Great video. I may not be a fan of these non-impact pop-up rotors, but you did show a lot of unique advantages built into the design. Thank you.

Thanks ! I was hesitant to make a video on the 5000. It's cool, but I much prefer the older RB rotor heads like the T-Bird and the first gen 5000 heads. The nozzles just seem to perform better in my opinion.

Hi Mike, how can I build some of these PVC systems with valves? Thanks!

Hey , they're super easy to build. Get a 10' length of sch40 PVC and some fittings. I used 1/2" for this one but you can use 1" as well. Get two Tee fittings with glue connections on all three ends and one Tee with a center NPT threaded connection for your sprinkler , three end caps and then a PVC to NPT coupler for your water connection , a ball valve and then a NPT to garden hose connector for your garden hose to screw onto. Cut your SCH 40 PVC to whatever length you want depending on how big you want your base to be , glue it all together with some PVC cement and put your valve on the end.
I have a video on my channel of me building a 1" one. It's in my live videos.

I wonder why rain Bird removed all the quality of life features on the 5000 compared to the t-bird and r50.

Yeah I'm not sure who made that decision, the T bird was one of the easiest rotors to adjust and maintain. And the robust R-50 lasted for decades in the ground. My guess is they wanted to fall into line with the majority of other manufacturers buy offering a wider nozzle selection and adjustment with a tool rather than having to have a different process. They did add the slip clutch feature and shut off feature if you got the plus model, but still nothing compared to the older rotors.
