All NASCAR Cafe's closed in 2006. The cars on the fake track are historic pieces worth about 50k-350k a piece. The coca cola #3 was Dale Earnhardt's car in the Japan exhibition race run in 1998. Also, the racing suits, trophies and other race used memorabilia is probably work a few hundred thousand dollars total in and of itself in the collector market. Trust me, even with the current waning of NASCAR's popularity, this is an era of the sport even disenfranchised fans would go crazy over. You not being a NASCAR knowledgeable person, didn't know what you were filming here. huge simulator aside, you probably rubbed up against a cool 2.5 million dollars worth of NASCAR artifacts that day.

    •  Před 6 lety +5

a cool 2.5 million in artifacts... I have never been to anything race related and you could give me all that stuff and it wouldn't mean crap to me, much less worth any $$$. A fool and his money are soon parted.

My family and I dined @ the Nascar Cafe during a family vacation in 2003. From what I remember, what a cool themed restaurant it was. You didn't have to be a NASCAR fan to appreciate how cool the stock cars looked above on the mock racetrack black top from dining room area. Most definitely a unique dining concept. Oh and great burgers and fries too. I'm sorry, to hear it closed. It's a shame, but nothing stays the same for too long anyways these days. What can you do, right? RIP NASCAR CAFE. You were a winner while your race career lasted. That being said, thx for sharing.

I totally disagreethe championship system they have today is absolutely phenomenal you actually have to win your way in and earn it. not like back in the day when a driver would have a 400 point lead and you already knew the champion was the three races to go. And the racing this year has been phenomenal since they lowered the horsepower.

I did hear they want to get rid of the 2 mile tracks. Watching on TV is like watching a 3 hour Baseball game. I once heard people only go to see the crashes. Ill stick with my Buffalo Bills, even if I need to pay $ 10.00 for 1 Beer. Even though our team sucks we have loyal fans sellout almost every game. Bills fans like to party they tailgate 4 hours before the game. It sucks people look down on us because of all the snow we get. Its true we get 10-12 feet every winter from Lake Erie. There was a similar place in the Orlando area a mile or two from Universal Studios and about 80 miles west of Daytona International Speedway called the Race Rock Cafe. I went there a few times in the late 90's and early 2000's. It was a restaurant somewhat like the nearby Hard Rock Cafe except full of Nascar stuff.
There was also a NHRA Top Fuel Dragster simulator at nearby Old Town. I rode that one a few times as well. It had fiberglass Mustang funny car bodies mounted on the end of a 600 foot hydraulic cylinder like used in elevators. There were a pair of these next to each other, each connected to a large compressed air tank which was pumped up to a bazillion PSI with air and dumped into the cylinder when the go pedal was pressed. Zero to 160 MPH is less than 1 second! It made you realize that it would take some serious concentration to deal with the launch and still steer the car.
Sadly both of these attractions are gone now.

We used to go to that several times per year since we lived in Bryson City. It was always packed. All of a sudden, everything in that entire block closed. We always wondered why. Always crowded and lots of fun with the real cars that would start up and rev their engines. Tires would also spin as you were eating. Never should of closed. Kind of like fast food though. But was good.

I’ve been to the Bascar Cafe in Las Vegas, the place closed after the 2013 season. Such a shame to see a franchise that Brian France killed. Although the food was decent it had artifacts of NASCAR from the 90’s, the true NASCAR years. Now when I visit, I buy from the Racetrack

If I had the money, I'd probably join the auction. I'm happy to see that something new is going on that lot though. Sevierville sure has grown since I was young. Now it's Pigeon Forge 2 on U.S. 441. There's so much in that area, and then there's the old NASCAR Cafe wasting space for 12 years.
