Ghost Rider isn’t a “fraud” per se, though he is pretty inconsistent. I think a large part of that inconsistency is due to his set of abilities being far more effective on those who have committed horrible sins, meaning he can sometimes fight characters that would normally be seen far outside of his weight class. This leads to fans of the character arguing Ghost Rider is actually at the level of those higher tiers he wouldn’t otherwise be able to touch, when he just isn’t at that level without the specific matchup being in his favor. If anything, this makes him the opposite of a fraud, he’s a lower tier character that occasionally boxes far above his weight class- it’s the fans that made him out to be a heavyweight that are getting the fraud label slapped on his back.
A lot of characters are inconsistent, Spider-Man is too, hulk especially. Hulk struggled to lift a core of a planet and he took awhile to smash a planet in his Donny cates run. Don’t get me started on silver surfer draining all of his gamma in the old days, or Peter David’s hulk getting knocked out by electro…….
He’s portrayed as a being who is as strong as he needs to be

I remember recommending something similar. As an Old-School Powerscaler myself, this is more or less what I've always done. A bunch of Geeks and Nerds made up their own language and system that had little to nothing to do with the actual Characters.
The debating thing is the reason Seth used to debate meme topics. It’s also the reason why there’s a Debate Club in highschools. You can when the *dumbest* arguments just because you’re good at arguing and nothing else.

I mean the tiers should just be shortcuts to explain a character’s power, a mini explanation but to be fair if you say the actual feats they are a hundred percent valid and also everyone would need to actually think about where the characters and not just say they are outer but the other character is hyper so character A wins. Can’t wait to have real scaling back
Yea, let's redefine powers scaling. Also, ghost rider is imitation 'spawn.' (In my opinion) But I don't know enough for imput. I would like to learn more on skeletor & how strong he really is. Maybe potential power can be included: room for growth or can they get more powerful with their world's resources

see the thing about power scaling that sucks is statements. specifically how much stock people put in statements alone. you can scale using statements but there has to on panel evidence to back them up. like with Beyonder and his omnipotence. or just omnipotence in general.
Case by case basis tbh. One statement might need evidence, but if said statement is said multiple times in and out of the series, it's trying to convey to the reader that's it's more fact than opinion. But that's just me.

The problem is people using assisted feats to justify their claims without context,or people using statements that contradict the evidence shown in canon

From what ive read so far Ghost rider vs anyone outside of his genre is equivalent of asking a engineer to cook in a restaurant, he gets mauled by anyone that doesnt have spiritual based abilities or sins. Also marvel has to have some kind of reverse kink shame for johny blaze they love putting that man over any chance they get.
I feel like one of modern day super hero's biggest fumbles from a writing perspective is treating everyone like an MC. Realistically there is no world where all of those heroes and villains can operate at their prime for more than like 15% of their screen time which is why we have jobbers. If we're being honest wolverine kind of is an MC type hero even among all the other marvel cast, but so is everyone else so he has to get T bagged alot.
In reference to ghost rider i think he's better as a natural phenomenon than a true "character". His presence in a story should be an informational event like in world war hulk, we get our confirmation that hulk is justified because of ghost rider. He judges him, deems him to be in the right, then he leaves and doesn't overstay his welcome. That's how powerful characters remain powerful. People like spiderman are nuanced through their struggles but ghost rider is a universal force that really shouldn't be relatable if we're being honest.
All this to say he's a jobber. (but shouldn't be)

I never understood anti feat scaling. Why look down on a character for being a jobber when everyone gets in comics/fiction have moments were they get dropped down to bullet level? Like people hype up Batman and Spider-Man being herald level when these mfs get cut by knifes and tagged by bullets. I’m not even just referring to comics. In Batman vs Superman, Batman gets tagged by regular dudes, he gets shot and cut and the only reason he survives that is because of his armor but now I got DCEU fans putting him at light speed cause he can react to superman. Spider-Man is supposed herald level but the mf says that if he falls a couple stories he’d die? I just think it’s bias.
