m sorry, I just can’t agree. I can’t see Nick and Phyllis even to this day without thinking of this moment.
Phick is disgusting to me for this sole reason. It doesn’t help that she looks like his auntie but I could of gotten over that if they wouldn’t of had a full blown affair right after the death of Nick’s daughter. 🤢

I must admit I agree. I used to love this daytime drama, but it’s changed so much . Breaking up a couple over the course of losing a child, that’s just awful . Phyllis was just the worst way to go . Why did they choose to bring her into this ?
As Sharon laid herself across Cassie and Nick took her hand I knew it would break them forever... they were grieving in the same room but separately💔 there was no embrace between them. Just pain, grief & sorrow. Goddamn it

Too bad Mariah and Cassie never met! I wonder how their interactions would have been like as twins? I also wonder what would have become of Cassie over the years had she lived.
Sometimes, I wish that if Mariah was breaking down emotionally or was coming close to dying, she'd be dreaming and see Cassie's ghost in her dreams to give her advice. I can imagine seeing Cassie telling Mariah that Mariah's strong.
I wonder also if Cassie had lived, had a specialist saved her with something experimental if she told Nick and Sharon that she was the one driving the car not Daniel. Would Sharon and Nick forced Cassie to keep quiet out of fear of what the authorities would do to her? Cassie may have been a minor but she could've still gone to Juvi for what she did. They'd be afraid that they'd still lose her. Cassie wouldn't have been able to keep it a secret long.

@@JameseGray1991 In a way, she has played them both at the same time at least once. In Sharon's dream where she was dreaming about fighting cancer. She was sitting in a chair and Cassie and Mariah were on opposite sides of the chair, dressed differently. But they should do a scene where Cassie's ghost actually talks to Mariah.
I started watching faithfully just after Cassie's death. I cry like a baby every time I see it. What wonderful acting & writing ❤️
I admit that I saw this scene during my senior year of high school because I was done my senior internship for the day. Not into soap operas, but this was the saddest and most emotional scene in daytime television history. I almost broke down in tears watching it myself. My mom used to watch “Y&R” when I was very little though.

Even though, it was discovered that Cassie has a twin sister named Mariah? Played also by Camryn Grimes? Mariah is very different from Cassie but the viewers love her too which shows her acting is brilliant.

See the thing is nobody genuinely cared for her. I mean sure the taxi driver did, but even then we all know she deserved so much more than what she received

Heartbreaking. This episode was repeated on CBS the other day and I had to prepare myself to watch it again. Still tough to watch to this day.
I remember when this aired, I didn’t know she died!
15 years later and I still bawl like a baby. I still get chills. This is an iconic scene. This is damn near a masterpiece.
I watched it when they aired it again but it got cut off halfway through for our governor to give us a live update on the pandemic and this was the only episode he interrupted that whole week! I bet the viewers were sore at him!
This changed Genoa City.. the impact of this is still felt til this day. Lives changed forever.

I kinda dislike the title. This scene is definitely iconic as hell, but I would never describe it as one of my “favourite” scenes. It was utterly saddening, even if it is just a soap opera.
I remember when this happened, we had a loved one pass away a month before this, and we didn’t know they were going to kill Cassie off!!

Siz-Anna Glades Yes, omg. I think she would’ve been ok if she would’ve gotten with and married Brad and had babies with him but her character is ruined for me now. She hops from man to man with no real stability.

Harlan Milleret I had to take a break actually watching the storyline from the beginning and having watched Cassie grow up along with nick and Sharon I wept as if she were real.

Cassie was mirya she just left the show for a couple of years bd then Sharon and nick were going to have a twin named mirya but it was the same girl.
she was gone for 9 years, Cassie died in 2005 and mariah wasn't brought on until 2014. I'm glad camryn was brought back because they didn't even tell her Cassie was gonna die.
