- Could this possibly be the Longest Ever Pro Stock Burn Down in HISTORY?!?! Well Jeff Dobbins and John Pluchino sure put on one heck of a show at the PDRA Mid-Atlantic Showdown! Reaching Just over 4 minutes from Pre-Staging to lighting up that 3rd bulb, with Dobbins coming out on top with a HOLESHOT off the line!!

Big inch pro stocks like these are some of the best sounding cars out there in my opinion.
Not real cars but i get it
Definitely.
D Carden Stfu
@@dcarden3031 You must be Nascar guy. You guys drive around looking for the finish line. We drag racers go straight to it. The Big inch pro stock cars have more HP in one engine compared to maybe 3 nascar engines.
@@dcarden3031Nascar cars aren’t real either.
Backfired on Pluchino….. Wait 4 minutes to go in and then lose on a holeshot. Fantastic staging duel. I wonder how hot they got?
Taking the win with a hole shot is the best thanks for taking the time for us thanks again guys
I remember seeing starter Buster Couch point to them to get off the track. They would back up and the next pair would move up to run. He didnt put up with all the wasting time.
Buster used to let them play as long as they wanted. When they finally staged , put the motor at about 8000rpm, he wouldnt turn on the tree. BOOM. There goes a $100,000 engine. How expensive do you want your lesson?
Bet he didn’t do that but once
I’ll take “things I pulled out of my ass” for 1,000
Props to the starter for not being a Karen about it and letting them sit there.
Being there witnessing was just as amazing. Staging duel at it finest!!
Great staging duel
DOPE 👍
I was there. Pdra racing blows NHRA out the water. Best real people racing real nasty cars
What real cars no dealer sales those frames
yes you can go to a chassis dealer
You get a sub for this vid
I think these burn downs are fun to watch and are very important in these highly competitive races . Don't try to make them pull in , give them all the time they want.
That's good shit.
I didn't think they hold enough fuel to sat there that long
I knoe right
Maybe they put a Smokey Yunick fuel line on those cars just for this purpose.
Love it that hole shot was awesome put the mustang away
If Buster were alive and at that race, he would had shut them both down after a while.
Rick Stewart could go either way.... I've seen him chew the drivers out and I've seen him just sit back and let 'em burn.
Buster would motion you to stage Once, only once. I saw Buster throw out some of the biggest names in the sport for taking too long.
Old buster wouldn't have let this happen!
@Thomas Smith You sir, are exactly right about that! He wouldn't put up with any of this nonsense 😊🏁
Kudos to the starter for letting them have at it. The psychological game is all part of it.
Now show the fight they got into when they got out of their cars.
Duane Uselton lmaoooo
Awesome
Real Pro Stock Cars here!
They’ve got a good cooling system to idle that long and not heat up. I’ve never understood the staging dual. I never cared if I went in first or last. I did have a technique for either way to make sure I was ready. They had to have the fuel cells topped off. Lol
The cooling system is actually quite small. They run the coolant through a chiller unit in the pits before they race. In many cases they can get the motor down to 40ish degrees F so they can run the car just a little longer without overheating however even so they probably got near 220+ I'd guess sitting there that long. When these motors get that hot they lose power
@@jayer-su3hu hey do you know what company makes those chillers?.
@@jayer-su3hu I listened to a crew member talking and they said when they get to the end of the straight the engines are usually only about 110 to 120 degrees
I love seeing burndown's, it adds another dimension to the sport
Marc Stone yes and this is what poeple want to see not boring nhra thats why its failing
miss these cars miss the old ihra!
Worked at a track, after 60 seconds you'd give them a warning if they didn't stage you'd hit the switch. Sucks to suck
the starting line guy did his job on that race
It's like waiting for the beat to drop but it never does lol
Jeff Caught him sleeping
Old school games lol..
When you have no power adder the first to draw wins unless you a damn good builder 😂👌
Definitely not Buster Couch running the Christmas Tree...
Couch wouldn't put up with thier games after 45 seconds. This starter walks on eggshells.
Damn was that a Dodge Avenger racing a ford something?
Damn man. It would have been more cool if it was a dodge Neon vs a ford probe! Rwd 949 cubes bro! Oem.
So did that behavior pay off ?
Man that is a long time@ the line...lol!!
Breaker 1. 9. We got a burn down!
Was that Samuel L?!??
They should have ran hot , an ran out of fuel .
There would be a lot less BS if the starter could just randomly light it after 30 seconds.
This technically ain't a burn down it's a staging battle a burn down is when you got a turbo car like myself and a dick head in the other lane won't turn on the bottom stage light and I go on the break bump in and they sit there then my shit is nuclear hot and i let out then they bump in and i dont have time to get it back on the 2 step it sucks ass first time it happened to me you could have fried chicken on my trans it ended bad we all got escorted off the property by the police it was a grudge race and we both agreed to no staging bullshit I still reeled him just not enough room to go around
Looks like KAASE heads on the car. Chevy never made a hemi head. Oh, you did not hear the story? Since JK"s motors were dominating pro stock. The sanctioning body told JK if he didn't show the bowtie boys how to make the hemi heads. Anyone who used a Kaase engine would have to carry more weight, be penalized for use of his engines. So rather than loose that part of his business he acquiesced and passed on his hemi head design. I heard JK tell the story, all to true. So those bowtie guys are all running Ford heads.
What was the point of waiting???🤣🤣🤣; Why did it take them so long to work the tree????💯
To burn the other guy down..
@@ianalderson5133 ok✌🏿
It's all about the mind games and you also hope the other guys car overheats before yours does
Basically the drag racing form of 'russian roulette' or 'chicken'
Wow thanks for the video guys you guys rock but these two unprofessional racers should have been disqualified the ultimate cringe of the year LOL this had me raging
What are the rules? 5 minutes for staging?
7 seconds after the first person lights both bulbs no rules before that
That will eventually work against you as the tires cool off.
how the fuck did they not get DQ'd
Should've bulbed them both. Wonder what the top end atmosphere was like....?
hey you risk running outa fuel…. they don’t hold that much.. id jump right in and double light em next time just to be a jerk 🤣
Surprised they didn't overheat or that their tires did not cool down too much.
Won't overheat because of the fuel they run. But the tires cooling is a real possibility
@Neil Goldstrom Yeah was thinking the same thing, Maybe those big tires take a while to get below their useable window or Maybe the prep is just really good?
Didn't come to waste fuel at the line...wtf
that would have felt like and eternity in the car
one of my favorite things about drag racing. awesome!
If I was the starter I would of walked away ridiculous
Oh 1/8 mile shit! No wonder
What were you wondering?
Can somebody explain what just happened? Lol why was it both the racers faults?
What do you mean by faults? Can you explain more? Maybe i can help answering your question.
Kristiadi Hartanto sorry, not faults. Idk why I worded it that way lol what is a burn down? Why did the Christmas tree take forever to give a green?
@@peterdavignon9837 yep and to add on it can totally trash a motor like some that run off methanol I believe
@@peterdavignon9837 because the drivers have to pull in far enough to start the timer. Both drivers waited to do so.
buster would have never let that happen
I narrated this to myself in my best Al Tucci voice
Overheat soon
Haha... Good for them ! Now that's true mind game racing !
That was awesome. Love it
Those cars are sooo loud in real life!!
That was funny tho
but they dont turn these motors as hard as the smaller NHRA Prostock cars which have an rpm max of 10,500
You must not have ever been beside a blown promod doing a burn out or staged and ready to go.
I have they are a lot louder tho we had a blown promod but we wreck it
@@trevindabest8115 nothing sounds better to me than a blown promod . We ran a screw blown promod . The only thing louder is a top fuel engine. You haven't lived until you stand on the starting line between 2 top fuel cars!
Should be a five second rule after the first yellow then it just goes green
It’s 7 after the first turns on both a turbo car wouldn’t have enough time to stage if that be the case
LOVE IT, BURN BABY BURN !!!!!!
Looks like courtesy stage wasn't on. Or the tree would have done it automatically on them.
They allowed it to get some publicity
Neither went in and double bulbed the other so they did courtesy stage. Now the starter could of warned them, backed them out and/or dq both of them but I doubt tho that PDRA officials were in his ear telling him to allow it to get some publicity.
sounds like Buster needs to learn his job if he is blowing up racer's motor's or making people red light...Let the racers do what they do...
Wasting spectators time and making the sport look bad isn't what Drag racing is about. Sounds like you dont have a clue.
This wasn't wasting the spectators time, I was at the race and everyone was cheering when it was happening
@@towmatergamin8943 because "burndown" is the part of the fight. Am i correct?
If you race me we gonna do this. How ever long you want. I don’t stage first. Period
I liked the part when the race cars didn't race.....
Red light both
Never understood this. Who gives a shit which one stages first. Just be ready for it to fall an go. Not a big deal
The starter should have put up the red lights on both sides and disqualified both. That'd teach them a lesson.
But there is a rule that a racer can be disqualified for not following the commands of the starter.
That’s not how a tree works lol
@@brendyngibbs2884 It is. The starter can turn on the red lights on either side or both at the same time. Generally most people see the latter when there is a situation down track. And, yes, it can be controlled in the same manner from the tower. The more you know, right?
Carl B I’ve been a starter and that’s not at all how it works.at least at our track. The starter has 1 switch that he flips when both cars are pre-staged.
2 unprofessional divers scared to race each other.
If I was running the tree I would have motioned them to cut the cars off and back out of the lanes and DQ both of them.
What happen to the out come rain out wtf PDRA
greg king Rain came Saturday night right before finals were to be run. All remaining finals will be finished 3rd Round at PDRA in Maryland at the end of this month.
@@FreeLifeFilms thanks you people rock
Lolllllll
I cant wait for NHRA to take them over & make them a Pro class, I just cant stand all these badass cars in the PDRA racing ONLY 1/8th mile on full 1/4mile tracks....smfh
standardize it all @1k . I'm not a fan of 1/4 mile anyways. It eliminates too many Venues from event consideration. Technology forced the NHRA to move down to 1k vs 1320 due to higher top speeds achieved by vehicles. Same translates to current local strips that could support 1/4's in the day. Nowadays many 1/4 strips are sketchy or just plain inadequate for shutdown room. For the same reason. Faster, quicker cars running the same distance. Require more room to stop. As well as higher top speeds create exponentially higher risks for catastrophic results.
@@ToxicA55hat What NHRA dragstrip is eliminated from 1/4mile consideration pertaining to ALL classes in the PDRA ????? NHRA runs nitro to 1,000 ft....and nitro cars are alot more powerful than Promods.....so that's an incorrect statement you made.....660ft is just too short & only is a tease .
Grown men acting like 5 year olds
It's all part of pro stock racing. Everybody does it but not quite to this extreme.
This isn't a burndown
It isnt?
@@FreeLifeFilms wouldn't a burndown be letting one stage build boost and tbe other driver takes a long time to stage?
@@whocares5188 same thing applies with all motor prostock cars as well. Some call it a Burndown, some call it a staging duel, etc etc.
1st and this is amazing
damn this was a waste of time
For the one that lost.
I couldn't agree more. Total waist of other competitors time waiting in line in a hot car inside a hot fire suit and helmet. I would have ban them from racing there forever! Jack Asses!
If I would have been the starter I would have threw on the double red lights flashing and disqualified both cars stupid wasting everybody's time
Just one reason you're never be a starter.
They both should have been DQ for talking to long to stage
slower car won
Kinda makes me mad that they clap. You can’t wait that long to stage, any other organization including unsanctioned street racing would have DQ’d both of their asses.
Fake news
both should have been disqualified, multiple times they ignored the starter!
I couldn't have said it any better myself!
I think this is dumb, should have a time and whoever isn't double bulbed gets a red light.
Why didn't he just go in first and tree him like that to start with lol...?
Everyone should start doing this...
rules is rules. Can't change/add them after pre-stage. Both drivers were obviously aware of the rules and played the game. someone lost. Not the viewers of this educational video.
Sometimes people don't realize that there are 2 drag racing league. Even sometimes people don't know the engine rules either.
Should be disqualified
I think it's a stupid waste
Of time and shouldn't be allowed.
Those Jack Asses aren't thinking of the competitors in line behind them in a hot car and fire suit. Total lack of respect for others. Great comment!
@@hagerz you can change to other league then.
You let them burn down 100k engines somebody b paying never run a track that allows this Shit
